Looking for more ways to use fried herbs.

I've just recently discovered the joy of 'fried herbs'. I've been using them on my poached eggs in the morning (fried sage, oregano and parsley, picked fresh and fried in bacon fat) or just traditionally used as garnish in persian dishes (my boyfriend's favorite is fried mint on a traditional eggplant/kashk dip).

I'm wondering if there was other uses, other cultures, favorite ways to use fried herbs? I'm looking to expand my world here.

Thanks in advance!

Need ideas: what food to pack on a 48 hour bus ride + for a diabetic.

The guy is a man who would eat anything between bread. But I'm trying to switch it up and make sure he has at least some food (because he could easily go without and then live off a cheap muffin and a morning coffee all day). Thanks in advance!

Tips for making homemade goose sausage?

Thought I would seek out any information/tips of the trade before trying this with my mom within the next bit. A nice man gave the family 10 pounds of goose breast meat and my mom and I instantly thought of making sausages, and then smoking them.

I've found this link to work off on : http://honest-food.net/2007/12/21/smo... and I like the ideal of using rosemary and garlic as the main flavoring, but are there other spices that would really make it something special?

Thanks in advance!

Music, Food, and Memory: My Chicken Cacciatore Freakout

It really feels amazing when you hear a song that instantly reminds you of a monent, and for me/ this article, a specific food item. Think warm montreal night, by the water with your favourite people. One hand filled with a beaver tail and another with an ice cream cone, and your just sitting there laughing until you pee your pants. That... 'nothing on you' song by b.o.b was playing, and I swear, I guess I'm blessed that the song is still a popular one on the radio, because i instantly get warm butterflies in my stomach and tingles, that makes me the happiest girl in the world for a good minute or so.

Thanks, that's actually a really good ideal. I never thought about making it. And for sure, next time I'm on the mainland, I'll grab some.

nanaimo bars

I don't like people trying to upscale this square. People who are reading this for some direction should know that using chocolate chips for the topping is perfectly acceptable, if not traditional to the recipe. It's a down home, small town, created dessert. Don't over think it that much.

Birds custard powder is the original way to go, but i've used vanilla pudding mix with awesome results.

Over Ripe Plantains? Recipes? Ways to use them up?

Why waste right? Just wondering if anyone had any tricks of the trade to use them up. I've searched around a bit, and all I've found is "Plantain Moi Moi" using unripe plantain flour and crayfish, which neither I have.

Could they be mashed and used in breads or something? I'm just clueless about this.

Thanks!
