Looking for the best destination restaurants in RI, Mass, and CT

Night Kitchen is fantastic! Highly recommend, even with the lengthy drive.

Best Italian in Providence

I will back you up on Caffe Itri....went there this weekend and it was fantastic. The baked three cheese pasta special was a standout. Very reasonable prices. I agree that the best Italian can be found outside of the city.

Al Forno in Providence

I agree with you, Zabalburu. Al Forno gets so much bad press on this board but when I eventually tried it I was pretty impressed. The only negative of the meal was having to wait 1.5 hours for a table. I'll gladly wait again, however. We also got pizza and I got the duck. Everything was delicious and service was great. Yes it's expensive, but worth it.

Gypsy Apple In Shelburne Falls - Now Open For Sunday Brunch

Could you link to their FB site? i've been searching for one but couldn't find it.

Weekend Trip to Northampton/Greenfield/Shelburne Falls

Hi everyone...we are taking a 3-night trip to Western Mass in early May and I'd like your opinion on the restaurants I have planned so far. Any advice you have is appreciated! We really just enjoy good food in any form...casual, fancy...doesn't really matter. Any other advice you may have for the area would be great as well!

Thursday night - one night in Northampton - dinner at Moshi Moshi. We've eaten there before and also at Zen and we preferred Moshi Moshi. We haven't tried any non-sushi restaurants in Northampton yet.

Friday - moving to an inn in Greenfield. Planning for dinner at Night Kitchen at the Montague Bookmill. Thinking lunch may be at the People's Pint, but also considering staying in Northampton for lunch. Also planning to visit the Poet's Seat Tower.

Saturday - visiting Shelburne Falls. Dinner options include Gypsy Apple or Hope & Olive.

Thanks in advance.

providence rehearsal dinner

My friends had their rehearsal dinner at Zooma on Federal Hill. They reserved the back room and it was very nice. I am not sure what the cost was, however. Might be worth checking out.

North Adams / Williamstown help

I am going on vacation to North Adams next Friday for 2 nights and am looking for recent recommendations. I believe we will have one dinner at Mezze in Williamstown (any recent reviews?), and I can't decide on the second dinner. In consideration, are:

Gramercy Bistro
Taylor's Fine Dining
Spice Root

I'm also looking for some good pub-type lunch places.

Thanks!

catch a game plus good pub food in P'Town?

I think The Pig would be perfect for what you're looking for. It's on commercial st. Very nice pub with good food and TVs.

Dinner in Providence this weekend?

Couldn't agree more about Chez Pascal. Worth the cab.

Havana South (Portland) anyone?

I'm heading to Portland at the end of July and have eaten at Havana in Bar Harbor. I'd like to visit the new one in Portland....does anyone have any experiences to share so far?

One night for dinner - Providence or Newport?

Agreed, Chez Pascal is by far my favorite. Food is amazing and service has always been top notch. Not stuffy either.

Bachelorette Party Dinner in Providence

How about Cafe Noir? I don't think that's over the top expensive.

On another note, I went to Paragon on Thayer St for appetizers and martinis before my bachelorette party and it was perfect. Not too expensive, good drinks and a festive atmosphere.

Corpaccios Providence

My recommendation is Chez Pascal. The food there just blows me away every time. It's a place where you can really feel how much love and thought has been put into the food. Another plus is that it's on Hope St (East Side) so you won't have to deal with difficulty finding parking.

Provincetown Dead of Winter...help me decide...

Thanks everyone for the advice so far. Unfortunately, many of these recommended restaurants (Front St, Ross' Grill) are closed for the season. I checked celebrateprovincetown.com, which has a listing of what's open in the month of February. At this point I believe we may be leaning towards Lorraine's because it's closest to our B&B and we are arriving fairly late. Most places seem to close around 9ish so we'll need to make haste. I will be sure to follow up with a report!

Provincetown Dead of Winter...help me decide...

I don't believe Victor's is open. My original plan was Jimmy's Hideaway but it closes before we arrive. So sad!

Provincetown Dead of Winter...help me decide...

I'm heading to Ptown for a winter getaway with my husband Feb 26 - 28. I know that barely anything will be open. We plan to dine at the Mews on Saturday, but plans are up in the air for Friday. I've narrowed it down to Lorraine's, Ciro & Sal's, Fanizzi's, and Bayside Betsy's. We'll be arriving around 8 pm and ready to eat. I'm looking for something cozy but not too fancy. Leaning towards Lorraine's but would love to hear any advice anyone has for me. I have not been to any of these places. Thanks!

Suggestion for restaurants on Cap in Mid-March

The Mews is my favorite Ptown restaurant....possibly favorite restaurant period. It's open year-round.
I agree that JoMama's is great for bagels and sandwiches.
Here is a good guide for what is open in March:

Brunch in RI

My father and I go to brunch twice a year and typically it's at the fabulous Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestown. We are wondering if there are any other options out there. We're looking for a nice all-you-can-eat buffet style. The only other one that I know of is at 1149 in East Greenwich. Can anyone help me out with additional places?

Bourdain in Lowell, MA

I don't know what it entails either but my friend got tickets anyway so I'm going. He's always entertaining.

Any suggestions for Provincetown, MA

I also went to Saki this summer, in June. It was great. I'm a bit picky about my sushi and it was excellent. I just got some simple choices (sashimi and sushi), and some edamame and seaweed salad, but everything was extremely fresh and tasty. It has a nice atmosphere and the service was superb.

Obscenely Cheap in RI?

I recently ate at El Rancho Grande (Providence) with my dad. We had chips & salsa (free), split a taco, each got entrees (steak for him, chicken mole for me) and we each had a glass of sangria, and the bill came to $30, not including tip. The food is always delicious and authentic Meixcan.

Solo Dining in Novi, MI

Just began regularly traveling to Novi for work. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for places with a nice bar atmosphere where a solo diner can sit at the bar and have a few drinks and a good meal.

I saw that there's a Bonefish Grill in the town center, and also saw Gus O'Conner's. Any other recommendations for good food in the area?

Thanks in advance!

Best place for a special dinner in Portland?

Just returned from my first weekend in Portland. We went to Fore Street and 555. Both of them were EXCELLENT. Fore Street was more rustic and casual while 555 was a bit more upscale. I'd recommend either of them to anyone. I'm from Providence (great foodie city) and I plan to come back to Portland just for the food alone.

Bar Harbor

Here's a little write-up I wrote about my trip to Bar Harbor this past fall...

Broadway in Providence seems a hip place to eat

Love the Avery rec, that place is awesome. Going to Julian's then heading there afterwards is always a great night. Julian's is also good for vegetarians - they have so many options.

Craftsteak - MGM Foxwoods

I'm headed to Craftsteak for the first time with the hubby and friends tomorrow. The menu looks pretty basic so I'm wondering if there's any "must order" items. I want to make the best decisions possible since we're clearly going to be spending an arm and a leg. Thanks ahead of time!

El Tapatio (Rhode Island)

I am planning a birthday celebration this Saturday at one of the El Tapatio restaurants in RI. I haven't been to the south county one yet, but I've heard the crowds have been pretty big. Has anyone been recently and were there long waits? Also, in the past I've tried making reservations for larger parties at the Cranston location and have been told they don't take them. Does anyone know if the new location takes reservations for parties of 6 or more?

Thank you!

Xmas catering in RI

My mom is hosting Christmas for my (small - only 5-6 people) family this year and doesn't want to cook. Aside from Whole Foods, does anyone know of local places that would do a Christmas dinner for pickup? We are not looking for someone to come to the house and serve it to us, just do the cooking.

Bar Harbor Best!!!

I ate at Havana twice this fall (October - see my post about it), and loved it. Both the food and service were top notch...it was hands down the best dining experience of our vacation.
