Best Portsmouth Area Breakfast

I agree with you about Colbys. We were there about 1 year ago. We waited in the alley, it was nice that they had coffee outside for waiting diners. Our table for 2 was so small, our dishes could hardly fit, over-crowded. Food was good but an uncomfortable experience. The Golden Egg is excellent. Local people. Great menu and service. Friendly Toasty, although a local popular "spot", I wanted to take a swiffer cloth and dust all the memoribiia. Food was better than ok, but strange combinations. Popovers is good for either pastries, coffee, and an egg sandwich on the best bread, and yummy bacon. You order at the counter, and sit at a spacious table and have room to read the newspapers. Hope this helps. Let us know what you liked. I have excellent breakfast suggestions for Portland.

Favorite Saturday Lunch Spots in Portland

Corner Grill is a treat. The warm ricotta with herbs served with the best bread as an appetizer is highly recommended. We also had a marguerita pizza that was excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful suggesting specials for the day.

Lobster Dinner in February!

I am so glad you enjoyed your lobster dinner at DiMillo's. It was a great value. My husband and just made hotel reservations for downtown Portland in April, hopefully the lobster special will still be on. I doubt it.

NYer seeking foodie weekend in New England

I would recommend Newport, even in the winter. The Marriott is a great hotel. Stone House in Little Compton, pricey $175-$500/night in the winter.
Black Pearl restaurant or pub on the wharf has a very nice menu - diver scallops, lobster bisque. (the pub pretty much has the same menu but not so hoity toity, as the restaurant has a dress code. When I called for reservations for our October trip 2 weeks prior, I was informed that on Saturday night a jacket was requested, tie preferred, at all times no jeans, sandals, etc. We arrived on time and were promptly seated in the smallest of tables, next to a couple dressed in jeans and casual clothes,
We requested a slightly larger table and they were not able to honor our request. A bit snobby. Eat in the pub, you will enjoy. White Horse Tavern is also a very special venue. The best beef wellington, and home baked desserts, fireplaces that let us think you are back in the 1800's. After April, the best fried food is at Evelyn's just out of town, and the Quohag House in town. Hope you enjoy.

Best Burger

The Blazer Pub in Purdys, NY (Northern Westchester) is by far the best burger and fries I have ever had. They take reservations for 6 or more. Family owned, the nicest people work here and still are able to serve the freshest food at a reasonable price.

bissel restaurant ridgefield ct

Has anyone dined at Bissel restaurant? It has been open for about a year. Their sister restaurant, Deer Park, in Katonah, NY burned down this morning. No one was injured, but the building was demolished. I look forward to some reviews.

Bar Harbor Winter Dining?

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn in December of 2008. The Reading Room restaurant was exceptional. It is in the main building of the hotel, directly on the water. Also, nice quaint bar, good service. Let us know if you try this. Good luck. There is not much open in Bar Harbor in the winter months.

batali in westchester

We love Tarry Lodge. It would probably be better to eat at a table in the bar area with children. The lasagne is the best. I would pass on the cold antipasto. Excellent bread, expensive drinks. Nice friendly service. Make reservations in advance. Sunday afternoon is one of the best times to dine with children.

Dining in Portland and Portsmouth

We will be in Portland and Portsmouth at the beginning of February. We will be dining at Fore St in Portland and York Harbor Inn in York. Any suggestions, no thai, italian, or chinese. I look forward to suggestions. We will be staying downtown, but will have a car.

Looking for a good Salad in Westchester

LEFTERIS in Mt Kisco in the best, the salad is not served in a metal bowl, but served on a china dish.We order no onions, dressing on the side, and it comes with warm pita bread. The gyros are great, as well as any other dishes. We have taken out )approximately a 10 minute drive home, and the food is still hot and ready to eat. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The serving staff are wonderful, as well as the owners that welome you in and then as well on the way out..

Baked Goods In Westchester

Bedford Pastry Shop on route 22 have excellent cookies. Unfortunately, $22 a pound. I would also recomment their danish, but not refrigerated cakes, they look beautiful, but are not tasty. Good luck.

Corn Beef Hash

If you are ever in the Portland area, the best cornbeef hash we have had was at the Miss Portland Diner, 140 Marginal Way. Very rich, can easily share. Part of the building is an old railroad dining car with an addition of probably another 12 tables or booths. Family friendly. Good service.

Nice Portsmouth Dinner on a Budget?

I would suggest Warren's Lobster House. Kid's menu. The best salad bar. Not only sea food, but pastas and some Italian dishes. Special dessert mini price menu. Salad bar also comes with soup and cheese bar. A local family type of restaurant. If you like Mexican, downtown Portsmouth - Aguave Restaurant - huge portions - easy to share - Happy New Year!

Portland and Cape Elizabeth Recommendations

DeMillos' is fun. Sit in the lounge in front of the fireplace and enjoy great jumbo shrimp cocktail, chowder, and good drinks. Nice people. The restaurant at the Regency (Milk Street) was enjoyable, also romantic. If you want the best blueberry pancakes, go the Becky's and check out the locals. Had a cocktail at Fore Street, the best ambience, we will be going for our 40th anniversary dinner in February. We travel from Northern Westchester, NY to Portland every 2-3 months and have enjoyed so many restaurants. I will report back to you re: Fore.
