Sacramento - best ethnic restaurants on Broadway between Stockton and the River? This is an old post..but want to now add, 2013, that Akebono Japanese (in a strip mall on Freeport near Oto's Japanese Market) is a FABULOUS sushi and ramen spot. NO kidding. Queen Sheba is outstanding...still, on Broadway., |

The Taste - coming 1/22/2013 on ABC I did not like it. What was up with them pushing the NO button and then constantly saying they'd made a mistake. Don't push the NO button then. It was schizophrenic for me...some great tastes were tossed out and mediocre ones saved. huh? Seemed like everything decided beforehand. Did not like it at all. |

Open Table has a list of many that are serving that day. You are out by Rudy's Hideaway though...and we love it there. If you drive downtown..old town, Firehouse, would be a great choice. |

I always get their Sweetbreads. yum |

Fun to go to Kings Palace with a group...on Sunday's. We found going at 1 pm is the best time. We go sometimes as a group...message me if you want to go! melody4853@sbcglobal.net WE ARE going this coming Sunday the 12th with a group of like-minded Sac peeps. I think 1 pm. but will let ya know if it changes. All Sacto chowhounds welcome. |

have not read the other posts...but for fish monger and real butcher shop...Taylor's Market on Freeport! Absolutely. I agree about Corti Bros. as well. Would help to know what area of town you will be living in. If it's Elk Grove...you are stuck with Raley's or Safeway...unless ya want to drive. BTW....how could I forget Food Co-op on Alhambra and S street!!! Great organic meats and fish...and all other stuff. Many many Asian markets in Sacramento!! We are short on Jewish Deli's...but Rolle's is a great French Bistro in East Sac. I like Massulo's for Pizza on Riverside or honestly..if you want neopolitan, hit Cafe Bernardo midtown, Paragary's Bar and Oven or even Spataro's. All have great neopolitan pizza. Chando's for tacos...Bombay for Indian....and Akebono II for great sushi and Ramen. For absolutely fabulous tasting vegan...Andy Ngyuen's on Broadway. In fact...Broadway has a ton of ethnic resto's...Ethiopian, Indian, Thai, Japanese..and Asian Market too. Don't miss the Sunday Farmer's Market under the Freeway! Huge! Flaming Grill for Burgers of ALL kinds. |

Why is the Olive Garden so reviled? The calories!!!!!!!!!!! The made up Italian names. The calories. Not talking about that salad. |

Name a surprising/intense/unusual American dish. Hot wings, a side of Ranch or Blue Cheese Dressing for dipping, and celery sticks. Spicy chili to go with it. |

Rudy's Hideaway in Sacramento....liked it! They have remodeled since the last time we were there. It is out in Rancho Cordova...off Hazel on Folsom Blvd. It looks much better and we had a really nice meal there on mother's day. The place was packed. We will go back. It's not for the midtown crowd most likely...and we do enjoy the midtown restos, It's more of a family spot...although I did see a couple of romantic booths in the front. :) Prime Rib was very tasty...nice salad, and very delish dessert. Service was excellent..BTW. Top Notch. Next time...I'll have the lobster, which is their deal. |

After a recent heart attack scare, my cardiologist put me on the Paleo Plan. I am also running from a Diabetes II diagnosis. I love pasta....and grains..and beans..so didn't think I could do it. After 2 weeks...I feel so great that it is what keeps me motivated to continue. The added benefit? I am shedding pounds too!! Finding grass fed beef difficult to cook to tender though..and I like my meat med rare at best. Also using squash as my new pasta! |
|
|
no processed food on Paleo! |
|

I couldn't watch it all..only tried because they said it was "all new format". It isn't. Just borrowed from other shows. Boring...irritating..like most Food TV shows. |

Could someone help me figure out how many potatoes, how much mayo I need to have for this "project"? Thank you in advance!! Also...any hints to your favorite ingredient that might kick it up a notch would be appreciated. |
