You named my #1 (Pete's). My #2 is the Burrito La Silla and is huge. It's at La Silla in Round Rock on I-35 (in the former Michael's Tacos location). It has eggs, bacon, ham, chorizo, cheese and potatoes in it, same cheap cheese as Maudie's. I just love it. Their other tacos are great as well but the burrito is where it's at. It makes two meals for me. |

Sunday Brunch Buffet at The Park (Domain) You can get reservations for JA's on their facebook page, even for the Sunday brunch. Guess that doesn't help too much with the line wrapping around the dining room...but it's a start! This is for the Round Rock location. Not sure about the south location. |

Sometimes I just have to have a Big Mac. I like to add french fries and ketchup to the monstrosity. Thankfully this craving doesn't strike often! I also like they egg white breakfast sandwich, along with pretty much all their breakfast offerings. |

Airport to Round Rock dinner on a Sunday We've enjoyed Johnny T's BBQ in Round Rock off of 620. I would recommend this over the Salt Lick and County Line. |

I have no experience with chicken biryani but it looks like Kadai has it on Sunday's. Kadai is at Parmer and 1431. The service can be okay to downright awful but the food has always been delicious. I like them better Teji's (though I am by no means putting down Teji's!). Just another option you might want to check out. |

We hit up the new Sambet's trailer today. Had the gumbo, crawfish etouffee and the shrimp poboy. The gumbo and etouffee were slightly better than I remember, both with a little more heat and flavor. We both still really like them. The poboy was also still good. The bread was different, softer and thicker (from what I remember). I was able to pull off hunks of the bread and sop up some gumbo juices and still have plenty for the poboy. Think the sandwich is a little smaller. They are definitely not up to speed yet (he said it was just their 2nd day open) but the food is just as good as it was before. |

There is also a Torchy's going in at 1431 and 183A (across from the Ranch 1890 shopping strip). |

The green sauce at La Tapatia on Anderson Mill is my all time favorite. I went there just yesterday and based my ordering on what would go best with the sauce. (I went for the chicken flautas.) I also really like Maudie's. It's the level of garlic in it that makes me so addicted. And I must agree, I like the Chuy's pico/salsa stuff. It is just so fresh and light. I'm interested to see what else is posted! |

I am drooling over that picture. Wow. |

Puffy tacos smothered with queso Maudie's has this on one of their lunch plates. I'm sure you could just get a plate with a couple of those and rice and beans. Yummmm. |

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be Lakeline Mall. |

Their breakfast is also one of the best around. They have 3 kinds of gravy at breakfast - cream, jalapeno cream and skillet. Heaven! We have been going here for over 3 years and they only thing I didn't love was the meat loaf (more tomatoey/italian style than I like). Their fried okra is freshly made, their mac n cheese sinful and the Hill Billy Bar dessert is out of this world. Sitting under the giant oak trees is just the finishing touch on this place. Glad you made the trek out there! |

The Central Market Hatch Green Chili salsa is back and is my favorite to make homemade enchiladas. I add it to a sour cream sauce recipe and it is so delicious. We also really like the premixed burgers at the meat counter. My favorite is the poblano and cheddar while the fella's favorite is the black pepper/garlic. I noticed they are also doing turkey and salmon burgers now. We haven't tried those yet. Thanks for the tip on the frozen meat balls. |

Cheesy_rice - thank you, thank you, thank you! I took my 3 1/2 year old and myself to Gloria's Cafe last night. I am so happy I did. A little general info first - their menu is "Mexican and American Food" so they have burgers and cfs andand enchiladas, etc. They also serve breakfast all day, opening at 7 a.m. I orderd two chicken enchiladas, one with green sauce and one with suiza sauce. They were just exactly how I like enchiladas. The chicken was shredded, the tortillas hearty and the sauce plentiful. The suiza was a sour cream green sauce combo and it was so flavorful. So often suiza is boring but this time. The green sauce was a tomatillo, I believe, and was tangy and wonderful. The rice was very good, with the refried beans being even better. Their refrieds have a heft to them, not runny and not mushed beyond all bean recognition. The chips were fried up fresh and came to the table hot. They were crispy and slightly thick. The salsa was a roasted smoky red sauce, garlicky and oniony. My daughter had the silver dollar pancakes, which reminded me of Waterloo's pancakes (which is a very good thing to me) and she enjoyed them very much. The breakfast menu had omelette's, breakfast burittos and migas, etc. I very much look forward to sampling it. They have only been open one week and while we were there several patrons came in that had already been there before. I overheard one couple saying it was their fourth trip. Please go and support this delicious local business! |

Looks like Lakeline, just north of 1431. I'm going to try it this weekend and report back. Or maybe even tonight! This area needs some good food options. Thanks for the tip, cheesy_rice. |

Elpaninaro, I also was introduced to Lupe's while working at a public accounting firm in Houston and for the same reasons as you! That made me laught pretty hard. Did you work for a now defunct giant? I just had to ask. I worked for another firm later and the "NRL" was not a known term there. For shame. I also hit the soft opening last Friday. I shared the beef fajitas for one with my coworker. The fajitas were even better than I remembered. Extremely flavorful and tender with the thin tortillas that let you taste your meat and toppings. The price is a shock but we were able to share and feel satisfied for about $10 each, so really not out of line for a lunch. I am very happy for this addition to the area. I cannot wait to go back and enjoy a margarita on their patio. They did a good job setting it up, you can almost forget you're in a parking lot. |

Dim sum place going in the strip mall by IKEA. Didn't get a look at the whole name and cannot find anything online. It is going in the strip with Mighty Fine, Which Wich and Razoos. The sign is up but it looked like construction was going on inside. |

suggestions please! : job interview/ lunch I've done business lunches at the Roaring Fork at Braker/183. It's not too loud where you can't hear each other but it's not so quiet that you feel like everyone near you is hearing what you say. Food is good and nice ambiance. |

As far as the Czech Stop goes, my faves are the cream cheese kolache, the apricot and cream cheese kolache and the klobase, cheese and jalapeno klobasniky (sausage kolache basically). I'm drooling thinking about it. I haven't tried the other bakery but these are my fave flavors no matter the place. Other than that, the only other stop I like to make is at the Braum's in Hillsboro. I grew up with Braum's so this may be more nostaglia than anything else, but I love their orange sherbert. So if you catch yourself hankering for some orange sherbert while on the road, you might enjoy a cone. Enjoy your trip! |

I haven't been but it has been reported that the La Brissa Restaurant on Bratton Lane (off of Mopac) is the Polvo's north location. It apparently has the same menu as Polvo's and the name is supposed to change soon. So perhaps give that a try. As other's have said on this thread, Polvo's has excellent fajitas. |

I know Liberty Hill is a trek but Dahlia's Cafe out there is fantastic. Hand breaded CFC, jalapeno cream gravy, homemade fried okra. Live music on the weekends underneath giant oaks. |

2 minutes. We walked in and there were only 2 people in front of us. The line stayed that way the whole time we were there. |

Funny, I just went today for lunch and had a different experience. The brisket was most definitely melt in your mouth (and cut the proper way by one of the owners) and flavored so well. What we had was very delicious. Hopefully the consistency will get better. We also tried the jalapeno cheddar sausage, which was 50/50 combo meat and not overly greasy. The flavor was nice, with the jalapeno spicy without actually burning you. We also tries the chopped chicken (not sure why I ordered that!), it was fine but boring. As for sides, we only had the potato salad. It is mustardy and eggy (as someone else has described it), which happens to be exactly how I like potato salad. After we ate, we ordered a half pound of brisket, potato salad and mac-n-cheese to go for dinner. Cannot wait for dinner. |

Thought I'd bump this post to see if anyone has anything new to add. We're looking to share the Texas BBQ love to our non-Texan relatives. Any thoughts on who ships the best would be much appreciated. |

4 days tacos + brisket tour report I am so hungry now. Thank you for the excellent report and mouth watering pictures. Seems you had an excellent trip! I also am not sure what to make of the Upper and Lower Deck on I-35. I cannot tell you how many times I have discussed it with people in the car while driving on them. No one seems to know what they were trying to do with them, but I don't think it worked! |

4 days: tacos + chilaquiles + brisket with a 2 yo; pls review the plan so far This looks delicious to me. JMueller may be an easier option for you than Franklin, since the line isn't as long. Something to keep in mind, depending on the kiddos mood (I have a 3 yo, so I can relate). Zilker Park is just south of the river (not far from UT) and has a train and an excellent play ground. Please report back. I would love to hear your thoughts on our city. Hope you enjoy your trip! |

Eastside Cafe is just off I-35 on Manor Road and is good for lunch or dinner. Lunch may be faster and more in your budget. Very good food. |

Best Lunch Food near I-35 and 45 (near La Frontera)? Michael's Tacos for breakfast or lunch. You can call in your order or eat there. It is run by a husband/wife team. It feels good to support people who are living their dream, especially when their dream is so delicious. Beluga is another favorite in that area. The tower of tuna is always a big hit when I go with coworkers. |

Austin Short Visit with small children - Restaurant Recs for a foodie family Eastside Cafe might be a good fit. The food is delicious, I particularly like the brunch, and I have taken my little one there on numerous occasions. Also, there are chickens onsite, which my girl loves to "talk" to. |
