Will I regret my res at David Burke Townhouse?

I was there on Monday, emailed on Tuesday, sent a follow-up today and got a phone call soon after. He wasn't making excuses and more than made good in my book.

City Kid - have you heard back from anyone at the restaurant? After I saw that you emailed David Burke, I decided to send an email to the manager of DBT. as well. Took a couple of days, but he just called me back and couldn't have been nicer. He definitely made up for the poor service that day.

Will I regret my res at David Burke Townhouse?

My experience yesterday was similar - asked about the RW menu and got the explanation of the regular prix fixe lunch menu. Instead of arguing, we just ordered off of that. It was fine, but was looking forward to the other options listed online. We had to ask for wine and cocktail menus a while after getting seated - we were never asked if we'd like a drink or anything like that. Dessert came out, but we were never asked at any point if we'd like coffee or anything else for that matter. I did enjoy what I ate, but also not rushing back.

Sunday afternoon meal around 3PM for 9 people near Park Ave So and 26th

Primehouse does brunch until 4pm and is in your price range if you stick to the brunch menu.

Is it for this Sunday (or even next)? It's still restaurant week. I would guess that 3pm would still fall into the $24.07 lunch category, but that's really just a guess. Artisanal and Resto are in the area and participating in the extension.

Recommendations for a bottomless BRUNCH place for 15-20 people

I've been to Sunburnt Calf (on UWS) a few times - it's always a really fun time, but I've never not had to wait a while even with reservations. And they won't seat you unless the entire party is there.

You're missing Calle Ocho from the list, too. AYCD sangria bar.

I believe there is a pretty comprehensive list out there, too. (Wined & Dined put it together, I think).

Unusual food between Woolman rink and the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

Not quite unusual or ethnic, but Shake Shack might be a good option - the kids will like it and it's not too far out of the way and it's quick enough (as long as there's no crazy line). And something you can't get back home.

Shake Shack February 2011 Flavors - Any Must-Haves?

I tried it, but I don't think I'm the best judge because it went right into my freezer and I had it a couple days later. I'm also not the biggest chocolate fan and was hoping for actual pieces of thin mint cookies! But it was good...

Has anyone tried the Bananas Foster? I absolutely love banana flavored ice cream.

Suggestions - Upper East Side

If he has a sweet tooth, the brooklyn blackout cupcake at Two Little Red Hens is not to be missed.

And I think my favorite bagel place is Tal Bagels on 86th between 1st and 2nd.

As far as bars...there are soooo many along 2nd Avenue. Nothing stands out to me in particular as a must see but then again, I usually look for the cheapest pitchers and best specials!

Didn't know that...guess I don't really wander 2nd Ave much in the winter - I'm on the west side of the street, too...and with the subway construction, it's hard to see much across the way.

NYC Brunch - large group, round tables

Not sure how big the round tables are at Landmarc at the Time Warner Center, but I know that we sat at one for a little baby shower. I think there were about 8-10 of us. It's definitely a subway or taxi ride from Penn Station, but a very quick ride on either.

NYC Brunch - large group, round tables

Calle Ocho on the Upper West Side has a large round table with a lazy susan in the middle in a little side area of the restaurant - if it's far enough in advance you might be able to reserve it. Not sure on mimosas or bloody marys but they have an unlimited self serve sangria bar.

Did you end up going? How was it? I'm planning a trip there in a couple of weeks for the extended RW lunch. I know there is the prix fixe normally, but I don't get much opportunity for weekday lunches and really like the RW menu for DBT.

Sunday breakfast or brunch for large (20-30 people) group

Maybe Primehouse? It's a huge restaurant and they have a nice back room that can fit that size group. The food is pretty decent and a good brunch deal which includes a drink.. Not quite Flatiron, but on 27th and Park, not too far, either.

Shake Shack February 2011 Flavors - Any Must-Haves?

Do you have the same flavors in Miami that we do in NY? Does it vary by store?
I really want to try the Thin Mint at the 86th Street location. Most of the flavors seem way too sweet for me. But I'm a sucker for anything mint.

Must haves/ Fun Foods/ Specials

I would vote for Papaya King over Gray's Papaya. There is also a Shake Shack across the street from it and Patsy's Pizzeria is just another (not even) 2 miles further uptown. If you're coming in a few months, weather should be nice enough to spend the afternoon in Central Park so you can even hit all 3 spots in one day.

Bring your own beer to a restaurant

Certain restaurants are BYOB and may have a corkage fee. Check out OpenTable - they have a list of restaurants that have free corkage & BYOB. There are also some other lists that have been compiled if you search google.

Looking for suggestions on Manhattan locations to do a baby shower for 25-30 women

+1 for Jane
Also heard good things about Primehouse for shower. They have a nice room in the back and brunch options are pretty good.

Trendy Birthday Dinner for Group of 15

What about someplace like Los Feliz? I think it's pretty trendy and really fun. Not THE best food, but decent and the drinks are great and the atmosphere better, especially downstairs. Great birthday party spot.

Citi Field Suggestions....

The taco combo at The Taqueria is really good - sample platter and corn on the cob is the way to go. However, my standby is Blue Smoke for the pulled pork sandwich. I've never bothered with Shake Shack...line is way too long. Supposedly there is some new Fried Korean Chicken in the Market that's supposed to be good, too.

I remember there being an article at the beginning of the season reviewing all of the new vendors for 2010, but I can't seem to find it.

looking for holiday party venues

Are you looking for the $2000 to include food/drink? I mean, your budget allows for under $7 per person. I can't imagine that going too far at all. Maybe a church or school (gym) would let you use the space and you could do buffet with trays of Italian food. Or potluck.

UWS brunch w/ unlimited drinks

I just went to Sunburnt Calf last weekend. It's definitely a work in progress but we had a great time and the drinks were definitely flowing. Every time I half finished my mimosa, it was magically refilled before I looked down. We had a 1:30 reservation. Mind you, our party wasn't complete until closer to 1:45, but we weren't seated until after 2pm. The food was okay. The special lamb burger was supposedly really good. I got the poached eggs on crabcakes for a $5 supplement. They were really good, but it took two tries. The first time it came out the yolks were completely hard inside like a hardboiled egg almost. I hate hate hate returning things, but I just had to this time. When they came out the second time, they were actually poached and pretty tasty.

They start and end the meal with some interesting infused tequila/vodka shots which was a nice bonus.

Can't really beat it for $18.
