Chinese in Calgary

You should give Leo Fu's a try. It's on a side street off Macleod Trail and isn't much to look at, but the food is amazing.

Angry Birds YYC

I once saw that Glamorgan Bakery could take any picture and put it on a cake. Don't know if they still do it, but it's worth giving them a call...

Koob (Calgary)

My wife and I had lunch there yesterday and thought it was an amazing addition to 4th street. I had the beef bacon double cheeseburger (beef kabob, beef bacon, cheese and any toppings I wanted) and my wife had the lamb kabob. What I liked was that everything was made fresh, including their home made salsa and coleslaw. The sauces are also all made in house which is very unique. I found the wraps to be very generous in size (especially for only paying $7-8/wrap) and for a few extra bucks we got the meal deal (fries and a fountain drink). We purchased a side of hummos (also house made) to take home. It was a delicious meal and I can't wait to go back and try the other kabobs and sauces. Oh they have dessert too!

Poutine in YYC?

Try the Brasserie in Kensington, they have an original poutine and exotic ones as well (like with fois gras). The blind monk downtown also serves up an authentic poutine that tastes delish.

Best restaurant lunch menu in Calgary right now?

I would try Atlas Specialty for something different (good different) with a lot of flavor. Brava Bistro on 17th is also really good. Or if you can make it to Kensington, try the Winebar.

Poutine in YYC?

Try the Blind Monk on 12th Ave. Had the poutine there the other day and it's to die for! Huge, tasty and at a good cost. The waitress told me one of the owners is from Montreal and said the poutine HAD to be made the way it was back home. I enjoyed it.

Calgary Groupons: Anyone use them?

I've used Groupon a few times and I can tell you that it's legit. Great deals (especially if you already go to some of the places listed. You might also want to try Dealfind and LivingSocial as they are almost exactly the same as Groupon.

Small Plates tour cut short by Milk Tiger

Pretentious to me means ones self feeling of importance, which is not what you want to experience when dining out as a customer. A perfect example is the no sports apparel rule; on any given night you'll find jerseys being worn by patrons in some of Calgary’s best restaurants, including the Muse, Caesars, Alloy, Olives, Rush, Wine Bar, Seven, Chicago Chop House etc. I don’t place Milk Tiger anywhere near the tier those other restaurants are on. Just another reason for me not to go back. But hey, to each their own.

Unusual Eggs Benny? (YYC)

Belmont has a Montreal Smoked Meat eggs benny that is pretty good. I find most other spots in Calgary don't have the smoked meat. Jacqueline Suzanne's is always a good choice as well for other variety.

Small Plates tour cut short by Milk Tiger

I've only been to Milk Tiger once, and found it to have very pretentious service. Won't be going back.
