Most authentic Thai

I was wondering last night - for those who have lived or traveled extensively in Thailand, where do you find the most genuinely Thai food in town?

Coconut samosa

I had a coconut samosa in NYC this past week at a place called Haveli on 2nd Ave. I think this might be the most amazing thing I've ever had. Anyone have any idea where they can be found in LA/environs?

Best sushi ever still at Shibucho on Beverly Blvd

My memory is that Shige used to be at Katsu (Hillhurst) , I think I recall him there the first time I went in 86, and and was taken to Shibucho in 88, not long after he took it over. He was friendly enough at Katsu, but at Shibucho he was the only sushi master i ever encountered who didn't scowl when I said I didn't eat fish, and just happily made me a wide assortment of the greatest vegetable rolls one could imagine.

shibucho on beverly ----- is it closing?

God, I hope not. My favorite restaurant, although I can't afford it anymore. Shige's gobo/shiso roll is my favorite food on the planet so far.

Sending Food Back for Unlisted Items in the Dish

If I order a pasta dish and it arrives with Parmesan on it that wasn't specified in the description I send it back. I think something like that, that so many people have problems with ought to be mentioned. I know a lot of contemporary kitchens do it without a second thought.

Enough refusals and maybe they'll figure out to ask.

Vegetarian Pot Pies

Would I love to find a vegetarian pot pie again! Especially in LA - I had a great one in Cambria some years ago, and making them myself is too much work.

Missing Leek Pie from Noodle House

Got to 101, and they have the closest thing so far, called Leek and Egg Omelet. Crispier but real good.

Missing Leek Pie from Noodle House

I finally got to JTYH last night. It was terrific. But no Leek Pie, not on the menu, and not when I asked. There were incredible Leek Bao, and a great scallion pancake, but no Leek Pie.

Guess I'll try 101 next.

Chinatown.. need new place

I'm vegetarian so ymmv, but I'm very fond of a couple dishes at Mandarin Chateau (formerly Mandarin Shanghai) - the spinach w/vermicelli and "vegetable bird".

Missing Leek Pie from Noodle House

When Noodle House in Arcadia/Santa Anita closed, my family lost one of our favorite treks for delicious Chinese. It was spectacularly unfancy, but we especially loved the Leek Pie and the hand-made noodles.

Despite the smug unreadability of the Weekly's porcine reviewer, I scan the reviews for a mention of anything like it, but nothing. Anyone know the place and found anything similar elsewhere? The owner and cook were from Tian Jin.
