Wisconsin-style Fish Fry?

I would recommend skipping the fish fry anywhere in Illinois. You'll be disappointed.

Instead, grab a nice meal, in Grayslake I like The Vine, The Country Squire, and Full Slab Ribs.

What are your personal faves in the Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater area?

I'm going to Madeira Beach the last week in March. What is this Dockside Dave's I've heard about? Can anyone give me some feedback?

Need help in the far northern burbs (kenosha)

I'm going up to Kenosha which is definitely still in the Chicago area with all the suburban sprawl these days. I know nothing about the town. Please give me some suggestions of a place to eat.

Restaurant Week

I highly recommend Sepia for everyone who hasn't been there yet. They opened last summer and I really like it. They feature a lot of food you won't find everywhere (i.e., organic ingredients, free range chicken, and heirloom tomatoes). The food and atmosphere are great. It is just west of the loop maybe a block south of Randolph. We did have to wait a little bit but not too bad. We also have had Sunday brunch there which was a little pricey but very good.

Valentine's Northern Lake County Style!

We went to the Stage Coach Stop in Wilmot. Good steaks. But the baked potato is ridiculous. I'm not exagerating when I say they put half a pound hunk of butter on top of it!

Looking for any unturned stones in or near Gurnee

Speaking of Italian foor, has anyone tried "That Intalian Place" in Graylake on 83? I always drive past it but haven't tried it. Supposedly it is pretty good.

Valentine's Northern Lake County Style!

Yes, the Twin Oaks. I was there a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

Thanks to all for helping out.

Valentine's Northern Lake County Style!

That's a great idea! Actually, now that I think about it there are a couple of places just over the border, I think one is called the stage coach stop? I think it is in Wilmot? There is another restaurant there but it's been so long that I can't remember the name. Any help?

In case you can't tell, I still have no set plans.

Valentine's Northern Lake County Style!

I'm looking for a NICE place up in northnern Lake County, that takes reservations. I looked at the board "Looking for any unturned stones in or near Gurnee". There are over 240 posts and many are about philly steak sandwiches and other fast food. Finding a nice restaurant was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Please help me.

Has anyone tried Full Slab Ribs lately? It in just north of Washington on 45. Great ribs and a great atmosphere! The attractive wait staff is a good thing too.

Friday Night Recommendation

There are tons of great places right around there. One of my favorites is Bandera, which is right on Michigan Ave, just a few blocks south of you. It's on the east side of the street on the second floor. If you get a window seat you will have a great view, and the prices are reasonable. Even if you don't get a window seat, it is a great relaxed atmosphere. It is casual American comfort food.

My wife is going to a show at the theater in downtown Waukegan. Any suggestions for places to eat?

Invading Detroit for Bears Game

Exactly! I'm going behind enemy lines. If I trust them they'll send me down some dark alley.

Where should I go to watch a Sunday night Bear's game?

Joe's on Weed Street is my favorite place to soak in sporting events. The place is huge with tons of televisions. Food is better than average too. Attractive servers doesn't hurt either.

Invading Detroit for Bears Game

I've never been to detroit but I'm going this weekend for the Bears game. Any suggestions for a good sports bar after the game where I can watch the late games and get some decent food? Actually, we are staying in Windsor, but I'll take suggestions for either side of the border.

-The Vine
- Care Pyrenees
- Sake Zake

Not sure where you are driving from, I wouldn't come from Naperville for it. But if you are ever in the area, I'd drive an extra 20 minutes for it.

Several locations in Lake County but the original on 41 and Milwaukee is the best.

Can we get away from Mexican cuisine for a little while (although I really like Rudy's with the coke from Mexico made from real sugar not corn syrup).

Here are some good places to check out:

- Cafe Pyrenees, in Libertyville, great French food with out being too pretentious.

- Firken, also in Libertyville, not your typical bar food.

- Fat Man's Inn, best Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches in Chicagoland, (and beautiful waitresses)!

- Quonset, best pizza in Lake County.

I'll share some of my thoughs:
- Sake Zake has some of the best Sushi I've had, and the staff is very kind and helpful.
- Full Slab is a fun place to go, food is decent, wait staff is attractive, atmosphere is loud and festive.
- Rudy's has great Mexican, and I love the Coke in the glass bottles from Mexico (real sugar not corn syrup)!
- The Vine is a nice quiet place to relax with a big group of friends at the back table. A big group is great because you can sample more dishes without over-eating. Nice to see an up-scale place in Grayslake!
