Union Square Hospitality Group

I've been given a gift certificate to the Union Sq Hospitality Group and am looking for suggestions as to which restaurant I should visit. It's for $150 so the dining room at Gramercy Tavern is out- my fiance and I are getting married in a few months and money is tight; ideally we'd like our total bill to stay at or below $150 and just pay the tip out of pocket. Which is a better idea- the Tavern at Gramercy or Maialino? Or another from that group? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Does anyone know of a good spot to buy a bottle of high quality limoncello here in NYC?

Chicagoan in NYC- Ethiopian?

I recently moved to NYC from Chicago, where I lived in a neighborhood that has a huge Ethiopian population and I just fell in love with the food. Looking for suggestions of where to go here; I live in Manhattan but Brooklyn or Queens would be fine too. Thanks in advance!

Late Night Oysters?

I'll be flying into NO for 48 hours only on 10/19. Due to my job I won't be getting in until after 11pm. I'm going to no doubt be starving- any suggestions on where to have a meal that late? I would prefer oysters but anything decent will do. Staying at the W Hotel. Thank you in advance!

Searching for a no-menu place

New to Manhattan from Chicago. Taking a friend to dinner and he has requested "an authenthic Italian spot, as in where they might not even have a printed menu". Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Scotch Selection

I am looking for suggestions for dinner tomorrow night-- want a place with a decent scotch selection, where jeans & a polo would be acceptable. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Topolobampo- Help!

Thanks! Was confused b/c their website mentions dressing up, which is kind of a generic way of putting it, but then a review said it was full of tourists in khaki shorts.

What is the dress like at Topolobampo? Can we get away with nice jeans/ heels or not? Thanks!

Or let me re-phrase-- are there any BYO steak restaurants in the city besides Tango Sur?

Last minute dinner tomorrow

I need help finding a place for dinner tomorrow night. Either BYO or has a reasonably priced wine list; menu heavy on either red meat or seafood. (Not Tango Sur-- it's fabulous but was just there.) No Asian and no Italian. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Weekend Dessert

My mom will be in town this weekend, and I need a great place for dessert to celebrate her birthday after dinner. Can be anywhere in the city limits, preferably not too formal or loud. Must have a chocolate option or two. Thoughts?

One Weekend in Chicago -- The Best Picks: Help!

Best brunch- head to M Henry in Andersonville. You'll need to get there early-ish or risk waiting for a table, but it is worth it. Best brunch I've had in the city.

Boka?

I'm thinking of having a small birthday dinner at Boka next week-- maybe 6 people at the most. Thoughts on if this is a good idea? Thanks in advance!

Chicagoan in NYC!

I could not agree more-- I LOVE New York pizza! I actually grew up in Pennsylvania so I am well aware of what good pizza is. Chicago deep dish is not pizza, as far as I'm concerned-- it's 3 inches of cheese and a weird cornmeal-like crust. Bring on the crispy floppy slices!!

Chicagoan in NYC!

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry- didn't mean to offend. All I meant is that a loud, scene-y place is dfeinitely not her style.

Also, does anyone know of a good candy store in Manhattan? I'm looking for gourmet marshmallows. Random, I know. Thank you!

Chicagoan in NYC!

I am actually staying in Time Square (I know, I know, bad idea. Wasn't my choice.). I'm not checking any luggage so hopefully the wait won't be too terrible but who knows.

Thanks everyone!

Chicagoan in NYC!

$20-30/entree at most would be great. I don't have a lot of qualifications, other than that neither of us are big on Chinese. Tapas, Italian, contemporary American, Thai.... anything, really. As far as the area of Manhattan, I suppose it doesn't matter too much.

Chicagoan in NYC!

I will be in NYC this coming weekend. My flight gets into LGA around 8:30pm on Friday night, and then I'm meeting my mother at our hotel and we'll be heading straight to a late dinner. I'm looking for a place in Manhattan that is moderately priced and not too loud or scene-y (my mom is 55) with solid food. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

Thanks to both of you, these are really helpful suggestions. Now, is the service and atmosphere at Tru more or less formal than Alinea?

A Few Qualifications

My 30th birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and I am looking for suggestions for dinner. It should be somewhere that would work for a small group (6-8 people), not be too loud, and serve excellent dessert (I'm always dieting so on my 30th it's no holding back!). I've been to MK, Schwa and Alinea so those are out, but I'm up for pretty much anything else. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Best Chicago Seafood on a Budget?

My boyfriend is turning 30 in a few weeks, and I'd like to take him out for his favorite- seafood. I want to spend $250 at the most, including a drink or two for each of us. Suggestions on great Chicago seafood?
