"Food" on Pico

Edit: never mind. I was thinking of a different place. The menu looks pretty good and the place is near the hiking trails.

A New Brunch spot in Granada Hills,CA: Belgium Waffle Haus

Hmm first time poster posting about a new restaurant with a review written that sounds like it came from an advertiser? Hmmm. I live in Granada Hills. I might check this place out but it sure sounds like a shameless plug

What does New York have that LA doesn't?

Mc Michael, those are all good places but most of those places are pretty pricey.

What does New York have that LA doesn't?

LA lacks lots of neighborhood affordable Italian places. There are some here and there but they're certainly not prevalent.

What does New York have that LA doesn't?

Reading some of the threads here, LA doesn't have NY-style food which causes great angst. Gee, no kidding.

Also I like how posters are just naming restaurants. Unless they're chains then of course they won't be in LA

First LA Visit from New York

In east LA, try Guisados tacos. I also like La Parrilla. You're not too far away from Alhambra and Monterey Park for fantastic Chinese food. There are countless threads on this board for Chinese and Vietnamese food.

Chain pubs

Crusting Pipe sounds interesting as we do enjoy wine and port. I'll drink anything for whatever the situation or scene is. I'd like to check out Gordon's as well.

I haven't been to London in about 10 years so I'm not familiar with the pub scene and wouldn't readily identify a chain from a non-chain. Once we decide on an area to stay, I'll ask some more specific questions about our area.

Chain pubs

Thank you for the responses. I should clarify. We will likely eat at a pub, but I meant to say have drinks mainly perhaps have a bite or two of some food.

We haven't quite sorted out where we are staying yet, but I have a sister in the Notting Hill area. I have heard, one should avoid pubs with flat roofs. True?

L.A. Dish of the Month, April 2015 -- FRIED RICE

Looking forward to this one

Chain pubs

Greetings from a fellow hound from LA visiting London in mid May. What's the best way to identify a chain pub versus a local one? Are there any good ones? As with restaurants and bars in the US, I'd prefer to eat at places owned and run by locals rather than a corporation.

Thank you

Favorite Asian-Style pastries in/around SGV?

What's everyone's favorite place to get cha siu baos to go? I'm thinking of the big ones, not the little ones at dim sum restaurants.

Friends visiting from England and Italy- where to eat?

If you're in mid city, take them to the Farmer's Market and everyone can have their choice of eats.

Chicken Pot Pie At Costco?

I had it last Friday night bought from the Costco in Los Feliz at a friend's little get together. Crust was surprisingly flaky, and contents were a bit salty but I'm very sensitive to salt. I saw two others putting extra salt on their portions, so there you go. I thought it had nice flavor and the gravy was nice and thick. I'd get it again for a dinner party or something to eat for a few days so we don't have to cook.

Sunnin Lebanese - I won't be going back

Yeah we've been to shamshiri grill and Shaherezad and quite enjoyed each meal though if I had to choose, I'd pick Shaherezad. Thanks for the advice about the new Turkish place. We'll definitely report back if we go somewhere Chow worthy. I'm not paying so I may not have much say in the matter. LOL

Sunnin Lebanese - I won't be going back

Damn, we were planning going to Sunnin next week as we have an event at UCLA but perhaps we'll go to one of the Persian restaurants instead.

What other Lebanese places are there in the westside or mid city?

Family Style, tasting menu or prix fixe for party of 12

Papa Cristos on Thursday nights, which is family style and a set menu. Plus there are belly dancers for entertainment. I think it's about $25/person

Tony C On Tiki Cocktails at Twin Dragon

I live down the street from Twin Dragon and it's our guilty pleasure since we aren't willing to make the trek to SGV on the weeknight. The drinks have a generous pour and, dare I say, the food isn't half bad for westernized Chinese?
