Japanese food tour LA this weekend

ok ok ok. adjusting list. Thanks for the rec's

Some of the "touristy / non foody" places are on there for checking out the design and not really eating there. There are three japanese chefs with us, they want to see food, we want to see spaces.

Japanese food tour LA this weekend

thanks for all the rec's. We are also looking into restaurant design so there are some non japanese places to see. Here's our map so far

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=107763897476565320636.000473cc7f677ae93b604&ll=34.087071,-118.360519&spn=0.202162,0.41851&z=12

might have to make another trip to try all the smaller places in Torrance everyone mentioned.

Japanese food tour LA this weekend

Our chefs and I are heading to LA Sun-Tue to hit as many Japanese restaurants as possible. Staying downtown for the Sushi Masters event Sunday.

Looking for rec's in downtown for all styles and price points. Also rec's for other areas to hit such as Santa Monica and anything in between.

Thanks!

Help... New Year's Day dining on NE Eve...

confused.. is this for new years day or new years eve?

Walzwerk

I'll have to give it a shot. They're website says their closed for the next week for the holidays though.

Pres a Vi

I doubt it's a reservation kink. Most places that just open (if they're smart) limit the amount of guest they'll take the first week so that they don't overwhelm the staff.

Anyone know where I can rent martini glasses in SF?

DESPERATELY SEEKING FOR A GOOD RESTAURANT NEAR WESTFIELD CENTER

A round for 10? Good luck outside of an old school Chinese restaurant. why round? I've always wondered about peoples fascination with them. Once they get to the size of ten+, it's not any easier to talk to everyone than a rectangular table would be.

Restaurant Takeover?

good luck trying to find a room that size in December this late in the game. Your best bets would be a sun-wed as most company parties are booked th-sat in December.

To "buy out" a restaurant it usually is priced slightly higher than what their nightly sales would have been for the night. But then you would need to find a place that has no prior reservations for that date.

Check out this website for that;

Good luck.

Buena Vista Changes Whiskey Brands for it's Irish Coffee!!

i'm confident that they found something with a similar taste since it's such a classic. And I would guess that it was either cost related or a biz realtionship gone sour.

Best sushi/fish/hawaiian in SF downtown?

You might try Ame at the St. Regis. It's in the same area. More expensive though. It'll cover the japanese/Sushi/seafood part of your needs.

Thanksgiving 2006 – San Francisco

wow! Nice work.

Best combination of food and view?

how about Sausalito? Any rec's with views there.

Sellers Market

There's a new location opening on Second at Market soon. I was looking for past reviews and there's nothing new in six months since the other location first opened.

The menu looks like it'll be a great lunch spot. any feedback?

What happend to Enrico's?

From tablehopper.com ....

OCTOBER 31, 2006 | SAN FRANCISCO I am very saddened to report that ~ENRICO'S SIDEWALK CAFÉ~ has closed as of last night, October 30. Lavay Smith was the last performer, a fitting finale since she has been performing at Enrico's for some time. I spoke with the GM, Al Russek, who explained they hadn't had a lease since January— the partners of Enrico's were hoping to remodel and re-launch in the coming year, but obviously couldn’t reinvest in the restaurant without knowing the terms of the new lease. After months of negotiations, the financial terms of the new lease just weren't going to work for both sides. While it's most definitely a sad closure and the end of an era (the restaurant has been around since 1958), the parting is amicable between the landlord and the partners behind Enrico's—it just didn't work out. Here's wishing the tight-knit staff at the restaurant sincere thanks for years of memories for many, many people. I know the closure of this restaurant is particularly poignant...

Dining in Healdsburg

Zin is good, and I'd recommend Willy's Seafood for lunch. Great Tapa's

Anyone try Lark Creek Steak or Zazil yet?

We tried the new straits on Thursday. Beautiful decor and the food was good. The service was a bit spotty, but it was their first day open.

It is a mall atmosphere before you enter the restaurants, but what a beautiful mall it is. The Dome and atrium is beautiful to walk. For those of you who bart/muni, you can enter the mall without going outdoors.

Slanted door rec's

Thanks for the rec's. Everything we had was excellent and the service has improved a great deal since the last time I went back when it first opened.

Slanted door rec's

I did a search and it's been some time since the last discussion.

Going tonight. what should we get?

The New San Francisco Centre

yes Straits is relocating there from the Geary St. location. Not just a move though, a whole new team I beleive.

With all the food spots mentioned on the website, this seems like another great foodie destination.

Gourmet Carousel - Not a Pleasant Ride

I would say it's inconsistant. I went once for the duck and craved it for motnhs before I made it back and had the greasiest duck ever. When it's on it's decent and a great value.

Calistoga weekend

wappo bar and grill has always worked for us. It is in the middle of town.
There's also Terra in St. Helena which is not far.

Bouchon Lunch and the Invisible Diners

your only as good as your busiest day. No excuse.

Something other than wine in Napa

cooking classes, biking, balloon ride and if you go coastal then, oysters, kayaking and hiking. All of course with a picnic basket of good food and wine :)

HORRIBLE experience @ Bar Crudo

True to that. They can't kick six existing people out of their seats. What I would've done as a restaurant manager was to appologize profusely and then served food to you next door, or made a reservation for you at another restaurant and have them take really good care of you.

Wrong dates happen from time to time and it's impossible to tell the day of who made the mistake. It's all in how the restaurant handles it from there. I always confirm day off any important reservations I made to be sure.
