Broccoli Rabe - alternatives to sauteing?
And I tweaked it a tiny bit to include onions. Didn't have rice, so I served it with barley cooked with chicken stock. Amazingly delicious!
Broccoli Rabe - alternatives to sauteing?
This was tonight's winner and it was DELICIOUS!! Thanks!
Admit it....You go to Ikea just for lunch.
*Raising hand* Me!!
I really like the veggie crepes they do. They're really tasty. And cheap. I take my 4-year-old there on occasion and we have a nice little meal out that is really super cheap. He loves the meatballs.
But what I die for is the chocolate overload cake. It's without a doubt the best chocolate cake (mass produced) ever. EVER. I basically throw a whiny tantrum when they don't have it.
Are there fava bean spottings on LI yet??
I have been waiting all year for fava beans to return. Has anyone seen them yet??
Broccoli Rabe - alternatives to sauteing?
I have some broccoli rabe in the fridge now that's nearing its demise. I'd love to prep it in some way that would go with rice, and will saute if there are no other options, but are there other ways to prepare it??
Thanks!
Trader Joe's warning - and request
I use their frozen garlic and basil all the time - love it! :) (Haven't tried the cilantro)

Just out of curiosity - how are these different than the goyozas? Because I keep the veggie goyozas in stock at all times in my freezer.

I keep 3 packages of the reduced guilt mac and cheese in my freezer at all times. That's a great idea - I'd add some chicken to it as well.
What to do with apple chicken sausage
I often serve kielbasa with mashed potatoes, or of late, mashed cauliflower. I'm drooling right now reading that description! :)
Can ham hocks be frozen??
I want to make black eyed peas tomorrow in my slow cooker. The only ham hocks that they were selling at the supermarket I was at came like 5 to a package!! I think I'll only need 1 for this recipe. Can I freeze the rest??
Black Eyed Peas on LI?
And I'm not referring to Fergie and her entourage. Any place that has black eyed peas for takeout? I'm guessing LL Dent's, but even a little hole in the wall place would be cool!!
Guilty Pleasures
Taco Bell. It's the most perfect post-gig food. I get the same thing every time: 5 layer burrito, 1 crunchy taco and nachos and cheese. *drool*

Love love the edamame nuggets. My TJ's is out of them right now, but they are simply delicious.

I bought a box of this yesterday! I made them as soon as we got home - I got turned on to this last holiday season. Makes perfect pancakes!

Oooh....the reduced guilt mac and cheese is a big player in my house. I love it and my little guy does too, so we usually share a portion of it as a side dish. I find it to be (as far as frozen mac and cheese goes) top notch.
Trader Joe's Yea/Nay Thread - 4th quarter 2011 [OLD]
Oh that's odd. I bought a box after we tested them at the tasting station and they were perfect. I think I cooked them for about 15 minutes. I like that they are really meaty and nice quality chicken. Wonder if you got an odd batch with the breading falling off as that didn't happen to mine.
Of all the fast-food chains ... who makes the best ice cream shakes?
I will second Cheeburger Cheeburger simply because you can request any kind of shake under the sun. I've had a chocolate cherry cheesecake shake that was amazing.
Of all the fast-food chains ... who makes the best ice cream shakes?
I had a caramel one not too long ago and I'm still dreaming about it. Somehow Sonic's pumpkin pie shake isn't scratching the itch!
Rec's for Irish Pub that can accommodate party for Moms 80th Birthday
Cleary's Bar and Cafe on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh has amazing food. It's kind of sports-bar-ish. I'm not sure if they have a private area - you can always call ahead and see if they do. They are incredibly authentically Irish!
There's also Hemingway's on Wantagh Avenue is more of an American Bar and Grill but has a nice upstairs area that can be private. Their food is good as well.
Patchogue, Long Island - lots of new places?
I was driving through Patchogue over the weekend and it seems like there's a lot of new little places that have opened up. Is there anything worth spending time/money on??
What to do with apple chicken sausage
Hey - that's the brand that was demo-ing!! There's lots of great options on the site - thanks!
What to do with apple chicken sausage
I got suckered in by a tasting at my grocery store. It's delicious sausage. Any suggestions how to prepare or what to pair it with??
Thanks! :)

Yays - Chopped 8 veggie mix. It's all crunchy (I think there's carrots, celery, red cabbage, green cabbage, pepper, broccoli and 2 others) and very tasty and incredibly convenient. They were demo-ing it with the canned chicken as a quick, easy chicken salad and I bought both and am loving them.
Having breakfast on Long Island
Glad you liked it! I haven't been in years, but keep meaning to go back.

Ooh - I bought the tofu edamame nuggets too and loved them! They are really tasty.

Ooh - great idea on the veggie snacks to keep at work.
Waldbaums: Never Fails to Live Down to Its Reputation
So does the one in West Babylon. Freshly made donuts - if you don't buy them before 9:30 on the weekends, there's almost nothing left.
And almost half the price of Dunkin Donuts. ;)
