for a special Christmas dish that has been in my family for generations. I get all my other wild game meats from Harmony Farms. Anyone have any leads on where i could find some in the LAish area? Help is greatly appreciated. ----- |

What obscure recipe book do you have and love? I adore cookbooks as a snapshot of the time and era they were published. Have a pretty decent collection now but there is one i would not function without. Five Roses flour "La Cuisiniere", traditional canadian food. It was first published in 1915, it has been in my family ever since. I have the 25th edition. It is my go to for basics. |

Takashi's noodles-ramen trial. i don't drive and i don't know of any close to where i live. But i found some at the Nijya market eventually. |

I wouldn't eat any animal protein left out of refridgeration for more than 3 hours in a non-frozen state. I know what my body can handle and what it can't. It's a FACT for me. Feel like arguing me out my decision too alanbarnes? |

Isn't it funny how so many things are linked to school lunches? My mom always made everything from scratch with the exception of Kraft macaroni and cheese. Looking back now it seems ludicrous but oh! how i envied the kids with pre-fab foods. Now that i am a mom of 3, i let them have some of that stuff on rare occasions. They are so willing to try new, healthy things that i won't begrudge a few exceptions like that. |

B.A.D. or BAD sushi on SM Blvd, near Le Saigon ditto. |

Soleil now has a menu of over a dozen different poutines. And they have a take on apdc's with foie gras and a balsamic reduction. They come in 2 sizes which is great, decent price and it's available all day, all week long. It is a must try, i am working my way through the menu, slowly but surely! ----- |

Sweet Rose Creamery - a mother's delight Lime Coconut was there, even though i love coconut, i cannot abide lime, so it was a no-no for me. |

Sweet Rose Creamery - a mother's delight they must've heard the critics over the scoop sizes because they were huge! We went last Thursday night, husband and two girls, around 8:30pm(love the late hours) Girls had single scoop of chocolate with brownie chunks. Good rich cocoa flavor and the brownies were plentiful and tasty. Farmer's Market summer melon. OMG. So refreshing, the melon is present but not overly sweet. Just the perfect ripeness in ice cream form. Chocolate Malt Hazelnut with marshmellow. Delicious. Reminds me of a Ferrero Rocher. I had a waffle cone(vanilla, crispy, sweet, holds up the whole time and is delicious) with banana and salted caramel. Sure it's not cheap, but as a treat every now and then, it is well worth it. No wait at all at night it seems. |

Food Network show looking for your favorite outrageous food the rabbit is by far my favorite there. So moist and flavorful! |
|
|
you're not wrong. In the past month i've been to 3 different locations and they flat out refused to make anything bigger than a 4x4, even after talking to a manager about it. |

V.I.P. overthrown in Palace coup ditto! |

You would have a hard time finding _________in Los Angeles... Ketchup chips, or All dressed chips, we have them up in Montreal, sometimes i've seen them on the east coast, but never here. And the Ketchup Fries chips are NOT the same. |

Yes Soleil is AWESOME. They are the refined poutine makers here in LA. Animal, love that place, well the food, the place itself irks me a bit. But their "poutine" pissed me off. It should not be called poutine, the gravy is liquid salt with no other taste, the meat was good enough, fries were ok, but the cheese, it's what makes a poutine. Where was it?! Just call it gravy fries with meat and i won't have a problem with it. ----- |

Takashi's noodles-ramen trial. sadly they deleted your post so i can't read back what you said! I do want to make a nice pork bone broth, it's my favorite while out and about, i want to see what i can come up with at home. |

I LOVE that stuff. I am from Montreal and we had the same thing we called it simili-poulet(simulated chicken, appetizing yes?). ----- |

that piece was filmed months ago at the original umami location. |

hello, i am looking for a specific patisserie that i ate when i was younger. i am 35 so not that long but i've only ever seen it in the east part of Montreal. I don't know the name of it, but here is a description: Is there any place i can find this again? i have been away in the US for a long time and miss it terribly, want some as soon as the plane touches down. If you know the name of it as well, that would be helpful. Merci beaucoup. |

This Saturday the family and I were itching to get out and enjoy the day but nothing high impact. Winding our way back to the car we looped onto Green st to see what little shops were there. The kis wanted something desserty so we can across this place called PappaRich, the king of buns(!$WTF?). It has a nice terrasse out front, minimal space inside. Smells of great coffee. Now the main attraction. The husband and I weren't really hungry but after being sung the praises of the bun, i had to see for myself. It reminds me of a rather large chinese steam bun from the look and shape of it. Butter. Salty, metly butter permeates the inner ring of the bun. The seem new here, only known in Korea. I bow down to the King of Buns! |

“… I’ve been there a hundred times.” The Cock and Bull still exists on Lincoln. |

Honey Kettle fried chicken for your lizard-brain that is exactly how i feel about this place. Not the best i've had but sometimes i just NEED it. |
