Itinerary Change - 2 nights in Guerneville, 3 nights in St. Helena

Traveling to the SF Bay area in October. We’ve got the 3 nights in SF covered as we are staying with friends….then we are let loose to explore Wine Country!

Decided to change itinerary from 1 night in Guerneville to 2 so that we can enjoy the area without feeling rushed. This will give us 3 nights in St. Helena.

Monday
- drive up coast
- would like to have lunch at Café Aquatica in Jenner unless it makes more sense to find a spot in Bodega Bay
- wine tasting at Fort Ross
- check in at Sonoma Orchid Inn
- dinner: open to suggestion; Boon Eat & Drink is on our radar

Tuesday
- breakfast at inn
- Armstrong redwoods park is a MUST!
- Lunch – open to suggestions
- Wine tasting – open to suggestion
- Dinner: Dry Creek Kitchen

NOTE: some Sonoma Wineries on my list include Twomey, Jordan, Rodney Strong, & Thumbprint

Wednesday
- breakfast at inn
- head to st. Helena
*have a 2:30 tour & tasting appt at Schramsburg which I could make earlier if it makes sense
- lunch could either be in Healdsburg or at Solbar in Calistoga
- check in at Wine Country Inn
- Dinner: Farmstead

Thursday
- breakfast at inn
- 10am Pride tour & tasting (90 mins); picnic lunch on property – food from Sunshine Market
- 1pm Spring Mountain Vineyard tour & tasting (90 mins)
- 3pm Barnett Vineyard (60 mins)
- Dinner: open to suggestion; Press & Cook are on our radar

Friday
- breakfast at inn
- 11am Corison for tasting
- could picnic on property or head to Yountville for lunch
- afternoon is open – maybe a bike ride if weather permits
- Dinner: open to suggestion

Saturday
- breakfast at inn
- should we pick up lunch somewhere along the way to eat at the airport?
- depart for SFO; 2:30pm departure
- not food related, but would we have time to stop at the Marin Headlands on the way home?

Thanks in advance to all the great contributors on this board!!!

Monday Dinner Alternative

in the Final Eating Plan thread...JazzyB mentioned that MiLa is empty during the week at dinner time. I don't want to be the only table on Monday night....

Here's the current list of dinner spots: Emeril's, Clancy's, Cafe Atchlafaya, Cochon, Brigtsen's, and Dante's Kitchen. Patois for Sunday brunch, Bayona for a lunch during the week. I wouldn't mind hitting MiLa for lunch and then grabbing a burger at the port o call, or tapas at mimis.....

Monday Dinner Alternative

I've got a dinner reservation at Mila next Monday. However, after reading some recent posts, I'm rethinking this....

It sounds like Mila is a better place for lunch.

Any suggestions for dinner at this late notice? I would even consider something very low key in the quarter.

Thanks in advance!!!

Sunday Brunch

Considering Patois or Cafe Amelie for Sunday brunch. I have never been to either of these and can't decide between the 2. Love the outdoor courtyard at Amelie - but might it be too hot (june 5th) to enjoy?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Need Help for May Trip

Have you been to Patois? It was recommended to me on my upcoming trip. Their menu looks fabulous! I booked reservations for Sunday brunch there. Just another restaurant to overload you! :-)

Taking Students to Little Italy, Recommendations?

I second DiPalo's!! It's the only place I frequent in Little Italy....Located on the corner of Grand & Mott. Do the tourist thing and take the students to Lombardi's for pizza. Supposedly it's the birthplace of NY style pizza. You could also go to Ferrara's for pastries & gelato.

Macarons in NJ?

I can't say enough about George's!! They are still making the original family recipe (it's a secret) and the macaroons have not changed in 40+ years. And now they dip them in chocolate (milk & dark)!!! George's also has the best (imho) fudge on the OC boardwalk.

Saw a mention below about Shrivers in Ocean City.....Shrivers is known for salt water taffy and that's all you should buy there. no offense.

Easter Dinner - Morris County

All great choices - - Il Mondo Vecchio and Resto are more casual and less expensive options to Copeland and Restaurant Serenade which are slightly more expensive.

Also depends if you want french, italian or american inspired meals.

John Besh cooking show goes National

Watching Chef Besh on the Today Show this morning. Matt Lauer announces that he will star in a new cooking show. Is this going to spread him too thin and have a negative affect on his restaurants? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Anniversary trip

I would NOT go to Emeril's for a romantic anniversary dinner. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorites, but it's hardly romantic! of your list, I'd pick Bayona for the Anniversary dinner.

If we loved these places, what should we try this time?

As far as the restaurants that you are looking at now, I can only comment on Emeril's and Brigtsen's - - both are musts! imho.

Also look at Patois, Coquette, & Clancy's..

Happy to hear that you enjoyed Cochon - will be dining there for the first time in June. Love-Love-LOVE Bayona!

Enjoy!!
