3 Goodies in Palma de Mallorca

Just returned yesterday and dined at these 3. Highly recommended.

Restaurant Zaranda at the specatcular new Hotel Hilton Sa Torre in Llucmajor. Excellent service staff worked hard to please. And the food was quite good. 1 Michelin Star.

Excellent fish dishes. So good we decided to go 2x's for lunch. Discovered the delicious Gallo de San Pedro fish. Mild taste and so fresh I bet it was flopping that morning. Good service


The best overall food and service experience was Simply Fosh. Don't let the location fool you. Once you enter what looks like an art gallery you're in for a pleasant suprise. We ordered capirinhas cocktails which they didn't put on the bill, we mentioned it and they decided it was on the house. Who says honesty doesn't pay? <g>

Decent Lunch in South Hackensack?

Years ago our work group had lunch at Bazzarelli's once a week, lunch was very good.

Not sure if it's still as good but worth a try.

Really frustrated trying to talk to "live person" from BLUE INC.

Do a plan B.

Do not wait till you get a response from this place and lose out at making another reservation at one of the busiest times of the year.

After 3 times of trying to get reservations at a particular restaurant I leave it at that, there are others just as good that would be delighted at taking my money.

Hotel in Scotland with the best food?

Lucky you. You're going to love Scotland. Great people.

Pizza with Cracker Like Crust

Hate to say this but gonna have to as it's the only one I can think of at the moment.

In our area the only place that has superthin crust like a cracker is Domino's <chain> thin crust.

However, taste change from state to state. The cracker like crust might not be popular in your area.

Madrid with a Baby

Spaniards eat dinner very late. 10 PM + is the norm.

With that out of the way you will find many restaurants, cafes and other eateries welcoming of babies and/or well behaved children.

Children are treasured in Spain.

And if in doubt regarding a particular restaurant you want to go to ask at your hotel's front desk or concierge.

Le Bernardin - am I the only one who thinks it is

When I go out to eat to a fine dining establishment I would like an **overall** pleasant experience.

The food at Le Bernadin is good as is their service and place where we sat, however, when you have a boisterous crowd in the dining room with people acting badly and where at intervals you can't hear folks at your own table what they're saying that is not an **overall** pleasant experience, IMO.

But that's just me.

I offered my opinion at my last experience in this restaurant <which I've been to 5 or 6 x's prior including when it first opened> nothing more nothing less.

La Mar Cebicheria Peruana -- Reviews?

We dined there last night.

The food was excellent from the lomo salteado, their chaufa version of fried rice, the sudado to their meats.

The service was uneven, however, a party of 5, 3 got their meal and had to start eating as 2 others had to wait for their meal. A glitch most likely due to having recently opened.

If you go have Peru's best loved cocktail ask for this one: Pisco Sour Seco with Pisco 100

Le Bernardin - am I the only one who thinks it is

Last time I was there was between the Thansksgiving and X-mas Holidays a couple or so years ago.

I vowed not to return.

The place appears to have become a tourist and out of towners central, IMO. And these folks were loud, obnoxious and ill mannered in lacking consideration for the diners around them.

Maybe because it was the festive season, but that loud environment killed it for me. Le Bernadin perhaps has become a victim of it's own success. And at one time while Gilbert La Coze <sp> was alive it was great.

Dulce de leche

Don't make the 2 holes in the can for even dulce leche.

Put the can in water and boil it for about 3 hours, med/high heat. Check the water at ramdon and add more as it dissipates.

After about 3 hours remove can from water and let it cool at room temp. Open the can and the dulce leche you get is fantastic. Or after it's cooled at room temp put in fridge, after it's cold open the 2 sides of the can and push the dulce leche thru one end.

My family from Cuba has been making it this way since I can remember. My Abuela used to spread it on saltines crackers as an after school snack. The salty sweet taste is awsome.

Sexy Manly Desserts to Impress!

Simplicity trumps' 'trying to impress.

It's Autumn harvest and the fruits of the season are at their sweetest, it's pie season.

How about pumkin, apple, peach or blueberry pie, even cobblers or tatins? Or a fruits of the forest pie <that name sounds impressive enough> using blueberries, rasperries, blackberries etc?

Keep the best quality vanilla i/c as well as making the best homemade whipped cream you can whip up on hand.

Honeymoon in Madrid, special dinner near villa real

If price is not a concern, looking to impress and not opposed to taking a short taxi ride to the Salamanca section <might be Retiro as they border each other and restaruant is across the park> I recommend Restaurante Horcher.

Elegant, good food and service, romantic room. Jacket, tie and reservations required. If you don't have a jacket or tie they will provide.


Closer to Puerta del Sol is La Terraza del Casino which is just as good to impress, but only if the terrace is open. The interior of the restaurant is a bit ""clinical"', tho' the food and service is good.

Yes, in Lima I found the peppers, onions, corn, limes even the potatos, et al much more tastier and flavorful add to that the fish/seafood from the Pacific as well. Spain obviously from the Meditarrenean & the Northern Spanish seas.

Both delicious and to be savored. <g>

PS. Should you ever visit the magnificence <sp> that is Peru let me know and I'll ""meet"" you in the So. American discussion forum and give you suggestions on some great restaurants.

Madrid restaurants -- comments please.

Aleta, There is a slight difference between A&G Lima and Madrid.

I found the one in Lima tended to have more of a meat selection than the one in Madrid who had more fish dishes, thankfully no cuy on the menu in the latter <g>. And of course the former's Pisco Sours were more outstanding than the one in Madrid. Additionally, on the 2 x's we visited the one in Madrid making reservations was a PITA, both times the night we wanted to dine there was no reservations so flexibility helps.

Madrid restaurants -- comments please.

Been to all of them.

Botin - Suprisingly the food is actually good for a ""touristy:: place. And they're open Sundays.

Balzac - When we went during the week it was empty so the atmosphere was lacking. The food is good as is the service.

La Bola - They love Ava Gardner in this place <g>. Typical madrileƱo fare. If you order a meal with chorizo they apply it heavily. Tends to get crowded. Another ""touristy"" place.

Astrid and Gaston - Been to the one in Lima, Peru and the one in Madrid is just as good. Great ceviches. Don't forget to order a Pisco Sour. Reservations a must.

Madrid Restaurant - DiverXo vs La Terraza

We were at Diverxo and was not impressed.

The dining room was dark, way too serious found the diners a bit pretentious for my taste. The food was good as was the service. For Asian food I rather go to Sudestana.

For a great meal out of the two the Terraza del Casino can't be beat if you're dining on the terrace. No menu but they do ask for food allergies and they gladly substitute. The food is very good as is the service, excellent sommalier. Reservations a must. Jacket required.
