Can you taste dish soap on your dishes?
So, I'm *not* crazy! At least not for this, anyway. I've been using Cascade "ExtraAction" ActionPacs. They're pink. They're HORRIBLE. All of our plastic water cups taste, nay... REEK of soap. To get rid of it, I need to rinse each under scalding hot water. I need to buy some new detergent.

Haha, YES! I realised I should've clarified that remark about it tasting like tea... it wasn't the peppermint flavour which was strong when I brewed a pot but the tea taste. How is this possible? Urgh.
So I made another pot this morning; this pot included freshly ground Dark Sumatra beans with a few generous scoops of the Peppermint Coffee -- the scoops of Peppermint Coffee were run through the bean grinder. Similar result. Even mixed with Dark Sumatra, the taste was very underwhelming and *still* tasted of tea. Bleh. I've read of others returning items that weren't up to snuff, think this is going back.
One for the "yea" category: Minty Mallows. Covered in dark chocolate. Pretty tasty.

Two of my most recent "nays": Pumpkin Cheesecake. I really wish I had consulted this thread first. Had a horrible texture and a hardened 'gummy' layer on top. Bleh.
... and the "nay" from this very evening: Peppermint Coffee (comes pre-ground). My oh my. The write-up in the flyer made it sound quite nice. With vanilla beans, peppermint leaves and red peppercorn mixed in with the coffee (instead of just added flavouring). What we got instead was a mild coffee with a very faint peppermint flavour. To me, it actually tastes like a strong black peppermint tea. Ever drink tea when you're expecting coffee? Ugh. Going to try shaking the can and adding double the amount for the next experiment. Might have to update afterward if it improves any.
Bullfrog BBQ Sauce?
I saw Bullfrog sitting on the shelf at Michael's Fresh Market in Naperville and remembered this thread.
It is, indeed, a mighty fine BBQ sauce. Two thumbs up from the mister and me.

Adding their Dark Chocolate Pretzels to my "Yea" list... or as I tend to call them, "Yays."
:D

Sorry! Hehe. That does sound divine -- using on top of coffee ice cream. Report back on how that goes? :)

Okay, so it's not just me then! ;)
Despite the hilarious name, they're mighty tasty. Forgot to say they've got toffee in them, methinks that's what's binding the nuts together.

New to the thread but not a TJ newb , finally back after a 5 year TJ-hiatus...
TJ Yays:
Mediterranean Hummus
Dark Chocolate Nutty Bits -- makes me laugh every time I see the package, unfortunately I have Beavis & Butthead humour tendencies. These little goodies are clusters of almonds, cashews, pistachios, pumpkin seeds and a dash of fleur de sel dipped in dark choccie. Tres bon!
Macarons -- Very nice considering they're from the freezer. Brings back fond memories of living in France (although those were much bigger!)
Not sure what happened to it, but used to love their "Super Dark Volcano" coffee or whatever it was called. Didn't see it so bought the Sumatra and it's quite good as well.
Old Stand-bys:
Animal Crackers in the plastic tub.
French Roast Coffee
Nay:
Olive Oil Popcorn -- perhaps just a bad batch, tasted rank.
Bullfrog BBQ Sauce?
Well, now I'm curious! I love a good BBQ sauce. Any places in Naperville I can purchase a bottle?
Western 'Burbs (Naperville Area): Any Good Bakeries?
Bit miffed at Sugar Monkey. They had their "Open" sign turned on, so we stopped to park and I braved the bitter cold to walk down only to find them, in fact, closed. Grrrr. Once I've forgotten about how annoyed this made me, I may try them again. ;)
Western 'Burbs (Naperville Area): Any Good Bakeries?
Thanks for recommendations everyone! I should've checked back here sooner as we just made a trip to Geneva this afternoon, doh. Bookmarking for future trips out to indulge in baked delicacies. :)
Western 'Burbs (Naperville Area): Any Good Bakeries?
We used to live in Naperville many moons ago. Then we moved to France. This little tidbit means the bar was set quite high for how all other bakeries are judged, at least on the bread and pastry front.
I'm not looking for a French bakery but if there is one to recommend that would be grand and I'm all ears. What I am looking for is a bakery with that little extra something -- flair, perhaps? We've done Great Harvest Bakery and while their bread is good and their snickerdoodles are excellent, it is a tad basic. I do adore Pastry House Hippo at Mitsuwa and hope it's still there (haven't been back yet).
It can be cupcakes, pastries, cakes, cookies, whatever... as long as it's yummy and not too boring. So I eagerly await anyone's recommendations of a "better than average" bakery in Chicago's West Suburbs...
Cheers,
Misa :)
