Why not try Florence's on DW Hwy for good red sauce Italian?
PREMIUM SMOKED SABLE PLATE IN NASSAU COUNTY,NY
Top Notch closed? When?
I grew up in Oceanside; I'm now in NH and would be happy with even a mediocre appetizing store.
I remember when it first opened as Lincoln Appetizing in the 1960's. I learned about the joys of smoked fish from Lincoln.
Oy! What's this world coming to?
[Co. Kerry, Ireland] Recommendations?
I would definitely try to go to "Out of the Blue" in Dingle.
It's been several years since we ate there, but it was so good we ate there three times in the 10 days we stayed on the Dingle Peninsula. The reviews on other websites indicate that it is still going strong.
ISO: Business dinner/private party location in Manchester, NH
The Puritan Backroom has private rooms that would accommodate you. The food is average, but you can easily get a meal for that price.

German John's Bakery is great, but do not put mustard on his pretzels!!!!
He gets insulted!
German food in Hooksett NH--Bavaria Restaurant
Highland Park - do you understand what a reservation is?
A restaurant is under no obligation to accommodate you if they are totally booked and you do not have a reservation.
You have two obvious choices:
1. Plan your day around the restaurant-make a reservation and adjust your activities accordingly.
2. Plan your activities as you mentioned and take your chances.
It's that simple.
Favorite Cheese Shops?
Don't forget Dutch Epicure on 101A in Amherst - they have a separate cheese county of local New England cheeses - most of which I have never seen at Butter's or Angela's.
Matt Provencher has left Richard's Bistro
Today's Hippo Press reports that "On Saturday, March 5, executive chef Matt Provencher worked his last shift in the kitchen of Richard's Bistro...Provencher says his decision to leave was sparked by his desire to spend more time with his family...Provencher said his next career move will likely be to join the kitchen staff of a different area restaurant...Richard's Bistro owner Richard Vareschi...said he will be calling the shots at the restaurant now and his "very talented and hard-working prep cook" will have a bigger presence in the kitchen...
I thought that Richard's was the best restaurant in Manchester and that Matt elevated the cooking there to an even higher level than Richard had achieved.
Matt - you will be missed; best of luck in the future and enjoy your family!

Inn at Danbury closed-One less German restaurant:
Das tut mir leid.
I always wanted to go there but the location was not user friendly.
At least we have Bavaria in Hookset - Das Essen schmeckt gut!

NH - Worthy food publications?
The Globe's reviews are more honest than anything you will read in the NH press. They are the only dependable reviews you will find in this part of the universe.
Help with a 'houndish stop on my way from CT to Northwood, NH
You could also stop at Weintraub's Deli in Worcester on Water Street, off of the Kelley Square exit of 293. The 2nd Avenue Deli it's not, but the deli is decent and there is nothing like it in New Hampshire.
The atmosphere is almost that of a circa 1930 deli, complete with photos of the Weintraub mishpocha (Yiddish for family) and Jewish life in Worcester. Across the street is Widoff's bakery where you can buy real Jewish rye, pumpernickel and other great baked goods you can't buy here.
There used to be more food stores on the block but I think development has killed them.
Need recs for good restaurant in Nashua New Hampshire
Stay away from Unums. It's horrible.

A Caribbean Affair: Manchester, NH
I went once and loved it - I have to give it another try.
They even have breadfruit!
Sabrett's Hot Dogs availability
Sabrett's are definitely better then Fenway Franks; for that matter so are Nathan's or any Kosher dog.
I don't understand the appeal of Fenway Franks.

You also have to go to Miles Market in Hamilton - I wish there was one here!
Nashua Chen Yang Li - anyone been since it reopened?
I haven't eaten there, but the Nashua Chen Yang Li is not owned by the same people that own the Bedford CYL.

Worldclass bagels in Nashua & Manchester, NH
As a former New Yorker I am not impressed - Bagel Alley is not worth a detour.
In Manchester try Bagel Cafe - not world class, but edible.
What we really need is a great bialy bakery - I really miss Kossar's on Grand Street.
Help me understand Italian food in New Hampshire (and northern New England)...please?
He's from Dracut - what do you expect!
Republic Cafe--Gastropubbing comes to Manchvegas!
I agree with whs' comments about the Republic Cafe. I had the monkfish puttanesca, which was excellent (I'm allergic to shellfish so I love monkfish). The frites were delicious and fried with capers.
What whs did not mention was the wonderful atmosphere, which to me was evocative of a certain time in downtown Manhattan circa 1980 - an old building with tall ceilings, the beams showing, graffiti art on the walls with the Clash's 'Spanish Bombs,' my favorite song from the album London Calling, playing in the background.
Are there any other restaurants in New England where you can listen to the Clash, eat sublime food, and have excellent drinks?
I hope to return this weekend.
seeking southern NH facility for holiday party
Try CR Sparks in Bedford. They have private rooms and different menus. There is a very nice Hampton Inn nearby and they can help arrange transportation to the restaurant.
The price might be out of your range, but give them a call.
We had a wonderful private party there.
Market Basket - Is it OK?
Shaw's has bialys - where else can you find them in this area? That said, every supermarkets has things you can't get elsewhere, so I like to shop occasionally at all of them. Still wish they had a MB in Manchester.
Quick, Casual Dinner before Tanglewood
Agree with Lenox637--we used to have a weekend house near there--traffic is horrendous, and waitstaff can be surly when rushed.
Sweet Breads
Is there any store or restaurant in New Hampshire or the Merrimack Valley that either sells or serves sweetbreads? Its availability was something I took for granted when I lived in NYC.
Five Guys in Nashua!
What's the point of eating there if you can't get a hamburger the way you want - i.e. rare?
Angela's Coal Fired Pizza opens in Tyngsboro
It was also on WMUR (Channel 9) last night.
It's too bad - I enjoyed eating there.
Where can I find shad in the Merrimack Valley
Spring is here and one of my passions is both planked shad and shad roe - James Beard has a fantastic recipe for shad baked in cream and shad roe with bacon and I just had shad roe on a bed of creamed spinach at Central Michel Richard in Washington DC last weekend.
I have been unable to find anywhere except in Brookline or Newton which is a schlep. Does anyone know where I can find shad in the Merrimack Valley?
