Wolf vs Thermador 36"??

Thanks for clarifying that. Based on how it was explained in the store, with the burner cycling on and off, that makes total sense.

Wolf vs Thermador 36"??

Thanks for your feedback FattyDumplin and MSK. FattyDumplin, do you have the issue with the clicking noises on the surface burners that MSK is referring to?

Wolf vs Thermador 36"??

Thanks eLizard. Maybe I won't let the dishwasher sway me. Will definitely look at it in person before deciding if worth it. One other question since you bought pretty recently. Did you find that Thermador prices were identical across all dealers? I am hearing they are, but would like some confirmation from someone who bought in another market.

36" Range Advice - Thermador vs Wolf

Wekick, you are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for all your feedback. I am not professional in my cooking in any way - just someone who cooks and bakes well at home. I really had no idea how these ovens really work until I read your post.
So I will ask another question -- since the gas oven releases more heat, is it going to make my kitchen noticeably warmer than an electric oven? It is a very large space, open to a family room and very well-ventilated with Cavaliere fan above range.

Wolf vs Thermador 36"??

Thanks eLizard. Funny that there is the dishwasher giveaway on the Thermador (either all gas or duel fuel version). Like my Jade range, I also have a Jade dishwasher (undoubtedly bought on closeout when previous owners remodeled the kitchen). Dishwasher works ok, but basically looks like a Maytag where top shelves are already rusted after 5 yrs. Could probably use that dishwasher, but clearly not as urgently as I need the range. How do you like the Thermador Dishwasher? Did you get the one that came with the deal or did you pay to upgrade to a higher one?

Wolf vs Thermador 36"??

Thanks eLizard and Beach Chick. Beach Chick, have you had the porcelain issue on your 48" Wolf? I am getting the feeling that all these perform well, but if you keep seeing ranges with more bells and whistles at higher prices, it is easy to get carried away and buy more than you really need.

36" Range Advice - Thermador vs Wolf

Hi elizard. I would definitely consider the all gas Thermador as well. How do you find it with baking? I've had all gas before and thought it was fine, but everyone seems to make such a big fuss about having electric oven for baking. Also, how did you find it cleaning the oven without self-clean function?

Tripper, why do you recommend Dacor? How in your opinion does it compare to Wolf or Thermador?

36" Range Advice - Thermador vs Wolf

Thanks again for the info. I did see the reviews about the porcelain on Garden Web and will definitely be calling Wolf before committing to the DF range. AG could be the way to go, but I don't relish having to clean an oven and you don't get true convection cooking. To be honest, I use the oven more for baking than cooking, so I like to be able to do more than one cookie sheet at once. In my previous GE Café 30" gas (which I loved), I would have to keep moving the cookie sheets around since they really don't cook evenly with gas convection.

36" Range Advice - Thermador vs Wolf

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I currently have a 5-6yr old Jade (now discontinued) and noticed the same issue with the blue enamel in the oven. I think Thermador may have a similar porcelain. I will reach out to Wolf and see what I can find out on this. Due to the experience I have had with Jade (was 5 yrs old when I moved into house and 8 months later, doesn't work properly and part discontinued), I definitely want to stay with name brands where it is easy to get parts and service. Curious if any other readers have had the same issue with the porcelain.

36" Range Advice - Thermador vs Wolf

Can anyone provide a comparison on Thermador vs Wolfe 36" dual fuel ranges? Trying to figure out if Thermador is good enough to save the extra $ on Wolfe. Thanks.

Wolf vs Thermador 36"??

I am in need of a new 36" range and have narrowed it down to Wolf vs Thermador. Is it really worth the extra $ for dual fuel for someone who is a non-professional baker (mostly cakes)? I use the burners to sauté several times a week and the oven maybe once a week or every 2 weeks to bake. Also, what type of surface burner BTU output are people getting with LP gas as opposed to natural gas on the Wolf? If anyone has the all gas Wolf or Thermador, can you please comment on how well the convection bake function works. Has anyone converted a dual fuel gas to LP? How difficult is this for qualified person to do (e.g., plumber) and is there a risk of someone screwing up your oven or is it just better to get all gas and order LP from the factory?

Trade Joe's opening in former Borders's location in Stamford??

This is great news! Thanks so much for sharing! It's sad to see the amount of empty retail space around here and while TJ's may increase traffic on High Ridge Rd., it will also save us from having to go to Darien for their goodies.

Tried it recently. Very greasy spoon. McDonald's is better. That says it all.

Trade Joe's opening in former Borders's location in Stamford??

I heard this from someone I know today, but couldn't find any evidence that this was true either. I guess I am just hopeful that something good will move in - it has been an eyesore for a long time.

Thanks for your feedback. Sounds like dinner is not such a great idea. Looking forward to seeing how people weigh in on the deli sandwiches. Maybe a better idea for lunch.

Feedback on Alpine Tavern in Vail, CO

Thanks. If my friend is up for it, we will try the week after next and I'll let you know. I think I have been to whatever used to be in that location several years ago. Easy enough to get to from Vail Village transportation center.

Is Aria in Stamford worth the visit??

Thanks for your feedback everyone. Haven't tried yet, but based on the above, not in a hurry to go for what sounds like a pretty expensive meal (on top of the babysitting cost!).

Stamford lunch places

Capriccio is more of a scene than a restaurant at this point and extremely cramped inside. The food is decent, but the service is awful. Worse yet, the owner doesn't seem to care about the poor service. While not overly priced, the plates are not exactly overflowing with food as one expects in an Italian restaurant. We determined that another $.25 of Barilla pasta would go a long way on our $14 plate.
