Portland Pre and Post Show Food and Drink Suggestions

I do like Publick House, it's just more restaurant than bar in my mind. Either way not a bad option..and that mac and cheese is great!

Portland Pre and Post Show Food and Drink Suggestions

Your recommendations worked out well, thank you. We got a small lunch at Duckfat when we got in to town (right near our hotel) and really enjoyed it. Fries lived up to the hype and the tomato soup was delicious. Tuna melt just ok. For dinner we ended up at 555 as Nosh was packed. I'm happy with the choice though, everything was excellent. Oysters and marinated cheese to start and I had the grilled caesar for my meal. The dressing tasted great but there was just a bit too much of it. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly and very good.
Novare Res was the perfect stop after the show. Wish we had a bar like that in Boston.
Thank you!

Portland Pre and Post Show Food and Drink Suggestions

Thanks, these suggestions are great. We're coming up from Boston so we're staying at the Residence Inn on Fore Street and will be walking everywhere. Nosh and Novare Res sound perfect, and thank you for the other options near the theater, we'll have plenty to choose from.

I'm thinking we should stop in at Grace for a drink just to see the space...worth it?

Portland Pre and Post Show Food and Drink Suggestions

My husband and I are coming up to Portland for the night next Friday. We're going to a show at the Portland Stage Co. at 7pm and were planning on doing a small dinner before the show and then getting drinks and maybe some late night food after. We eat all kinds of food and typically prefer to sit at the bar. A good beer selection would be nice too.

From reading the board it sounds like District might be a good choice? Fore Street?

Any plain old bar suggestions would be great too.

EVOO- Top Notch New American in Kendall Sq. 10/20/11

I can speak to how well EVOO has executed a group dinner in those private rooms. We had about 25 people there for dinner after my wedding (big reception the next day) and we couldn't have been more pleased. I was a little hopped up on post-wedding bliss so I missed a lot of the specifics but they made a menu for us with a few options for each course. The service was really amazing for a group of that size and the food was cooked perfectly. We were very impressed.

Vegetarian/Seafood Back Bay Dinner Options?

My cousin is in Boston for work staying at the Fairmont Copley and we're meeting for dinner tonight after work. She is a vegetarian but eats fish. I'm looking for something close to her hotel since she is pregnant (with twins!) and I would feel bad making her walk too much.

Any ideas for good seafood or vegetarian options near Copley? I don't have any favorites in Back Bay so nothing is jumping to mind. I'm not looking for fine dining, maybe entrees around $20?

After some searches one idea I have is Coda. Thoughts?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Where to go on a Sunday night in Cambridge for a special occasion?

I have always really enjoyed Ten Tables, and on a decent night it's a nice walk from Harvard Square if you wanted to have a drink there before or after dinner.

Quincy Adams T Stop

Remick's, also in Quincy Center, has a good burger. I have also liked some salads and a pizza there.

Cupcakes for Baby Shower?

For another local bakery Cake Spot in Quincy is delicious. Mix Bakery is also delicious and I believe they deliver.

Any advice for on-the-road outside Seattle?

Thanks. The PNW board kicked me over here but I'll do some town/island specific searches there.

Any advice for on-the-road outside Seattle?

I'm coming to the Pacific Northwest for the first time on my honeymoon and I would love any suggestions for the road trip portions of the vacation. We're doing Portland-Seattle-Vancouver and I think I've done enough research to eat for days in each city but any help on the parts in between would be great.
We'll be going from Portland up to the Olympic Peninsula likely staying at the Kalaloch Lodge. From there we'll continue around the park on 101 through Port Angeles then to Bainbridge Island and Seattle.
From Seattle we're going to the San Juan Islands and then to Vancouver.

Any advice on places to eat along 101 up by Olympic National Park? How does this road trip sound? Any glaring faults in the plan? Will we starve? For food we're not too picky but definitely want to eat some oysters and other local cuisine. We also love good bars with above average pub grub.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Best Foodie Suburb for nearlyweds seeking house?

I would strongly suggest looking more closely at Lowell as an option. It has excellent choices for ethnic food, especially Asian, and the downtown is walkable with a wide variety of restaurants. You can find a wide range of prices and types of food within a few blocks of downtown. As far as grocery stores go, Market Basket is awesome for ethnic foods and has the best prices but you'd have to go a little further for a Whole Foods or equivalent. I think a couple small wine/cheese/specialty shops have opened up downtown though.
I also think Lowell would beat a lot of other suburbs mentioned here as far as housing affordability.

You're thinking of Pho 88 which is excellent. Downtown Lowell has a lot of options for dinner. I also like Moonstones in Chelmsford.

Ice Cream Recommendations in Merrimack Valley?

Meadowlands in Tewksbury is great, I think their coffee heath bar is the best I've ever had. Their ice cream pies and pizzas are also an excellent cake alternative.

Bakery Recs for Wedding Dessert Spread

I'm looking for recommendations for a bakery to get an assortment of desserts for a wedding. We're not having a wedding cake but think we want maybe a small cake, some cupcakes, cookies and other random desserts. As of now we are planning on getting cookies from Lakota Bakery in Arlington. Any suggestions on another bakery that will have a variety of delicious treats? We're not too particular about what exactly the desserts are, just that they are good.
Thanks!

Marliave Gets My Nod...

I also ended up at Marliave recently because Silvertone was too packed. The portobello sandwich was excellent, on the same brioche bun mentioned above. We also had the rarebit app which I would recommend.

Wedding Caterer Suggestions - Arlington/Cambridge

I'm also getting married in Arlington this summer and hired Harvest Catering. They're doing a lot of grilled food, chicken, steak, swordfish. We're hoping that at least having food that is freshly cooked will bump up the quality compared to a lot of weddings we've been to. Has anyone heard anything or had any experiences with Harvest?

Gran Gusto atmosphere?

Does anyone know what the atmosphere is like at Gran Gusto on a Saturday night? I have reservations for tomorrow at 6:30 with parents who would generally prefer semi-quiet restaurants and I'm starting to second guess this decision.
Thanks!
