Forgot to add Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries in Avon, CT on route 44. Absolutely awesome burgers and fries. Not a fancy place, but awesome food, fast service, good prices. They have burgers and hot dogs, as well. Their fries are delicious, as is everything there. Family friendly.

That's really what it takes to make a restaurant successful. It's pretty basic. If the food is good, if you feel like you're welcome and they're happy to have you there, if the food isn't too pricey - people will come.
There is a wonderful Thai Restaurant in Avon Village in Avon, Connecticut called VienThong, I think it was just renamed Walking Elephant. Great Thai food, cozy, wonderful service, prices are very good. You always feel like they were waiting for you when you arrive. Avon Village has a HUGE rocking chair right on route 44. Can't miss it.
Amici's on route 44 in Avon, CT is also great. Italian food, great service, excellent prices, and cozy and clean. It's located in a small strip mall, you will be surprised when you walk inside. Nice atmosphere. $6.00 lunches. Really. Great wait staff.
La Trottoria in Canton, CT - also on route 44 is a good, old fashioned Italian restaurant. Good food, old fashioned Italian feeling, great martinis - an they are reasonably priced. No $10 martini at La Trott. Not even $8.. Great bartender. Wait staff is sometimes a bit iffy, but worth going to.
Looking for a good burger? The burgers, service, beer and martinis at Plan B in Simsburyt is a fun burger joint. They have a varied menu, you can't go wrong, there's something for everyone. A bit pricey, but not bad. The restaurant is in an old train station and is a fun place. Service is good. It can get pretty busy on a weekend night. Worth trying.
Not far from Plan B is Apollo Pizza. This pizza place has been in town for ages. Love their pizza and salads. Reasonably priced, good family restaurant. A local favorite.
Polish in New Britain, Ct
Just went to the Polish home for lunch. Pierogis were great, and the Polish plate was enough for 3 meals for me! There isn't a lot of variety on the menu. They had only sauerkraut pierogi when we were there and it was only noon.

Staropolska is very good.
Fatherland is ok too but the wait staff is pretty darn cranky and watch your bill, check it carefully. The last time I went to Fatherland is was just ok, I won't go back.
Baltic is very good, fun and pleasant wait staff.
German in Connecticut
Love the Student Prince in Massachusetts, and enjoy the Hoffbreau House in Massachusetts as well. Good German food. East Side is good too. Hoffbreau is a bit more formal, Student Prince is casual.
