DINNER MEETING IN PROVIDENCE - HELP WITH LOCATION

I'm meeting a colleague in Providence this week for a dinner meeting. I'm driving from Boston; he's driving from CT. I'm looking for a place that : 1. We can both find easily from the highway, and that won't involve either of us wandering around lost, 2. That has interesting or good food - no Applebee-type places, please, 3. Where we can spread out a little bit and not be rushed or glared at, 4. That won't require reservations or a long wait for a table. 5. That will have parking.

I know it's a tall order, but I'm hoping to not have to resort to a Starbucks. Does such a place exist??Thanks in advance!

DINNER MEETING THIS THURSDAY IN PROVIDENCE - help with recommendation

I'm meeting a colleague in Providence this Thursday for a dinner meeting. I'm driving from Boston; he's driving from CT. Neither of us know the city well. Can anyone recommend a restaurant that 1. Where we can sit and spread out for awhile and won't be rushed out or glared at. 4. Where we won't need reservations and won't have a long wait for a table.

Barcelona next week, no reservations yet!

I got a reservation for Hisop! Thanks for the recommendation to e-mail them directly.

Barcelona next week, no reservations yet!

Thanks, I did go ahead and e-mail Hisop. Hopefully, that'll turn something up. I've just been mapping out the restaurants and I noticed that we're staying right near Embat. Does anyone know whether reservations are absolutely necessary there?

Barcelona next week, no reservations yet!

When I go to the sites for 41 Degrees or Tickets, it shows dates and times available (in bold). I choose those and click through, and it says those options can't be chosen anymore. Am I missing something or are they just booked but not clear?

I'm happy to look elsewhere if you guys have suggestions of places you think we could still get into.

Barcelona next week, no reservations yet!

I'll be in Barcelona this Friday to next Thursday. I haven't had a chance to make reservations, and now I'm regretting it. Finally did some research on here, and these are the places we're most interested in:

Cal Pep, Bar Pinotxo at the Boqueria, Kaiku for lunch, Tickets, Hisop.

I just tried making reservations at Tickets and Hisop, but no luck. The responses on the website were a little confusing, but I'm guessing the reservations didn't go through just because they're booked. Is it worth showing up at either without a reservation? I'm guessing that Tickets is impossible. This trip is a little last minute, so by the time I was able to research places they were booked, I guess. We would like at least one fancy, nice, modern cuisine dinner. Is there any place we could still get into or just show up at? Crazy impossible? Doable if we go at an off time?

Birthday dinner in Baltimore. Help me decide.

Well, I'm not really left any more decisive than I began, actually. The reviews of Woodberry Kitchen are so varied, I'm not really excited by the menu at Salt. Like the menu at Brewer's Art, but my friend says it's not really "fancy" enough. Maybe the Helmand would be a better choice? Unique? Not trying to be a trendy NY restaurant but not succeeding???

Birthday dinner in Baltimore. Help me decide.

I'm going to be in Baltimore for work during my birthday and will be having dinner with a friend/colleague to celebrate. These are the restaurants I'm considering: Chameleon Cafe, Woodberry Kitchen, Brewer's Art, and B&O American Brasserie. I like creatively prepared simple, seasonal foods, a cool space that's not too slick or stuffy, not to have to shout my conversation, and informed service (who doesn't want that, though). Woodberry Kitchen was my original choice, but I've since heard that the food there is inconsistent. Has anyone had that experience? Do any of these candidates seem more likely than others? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
