they have a variety of zapps chips at number 7 sub shop. bway/29th st.
i saw them somewhere else too, cant recall at the moment but i will post if i think of it. edit -- oh wait it was in potbellys.
Akron restaurant recs
i went to ohio brewing company brewpub a couple summers back. nice place and while the food was ok if not memorable, some of the beer was.
swenson's is of course a classic and the first thing that comes to mind for me in akron, but prob not what you are looking for. also, sorry to hear vegiterranean closed :(
San Diego foodie moving to Bowling Green, Ohio
wow interesting. i lived in bg for years. lived briefly in toledo and worked and commuted bg>toledo and bg>findlay too. in addition i have spent a decent amount of time in san diego. if you can handle the often ruthless winters you can do this -- ha!
first, you will love the local pizza in bg. myles is the best, even since mr. myles passed away i have stopped by a few times in passing through and it remains good stuff. get a tomato pie and ask for them to put oregano in before they cook it up. solid! yeah try paglia's and pizanellos too if its still there. remarkable pizza even for a small college town. sam b's always has good sit down lunch options if nothing out of the ordinary and there is an old school diner right downtown you might get a kick out of.
explore toledo. you have to start with tony packos hungarian and a mudhens game, although you should try to get to the original tony packos over the new one next to the ballpark. an eternal ohio classic. yes beirut is a toledo classic as well. speaking of that, whole the region between detroit to cleveland is the hub of america's middle eastern population, particularly dearborn -- so explore that kind of food. to drive that point home -- you can't miss the huge mosque in the cornfield between bg-toledo - ha again! lets see, what else? mancys is another old timer to try up there if you like old steakhouses. i am sorry to report rustys jazz club has closed, rusty was a character and it was very well known in jazz circles.
so please do report back often -- i would be interested in what you find and we can help you along. more importantly, overall bg is a nice place and a great learning environment -- a real out of the way small college town among the farms --- with all the good and isolation that comes along with that.
Good Bar with Craft Beer and Good Food to Watch the Ranger Game Tonight
is that open now? good to know.
Best Steak Tartare in city
ditto -- thumbs up for the yook hwe at TAKASHI. very tasty tartare variation. they have one with natto too i want to try at some point. its a really nice place, but the prices add up quick in there.
the most recent time i had classic tartare was at LUCIENS. it was pretty good and i would rec it.
Seeking Restaurant very close to Film Forum

If you were entertaining first time Tourists to New York??
there is nothing wrong with LES HALLES or PO. they are what they always have been, middle of the road. if someone wants to go due to whatever connection to these populist chefs its fine. just do not order any beef dish at LH, its awful.
JAPADOG! Great dogs, great price, great place.
thx for the reviews i was very curious about this place - cant wait to give it a try.
Irish Breakfast or lunch - places in Manhattan that will cater
DUBLIN on hudson st has a nice irish breakfast - you might give them a call.

Great dinner at Momocho [CLE]
thats ok, as natives of cleveland we would be sceptical of say, eastern european food in southern california ;)
i really love the margaritas and the guac trio at MOMOCHO. i look foward to that. the food is very good too. i dont recall having the green bean sofrito , but it sounds good and i will have to remember to look for it.
Great lunch at Barroco in Lakewood, Ohio
excellent report thanks. weak drinks selection? i certainly agree with you about that and in fact personally i would take it even further and forgo everything else on a menu for any one great thing lol!
right off the top of my head ive got a brother, uncle and some cousins that will be very into this place. i will pass this along thanks again.
A first time visitor to Cleveland
SOKOLOWSKIs is the quintessential cle lunch if i had to pick one.
let us know how you fared!
The Clarmont restaurant n Columbus closes after 65 years
shocking and sad to hear. that was definately an institution. i really hate to see old school steakhouses disappear. you have me wondering, is THE TOP still open?
La Orquidea -- great Honduran food in the South Bronx
oh no i hope you did not make a special trip? its been closed for quite awhile. it slid downhill, not so much about the food as turning into a bar with some unsavory characters so everyone began to avoid it. bad decision.
Chinese Mirch --how hot IS it?
ahh but the vast majority don't even know about LOUIE & ERNIES. as they say in the michelin guides "worth ze detour." sounds like you are due a visit up there to cheer you up monsieur leff! ;)
japanese breakfast?
they do indeed for their weekend brunch thx.
still no sign of natto or natto packets. or a raw egg. hoping you just have to ask and all of these upscale places will have it(?)
japanese breakfast?
how did i forget PANYA lol? ive even had it there its good.
makes me wonder if the mini japanese groceries serve it as well? worth exploring that option.
japanese breakfast?
excellent work here thx!
question: as i kind of expected at these upscale hotel restaurants i am not seeing the natto. do you know if they have it? i suppose if they do you would have to ask for it. thx again.
Sit-down dumpling restaurant?
right. just next time take a deep breath before you make sweeping pronouncements as there are a lot of food spots in the chinatowns noone could possibly know them all even in any one of them and also quite often people that have that habit in their commentary will be mistaken.
bonus for the op is the dumplings are better than VANESSAS , RICKSHAW, et al.
japanese breakfast?
any recs on where to get a japanese style breakfast? kitano hotel? thx
sheepshead: ARBUZ CAFE
i had a 'nutty smoothie' here that had ground almonds and other nuts and granola that was unusual to me and tasty. they have teas and juices too. its on sb blvd.

Sit-down dumpling restaurant?
thats not true. DIM SUM GO GO is all sitdown and it arguably has the best and broadest selection of made to order dumplings in manhattan c-town.

istanbul recs??
i thought i would throw out a wide open general request for istanbul chow suggestions before i followup later with some specific ideas and questions. thanks if anything immediately comes to mind as a must not miss! going in april.
downtown brooklyn/metrotech: GOLDEN FRIED DUMPLINGS
This is a real mom and pop place in downtown brooklyn on duffield at willoughby that mostly serves metrotech employees. its fairly new, there used to be a jamaican place in the spot. they are very kind and much care is put into the preparation of the food, which you can watch being made. they get easily overwhelmed at lunch so try to avoid that time. small menu, everything is $1-4 including various dumplings, buns, pancakes and a few soups and other items. dumplings are very good, buns not so much. it wont blow your mind but its a decent cheap and local lunch where all the talk is the new five guys that opened up. with dekalb market closed for the winter this place is a great option if you are in the neighborhood.
GOSPEL UPTOWN restaurant - any reviews?
i need to go here next month for lunch on a saturday around noon. has anyone been? if so thx for your comments about it.

Overseas Asian – Authentic Malaysian food in Chinatown
lau as always thank you for your wonderful and inspirational review! not to mention the discussion it inspired. we are all, all meaning us old skool chowhounds that is, always on the lookout for malay cuisine and so this thread is very helpful.
Gulf Shrimp Purveyor
not sure, but for all things fishy i go to the shop at chelsea market.
if you have wheels you could go for the relocated fish market in hunts point in the bronx and have an incredibly wide variety of fish mongers to chose from - 2nd only to tsukiji in tokyo i believe!
