Weekend in Sonoma with a Little Kid

Hi,

I'm planning to drive up to Sonoma for the weekend of December 9-11. I'll be staying just outside of town with my husband and 3 year old son. I have a few questions that I hope that Chowhound can help me out with.

First, can anyone recommend wineries in Sonoma or Napa that might be better to visit with a kid in tow? He's a pretty sweet kid, and we take him to our local places down here in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but we don't want to take him anywhere too serious, and risk spoiling someone else's experience. I'm thinking that either somewhat larger tasting rooms, or else smaller, low key family operated places might be best. Has anyone had a good experience at a tasting room with a kid in tow?

Second, can anyone recommend either a good place to eat lunch with a kid, or else a good deli/winery picnic spot combo for lunch? Will it be too cold to picnic outside?

Third, I'm looking for recommendations on a non-wine related activity, like a hike or great playground or something like that to break up the day. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

San Jose ramen place open all day?

Hi,

I'm looking for a ramen place within easy driving distance of San Jose Airport that is open all day. I want to take my fam out for ramen after a long flight, but they get in at 2PM, and most places seem to close for lunch at 2 and reopen for dinner. Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks,
Rita

Many thanks! Those sound like great resources. I'm going to check out the Hong Kong supermarket tomorrow.

Asian Market in Brooklyn?

Hi, I'm looking for a market that sells a good selection of vietnamese/thai ingredients in Brooklyn. I live in Prospect Heights but I have a car. Any recommendations appreciated!

Weekday Lunch in Brooklyn

Also, just wanted to give a special thanks to Chorosch for the rec on Farm on Adderley. Also, forgot to mention that we had the "Field Selection" white wine, which was fruity and delicious and a lovely golden honey color. A steal.

Weekday Lunch in Brooklyn

Thanks again for all of the recommendations. We ended up doing Farm on Adderley today for lunch. Delicious, definitely scored big points with mom. We had the hen of the woods tempura, the bib lettuce salad with pumpkin seeds, cranberries, and goat cheese croquettes, the lentil soup with poached egg, the buffalo mozzarella with apples, and a side of cauliflower with guanciale and golden raisins. Everything was great, but the big winner was the lentil soup. Rich creamy and perfectly paired with the egg. We travel with baby, and he had the french fries with curry mayo (bad parenting, I know). They were also killer, and the waitress was incredibly sweet with the baby (his first crush, I think). A real winner. Can't wait to try out the other suggestions!

Weekday Lunch in Brooklyn

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I love Zaytoons and Aurora, and will definitely check them out for lunch. Anything higher end, or just really creative, would also be appreciated.

Weekday Lunch in Brooklyn

Hi,

I'm looking for some suggestions of restaurants in Brooklyn that are open for lunch during the week (specifically on Tuesdays). My mom, a chef from out of town, visits on Tuesdays, and would love to check out some interesting places. She works nights, obviously, so she rarely gets a chance to check out the more interesting restaurants, which tend to be open nights or weekend days. We're very open to good ethnic cuisine, as that is usually easier to find open for lunch, but would also really love some more upscale options as well. I live in Prospect Heights, but we are very willing to travel.

Many thanks,

Snowbunny
