Ferocious chicken bahn mi

Having grown up along with Little Saigon in So Cal I have a keen taste for Vietnamese cuisine, at least for a non-Vietnamese. In the 70's it was the only place to get a real baguette! So having had my share of Vietnamese sandwiches I want to praise Dinosaur in the Castro. They have a small menu-5 sandwiches including a vegan choice. I've only had the chicken, but I will drive out of my way for it. The chicken itself is marinated so that it has an excellent flavor, the veg crisp and tasty, the hot pepper makes the perfect heat. Of course the bread is fresh and crusty. I seldom fall in love with one place, but this is the BEST bahn mi I have ever had!!! Oh, and the young very amenable staff is a def plus.

Brazilian Pao de Queso (cheesebread)

Used to travel to Brazil frequently and brought back Dr. Oekter pao de queso mix so my family could enjoy this delicious bread at home. Now I am looking for a place to buy the mix (there are several brands) or the bread already made. I understand it is also available frozen. Any ideas, other than paying ridiculous shipping charges online??

Where to buy fresh Sangak & Kashk?

THANKS sooo much. I just got home from back east and read your post and jumped in the car to drive from burlingame to sunnyvale, and it was worth it. The sangak was delicious and we had some aash. I believe it was a vegetarian aash we had that day which was delicious, full of beans, noodles, and herbs. They have a limited persian menu, just ground beef (koobideh) and chicken kabob, with rice or bread, and the soup. This market is a work in progress, it appears to have been bought out by a persian man who has a goal to make it like Wholesome Choice in Irvine, but less expensive. Fair produce, entire Sadaf and Golchin line of products. A real plus for Iranians and anyone else who likes good food.

Vegetarian Dim Sum

OK, I know traditional dim sum is made with pork fat, even the veggie and seafood stuff. i don't eat pork, so I stick to vegetarian chinese restaurants. In Honolulu, and New York I have been to great chinese veg places that do a full dim sum menu, complete with carts, etc. on the weekends. Is there any place that does it in the Bay Area. I will drive far!!!!

Where to buy fresh Sangak & Kashk?

i just spoke with someone at Middle East Market at 2054 san Pablo Berkeley. He said they have ordered the sangak machine from Iran and may start baking it in a few months, for what THAT is worth. I have researched this and the only places are in Irvine and LA.
