locally made mozzarella

In O.C. Cortina's Italian Market in Anaheim carries their Burrata. I do not know if they have any info on their site, but I am sure that there should be several places in L.A that carry it. http://www.distefanocheese.com/ Check out the website for the whole story on Mimmo Bruno. I think you can find it at Bay cities deli. Definitely try it!!!!

Patina or Melisse?

Melisse! They will meet your needs whatever they may be.......

Huntington Beach: suggestions please for dinner?

A hidden Italian Gem is Mangia Mangia located on Goldenwest st just south of Edinger. Also, La Fontana is very good as well, they are small and located just south of Talbert on Beach Blvd. If you are looking for a Great Sushi Restaurant, then go south to Blue Fin. Blue Fin is located on PCH in Crystal Cove. Great Food period!!!

locally made mozzarella

DiStefano makes one of the best Burrata Cheese locally. I have not tried any of the other cheese companies that have been suggested, but read their stories on their websites. I am looking forward to trying them. You will be Very Happy with DiStefano Burrata!!! If any of the other hounds have compared DiStefano to Gioia or Angelo & Franco, I would be interested in hearing the comparison.

Dining near Knott's Berry Farm?

I would of recommended Park Ave as well, just a couple miles south of Knotts on Beach Blvd. It is truly a hidden Gem. Next time, definitely go next time.

Great Espresso!!

I have been searching for a Real Espresso in the O.C. for sometime now. I have asked fellow Hounds and they did not disappoint!

I went to Kean Coffee in Tustin this evening to see if they pull a Real Espresso. Wow! I am a huge fan now and will never step foot in a Starbucks again. Martin Diedrich is doing it all the right way. The staff is friendly and the beans are fantastic!

Thank You to all of you who turned me on to the Kean Machine!

Any gourmet food trucks...that cater?

I would call Piaggio on wheels. (949) 350-6557 . Piaggio used to own the Gaucho Grill in Brea, he is very professional and can adjust the menu to meet your needs. Good Luck! Post your experience, whomever you use.

"Hidden" restuarants around LA/OC?

La Fontana in Huntington Beach. Located on Beach Blvd just south of Talbert on the east side of Beach. Very nice Authentic Italian Food.

Bacara or into SB for dinner?

Eat there! Miro is Very good and the service is incredible. After dinner we walked into the resort bar and we were greeted by name and asked if we would like to continue drinking what we were drinking at the end of our meal. The wait staff knew exactly what we liked. They really do go the extra mile. We were there for 3 day's and never wanted to leave. Every course we ate at dinner was amazing. Have a Great time and please post your experience.

Any dining recommendations for my dad's 60th birthday near Fullerton Area? Must be either Korean or a steak house...

I agree OCAnn, definitely not the place to go for a memorable Birthday Dinner. Unless you would like to remember one of the worst meals you have had on your B-Day!

What’s a good Mexican restaurant for B-day dinner?

Border Grill in Santa Monica. Nice twist on some Mexican Classics.

Park Ave in Stanton on Beach. It is a Gem that not very many people have heard of. We have been going to Park Ave since the opening, it just keeps getting better! If that is possible.

good places to eat in Huntington Beach CA

You are right, it has been around for many years. I originally found it back in 2002 when Nichola owned it. He then sold the business to the new owner who has done very well in keeping up with Nichola's quality and taste.

good places to eat in Huntington Beach CA

I agree with OC Mutt, La Fontana is a hidden Gem. If anyone who reads this has not been, then call and make an appt., you will not be disappointed.

I also think Mangia Mangia is very good as well, but a little more casual. I usually go to Mangia Mangia for lunch.

Wil Wright's macaroons

The best Macarons that I have had are from XT Patisserie in Fullerton, California. The Pastry Chef Xuan, grew up in France and worked in Pastry shops growing up. Xuan has worked for Daniel Boulud at Daniels in NYC, Wolfgang Puck and currently works as a Pastry Chef in L.A. at The Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel. His Macarons are the Very best that I have ever had. You can order them through his website www.xuanpatisserie.com

By the way, the French call them Macarons, but the Italians call them Macaroons. FYI

Totally Organic Restaurant in O.C.

Thank You for the recommendation. I checked out their website, they are like sooo many restaurants that only use 1 or 2 organic items in a dish and think that they are serving organic healthy food. I am looking for a Real Organic Restaurant!

Totally Organic Restaurant in O.C.

Is there such a place? I know of a couple in L.A., but have not been yet. Any suggestions would be helpful. I do not eat at restaurants very often due to all the preservatives in the non-organic, non-fresh, prepared food that is served. It would be nice to enjoy an evening out once in awhile with out paying for it the next morning.

A beautiful Italian sausage?

The Best Sausage I have had in a Very Long time. Stopped by today on the way back from the Torrance Farmers Market (which was Awesome, by the way) and had a half Sausage with Peppers and half Meatball sandwich. My wife and I shared it with our 19 month old son Gianni, while sitting in the park across the street. Beautiful chunks of tender Pork, not all ground up that you do not know what you are eating type of Sausage. Big Thumbs Up! If you have never been, GO! Also, the best Pizza Dough in So Cal. We bought some for $.69 and made it tonight. Wow! Very Very Good.
