Smashburger Coming to YYC

They were way too oily but this was the first place I actually liked the fried pickles. I wanted to like them every time I've ordered them elsewhere but they have allways been too warm and mushy inside.

Kid friendly wing nite in Calgary??

We just went to Wlid Wings at 1129 17th Ave SW, Calgary.

Pricey but very good wings, they were nice and meaty and you could tell they came off a chicken, a large variety of flavours and the kids wanted more lava cake after pretending to be full of fries, sweet potato fries, wings and carrots/celery. Be warned I think the sweet potato fries are McCain's though they were pretty good crispy with a sweet tangy sauce I couldn't decide if I liked or not but kept dipping into.

It had a sports bar feel but the kids were welcomed.

Went back for the chicken. I'll be eating chicken when we go there. I had the grilled buffalo style, pretty good. The wife had crispy avocado club, it was spectacular. We grabbed a poutine, I loved it but I don't seem to like some of the poutines that are supposed to be good so maybe I don't know poutine.

Smashburger Coming to YYC

The burgers were nice and juicy. I might have made a topping error, did not love the BBQ sauce.

All the sides we had were excellent, smash fries, sweet potato fries, vegetable frites and fried pickles. My wife is talking about going for chicken burgers tommorow.

Best Italian food shop Calgary

I love The Italian Store. Some of the things I buy there are less expensive than superstore. SanPelligrino fizzy drinks, oringina and one brand of spaghetti. Someone here put me on to that place and I'm great full for that.

Finally tried Nando's. It was ok. Did not find it to be better or less expensive than Swiss Chalet. My Dad wanted a coffee refil then changed his mind when the lady told him it would be $2.75. I teasingly asked my wife if she would take him to Tim Horton's? I did enjoy the "garlic peri peri sauce" on the table.

Cristy's Rotisary seems better to me.

Smashburger Coming to YYC

We stopped so my wife could press her nose on their windows. They said they will open on Wednesday and will have Macay's icecream intheirmilkshakesinsted or hagandas,

I'm going to pretend this thread is not really old. Have you tried Dover pizza on Memorial and 52 st?

Ahh here's the "Where" thread.

2012 Calgary food trucks.

Just got back from the park after Jo Jo's. Garlic fries delicious, powerfully garlic. Poutine with meat also good. My wife liked the ribs more than me. I love the ones from Holy Smoke. Daughter had pulled pork, nice sandwich, mild flavoured pork. Wife apparently targeted the sauce as it was gone before I had a bite.

2012 Calgary food trucks.

I was looking for Jo Jo's BBQ to start off. Found her, http://bbqcalgary.com/
I guess there's a site for them so this tread is kind of redundant and will disappear.

Have a good one.

It must be almost time for them to start opening. Where's your favorite?

YYC Holy Smoke Bbq

Nice, time to investigate.

YYC Holy Smoke Bbq

Is there a "Big D's" I need to try? I have enjoyed sharing the small platter at Big T's with friends but it has never been good enough to defend them on here.

I need to give the Chick-N-wich another try but I'm excited they added chicken to the menu.

I'm really there for the ribs. Buck a bone? I'm in! I also pour multiple puddles of sauce on my tray to drag them through!

YYC Holy Smoke Bbq

We wen't to the North location again yesterday. Sign says they deliver and they have a tasty chick N sandwich now.

My only complaint is the rootbeer is 2.45 a bottle. Guess I should have grabed that bag o' Jack.

Pop Up Pot Luck Seder?

I'm in Calgary and have lost touch with any Jewish friends, most of whom don't have Seder themselves. One of the public ones like the one at the carriage house would suit me fine.

It would be nicer to find one with a real family but that is a bit much to ask.

Smashburger Coming to YYC

My brother said there's a "Coming soon, Smash Burger" sigh up on 32ave NE now.

Pop Up Pot Luck Seder?

There was this one but I didn't look for it until it was too late. We're not Jewish but I Have been to one inthe past and would like to take my kids and explain it to them.

5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?

Carl's jr? I wonder if it will be any good when it gets here? Anyone have it in Kelowna?

5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?

I think it's expensive too but even though I have had subpar burgers in Calgary locations a few times. I've had more really great ones.

I finally made it to an "In-n-out" in Salt Lake City. Totally not what I expected. Good burger, tiny and it seemed like I was at the cafeteria of Co-op or Zellers when I was a kid. Awesome prices though.

Pop Up Pot Luck Seder?

I wish I saw this a couple of days ago. I want to take my kids to at least a casual Seder but keep forgetting to plan ahead. I also saw a sign for one yesterday that apparently happened Thursday.

What's the next feast?

5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?

I have to say any time I have been disappointed I was comparing them to other times I was there. It's been great quite often. We went to the Deerfoot Medows location and I was quite unhappy with them, never could quite figure out a particular problem. It was at the point where I would probably drive to Airdrie from Ikea if I wanted their food.

This last time it was terrific. So I agree with you on both counts. They have set their own high standards to live up to and the person on the grill seems to make a big difference.

5 Guys Burgers in Calgary?

I love them but how far in advance are they buying the buns? They seem expired in my opinion. I never noticed until they opened here.

Maui with toddler--trip report

We found Mama's ribs and rotisserie in Kehei at Kukui mall. I could not make it to the one up Lahaina way but this one is spectacular for chicken and one of the nicest guys we have met, that's saying something here as we have only had one bad experience with service and the server was nice, she just abandoned us. There seems to be several Ba Le's here don't know if they are the same either.

Maui with toddler--trip report

We went to Ba Le. Our daughter and I has shrimp (salad) rolls and I followed with half a chicken sandwich(sub) I probably could have eaten the other half but we were going to Ioa valley and I may have been too full if I did.

My wife and our son split coconut shrimp that were excellent. Crispy dry shrimp with lettuce, noodles, mint, cilantro and sprouts. Initially I thought we were at the wrong mall as the food fare was tucked in the corner and it was an out door style mall.

Earlier I had to try a Zippy's burger, got it plain to sample the beef, pretty good but fried, I would have preferred grilled.

maui - eating/food report

We just got back from where Jaw's Taco truck is south just past Wailea. There is a green trailer that is grilling BBQ chicken breasts that I'm going to be eating more of. I nearly had to physically fend off my kids to get some and they had already eaten their food. I'll try to report back when we don't go after snorkeling, incase it was just that we were hungry.

Adventurous family looking for chowhound worthy food maui/oahu

We're in Maui at manakai maui and there's bottles of rum downstairs branded as "Original Trader Vic's" I wonder what it is? I'm tempted though I'm into dark more than golden. I will try to remember to report back if I try it.

maui - eating/food report

Gestes shrimp truck noted. Is there any others in Maui?

Smashburger Coming to YYC

I'm not sure because there is no signs but the location from the Herald article finally has some construction activity going on.

I would like to see a Carls Jr too, with a green burito.

Beignets in Calgary?

WOW!!!! That's right, four exclamation marks. I had a really good sausage roll with a real sausage in it that was totally overshadowed by the berry on custard on a honey pastry biscuit. I would have crashed the car if we were in motion.

So good!!
