Whole Foods - Bayview and Broadway
According to this article in yesterday's National Post, Whole Foods is going ahead with a new store on the old Brennan's location....seems like a small spot to me...parking and traffic could be a nightmare....not sure how much I'll shop there....waiting for Longo's on Laird....

Thai Plate
Gotta give a shout out to this lovely little Thai restaurant on Bathurst north of Lawrence....
I've been there several times but not for a while...my friend and I went there for lunch on Wednesday and I was reminded how yummy their food is....we shared a mango salad and some cold spring rolls and then had two mains...a spicy beef/noodle dish and a chicken red curry dish....all very tasty and the staff is so nice and sweet...
Is it authentic?? I am not knowledgeable enough to comment but I know what tastes good and their food does....go...enjoy....

I have ordered my Thanksgiving/Xmas turkeys from FFTF and they were lovely....
Looking for "GOOD SEASONINGS" (pkg. Salad Dressings)..in Toronto
Nope....not available in Canada....was when I was a child many, many years ago but not now....only in the US...I get some every time I'm there...
The best Schnitzel
Love the schnitzel at Europe on Bathurst just south of Lawrence....very large portions well cooked...warm homey (not fancy) place....everything I've had there has been good with the sole exception of some very salty soup one day....
Lunch at Best Grill
So, yesterday my chowpal and I were in the neighbourhood and we decided to try Best Grill on Steeles just west of Dufferin.
Overall we were pretty pleased with our lunches. We started with a selection of 3 "dips"...baba ganoush, tahini and some lovely spicy carrots...served with nice warm pita...very generous serving...could really have made that our entire lunch.
We carried on though...I had the chicken shawarma plate with basmati rice and a "caesar" side salad...the shawarma was lovely and moist and served with a lovely BBQ type sauce on the side. The salad was forgettable....the rice was lovely and fluffy....I actually mixed some of the spicy carrots into the shawarma...very tasty.
My chowpal had some chicken shawarma over a large Israeli salad...chopped tomato, cucumber and onion....he was pleased with his choice.
Very friendly staff and it seemed a lot of regulars were coming in to eat or get take out.
All in all a good option in that neighbourhood...we are keen to go back and try some other menu options.
Thanks Hounds for letting me know about this place!

Bracebridge - Waitt’s Bakery & Rombo's
It was Waite's Bakery and it's long gone...still yearn after their Chelsea Buns...my brothers and I would take the boat up the river to the dock in Bracebridge, buy one or maybe two Chelsea buns and a few bottles of Muskoka Dry ginger ale and sit by the falls and pig out...good times....
ISO Mennonite Salami
Pretty sure you can get it at Fresh from the Farm on Donlands....they are open tomorrow.

Alternatives to Pusateris
Love Summerhill Market....either the original location on Summerhill in Rosedale or the one that was Sherwood Market on Mt. Pleasant Rd.

So glad to hear from someone else who has enjoyed their food...yes, the water pitcher is a nice touch...
Hope others give it a whirl.
Michaelos Fine Foods
Got a little card announcing them put in my door the other day....tried to get info from the website on the card but it's "under construction"....nothing there...kinda weird that you'd launch a business in this day and age without a working website....not rushing over there....
Very tasty food - Raby's 66 Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Toronto
We haven't been back to Iqbal in a while...last time we were un-impressed with a number of dishes swimming in oil...unappetizing.
We love Bamiyan and also go to the Hakka place across from Tim Horton's sometimes.
Very tasty food - Raby's 66 Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Toronto
I have to agree....the first time we tried it we were kind of shocked at the menu...but we decided to give them a whirl...as I said, we stuck to the Indo/Pak dishes but did order a Thai green curry the other day and it was very tasty too.
Would love someone to give them a try and give your feedback too...
We enjoyed...and will go back.

No....sorry...we didn't ask....it was very sweet but lots of spicing too....we found it very enjoyable...loved all the spicing....the biryani was lovely....
Very tasty food - Raby's 66 Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Toronto
Yup...pretty bizarre menu...have only tried one Thai dish and some of their Indo/Pak dishes...all very yummy...
I think the pizza is just a way to get cash from the school kids....
As I said....what we've tried....we really liked....
Very tasty food - Raby's 66 Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Toronto
My chowpal and I went for the 3rd time to this place at 66 Overlea Blvd (the old Country Style Donut...just east of Bamiyan).
Every dish we have had there has been very tasty and well prepared.
Today we had:
Lahori Fried Fish
Royal Chicken Boti Tikka
Thai Chicken Green Curry
A Cauliflower dish that I can't find on the on-line menu - very tasty
Biryani
Butter Naan
Enjoyed everything....
A warning....a large number of kids from the nearby high school come in for pizza at noon...all gone by 1 pm so go after that to avoid the youthful noise/chaos.
