Here, here Sandy! I love having all my cookbooks just as an at-home browsing library. And yes, a few public library cookbooks tend to find their way home too! |

Very true. I planned a Japanese lunch, starting with homeade dashi to watch Tampopo with a a friend and had to visit multiple Asian stores for specific items. My favorite discovery was a Korean store that sold chicken feet! |

Classic books about cooking not cook books - Roy Andries de Groot's The Auberge of the Flowering Hearth & Feast for All Seasons I also like Waverly Root, Thorne, Colwin, MFK, Gray as mentioned by others. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other stuff I like but that's the fun of perusing the stacks and re-discovering books. |

September 2012 COTM My Calabria: Vegetables, The Calabrian Pantry, Desserts Baked Ricotta-Stuffed Zucchini (p.246) Had some ricotta cheese left so this recipe stepped up to be tried first. I've done stuffed artichokes with breadcrumbs, etc. but never have tried a ricotta stuffing. This was mild but wonderfully flavored and tender. I ended up taking the remainder for lunch the next day and had to reserve a share for myself before my co-workers almost sampled my lunch to oblivion. |

Did Bambi Ruin it Forever in America? [moved from Home Cooking] FWIW, the popular supermarket meats that are less expensive than the "non-traditionals" are subsidized, no? |

What five cookbooks would you keep? Exactly! I love the idea of sitting in pre-chosen library that reflects my taste. I can curl up in a comfy chair, stretch out my hand with my eyes closed and be happy. |

Passing of Sam Fujisaka - Please share Memories Here, here on that. I'm only an occasional reader but was struck by his postings. They always made me note who had said them and then made me want to know more. |

What's the first thing you ate/cooked in 2010? Let's see, collard greens and white bean soup which is a point on the healthy side, but dinner tonight at the in-laws will be a seafood fest with few vegs in sight and much desserts so I guess this balances out. |

Christmas cookbooks--what'd Santa get you? what [if anything] will you buy yourself tomorrow? I can relate to stacking the cookbooks sideways but I couldn't resist picking up the following: I've been a CH fan for years but have finally decided to join the input amongst fellow food/cookbook appreciators! |
