Best breakfast joints in Western Canada

Thank you! I too found Culina (Millcreek) to be thoroughly mediocre. The flavours in my meal, as well as my mother's were nothing special (we went for Saturday brunch). I'm wondering if we're just ordering the wrong thing. that and the service was lacking, but maybe our waitress was just having a bad day.

Floc de Gascogne in Edmonton

Does anyone know where in Edmonton you can buy Floc de Gascogne? If not, can you think of something similar to suggest and where I could purchase it?

I've never been to Zaika but look forward to trying it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Zinc at the Art Gallery of Alberta - a huge disappointment

That makes me really sad. I was so hopeful. Don't they test dishes before putting them on the menu? There's a certain amount of pride that has to go into running an establishment and it makes me sad when it isn't there.

Coffee Beans - Calgary

All good choices! My preference is Phil and Sebastian-- but really any of the above would be great.

Valentine's Day Edmonton

Staying In! Expensive menus, high table turnover, and people who always seem to be disappointed because they've hyped it up in their heads. Definitely staying home.

Edmonton Coffee - 105 St NW & 103 Ave NW

Yes, I know, but coffee tastes different depending on where it's made.

Edmonton Coffee - 105 St NW & 103 Ave NW

Agreed on the Three Bananas. I've had Credo, and it's about the same quality I think. My personal favourite, if you can make it there, as it's not downtown, is either Cafe Leva by the university, or Transcend Coffee (but that's a bit of a drive, being on the southish end of the city.

Edmonton- The Pint

I'd wanted to visit the pints for months before I got in the door. Just off Japser on 109th Ave a new pub/bar popped up to replace the seedy Fox and the Hound. I headed in to The Pint after a volleyball game with some of my teammates. The first thing I noticed is that, while too big for a true pub, it still kept it's old pub qualities, despite being updated and renovated. There's a large main area that's more of a bar, but lots of tables and a couple of little side rooms that can almost make you believe that you're in a tiny establishment.
The service was excellent. I don't know the name of our server, but she was prompt, curtious, and quick with our orders. The drinks were, drinks. You won't find anything special on tap there, though. It's your standard line-up of Rickards, Labatt, Molson, Grasshopper, Guiness, Stella, and a couple of others. I stuck with my traditional Guiness ($7), which was brought to me cold and well poured. I got a chance to sample their onion rings, which were alright, and their fries, which were excellent.
The style of this pub makes it a place you want to go back to again. The service ensures you'll go back there again. Just make no mistake, this is not a quiet pub. On a Wednesday evening, the place was packed. We had to wait for a table, and only barely managed to snag one. Apparently on the weekends you can expect an hour long wait just to get in. It's a semi-trendy downtowner, mixed 20's crowd with smatterings of other age groups. All in all, a very popular place, and it's got that reputation for a reason.

Food Deals for Students- Edmonton

Whoops! My bad, yes, it is H&W. You have to go fairly often and kinda pick through stuff, but you can get some great deals.

Food Deals for Students- Edmonton

I work at a university in Edmonton and have noticed that more students are strapped for cash then ever. Thus, I am making a list of places that are great hang outs for students with reasonable prices/ student discounts. I'm also including a list of good (bargain) places to shop for food, such as H&M and Bulk Barn. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated!
