Bean & Cheese Burrito, update

Total nube question about Lucy's menu. They offer a bean and cheese burrito and also a Bean and Green and a Bean and Red.

What are the green and red? Salsas? Does that mean there's no cheese? Totally confused here.

L.A. Dish of the Month, September 2014: OFFAL

Offal overall is not my thing either. However, I just came back from France and loaded up on Foie gras. Yum! Pity California banned the dish.

Overwhelmed -should I worry about making more reservations Paris 7/23-29

Hmm, I have a Wells Fargo Visa card. AHA64, I don't wish to hijack your thread. I can start a thread on this subject later. However, I did find the responses to your original question very informative. You've got a very nice plan, which we will do some research on. Our trip is at the end of August to a few days in September.

Overwhelmed -should I worry about making more reservations Paris 7/23-29

Hello Parisian hounds, I have a somewhat related question about holding reservations with credit cards and didn't want to start a thread on this issue. I, an American, do not have a chip and PIN card as is the norm in Europe. Do most Parisians accept our medieval swipe cards or am I stuck 1) carrying loads of cash/traveller checks or 2) acquiring a chip and PIN card?

Thank you in advance.

So, the only to catch her cooking is if you happen to go to a pop up restaurant that no one knows about.

NYC/LA pastrami battle - the three kings

My gf and I went to Langers today about an hour before they closed. As we were happily munching on our #19s, we were discussing this thread. How can posters properly compare the three places (plus Brents) without doing a proper taste test, i.e., at the same time. One could reasonably compare a Brents Vs Langers by getting both sandwiches on the same day by two different people and meeting someplace to comparison test. However, a comparison versus places in New York is relying on memory instead of what's in front of you. I don't know about you, but my experiences can be influenced by a number of factors including which side of the bed I woke up on or outside factors like service.

That said, this thread has been very enjoyable to read, and I admire your quest for the top pastrami!

Side note: I would volunteer for said taste tests. ;-)

oh yes, ono....

Too often people have lost the ability to clearly convey their thoughts about places and sometimes assume others know which place they're talking about and where. LA's a huge place with lots of restaurants. Using abbreviations is often frustrating to readers who aren't as familiar with places and enjoy reading this board for good places. No offense at all to the OP who I think is a fine poster with good taste in food. End rant

oh yes, ono....

Seconded. What area of LA?

Watch out, CanadaGirl. The OP might extend his/her complaint to Canada as well! He/She has amazing standards that we peasants can't begin to understand, don't you know.

Why does baguette s*ck in this country...

Plus baguettes and bread loaves are ridiculously expensive here.... for bread.

Best Calamari- Mid City?

Hi,

We're looking for the decent to best calamari around either to go or eat in. We would preferably like to stay in the Mid-City/ Miracle Mile area. Century City or Culver would be ok as well. The other threads were over 4 years old, so I thought an update might be in order.

Thanks!

I don't think there are in and out privileges at the parking garage. You pay $15 to park and you wouldn't want to repay that fee. If there are no in and out privileges, then I'd stay in the park and then find a nice place afterwards like Joe's (not really walking distance).

Berkeley hounds relocating to LA, where to live/shop/eat?

As a former Berkeley resident, I long gave up on trying to find something even remotely close to the Berkeley Bowl and I've been in LA for 12 years now. I work in Alhambra and will check out Urban Radish on the way home.

DineLA at Craft

Excellent report, Oracle. We couldn't get our act together due to a move. By the time we got around to looking at the Dine LA, there were no decent times available at Craft (5 or 10pm!). We go to Craft every year for Dine LA and love the attention to detail, the extras, the drinks, and the food of course.

I love their granola and wish they would post the recipe.
