Romantic dining in SF

My favorite romantic dinner is the tasting menu at La Folie. Small restaurant, amazing french food.

San Francisco Pork Pie Source?

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Easter recommendation group of 10 visiting from Boston?

I love The Elite Cafe on Fillmore (in Pacific Heights). My favorite brunch in the city with fantastic cajun/creole inspired food. They will take brunch reservations, but I would recommend reserving pretty soon in this town that loves brunch.

"The Best Thing I Ever Ate" in the Bay Area

I've been dissapointed in Boccalone's cone, but then again I always love the Boccalone salumi plate at Berretta. Maybe its just being surrounded by the tourists in the Ferry Building that puts me off...

Green Chile Cheesburgers at the Green Chile Kichen?

That is a good tip! Thanks.

San Francisco Pork Pie Source?

Hi All,

I suddenly had a craving for english pork pie. Is there a good source in SF for Melton Mowbray pies, or locally made ones?

Sausage imports?

You're right about saags. I love their andouille.

Sausage imports?

I had the Salami Peppeto and it was, for lack of a better word, foul. Too many spices (allspice I think) not enough salt. I also got the (fresh) breakfast sausage, again way too much in the aromatics, not enough salt. Also an overpowering amount of sage. Maybe it was the hype or the price, but it wasn't worth it.

Sausage imports?

After an insanely disappointing trip to Boccalone I'm try to find a good sausage source. Is there a good place in the city to go for imported sausages? I love french saucisson sec, but various german products are wonderful too (weisswurst). Anyway, I'm basically looking for the sausage version of 24th st cheese company.

ISO Andouille Sausage

WHO DAT! (anyway) too late now, but I think Saag's "Louisiana Hots" are actually better than the andouille. And for next time you can order the real deal from Jacob's in LaPlace: http://www.cajunsausage.com/order.htm

That is seriously the best Andouille known to man.

Week before christmas...

Hi All,

I'm going to be in town visiting the in laws all week. I will be busy for dinners, but the days I will be on my own for probably three breakfasts and lunches (my wife will be spending time with family and old friends). So, I will be staying across from Harrahs with no car. What should I get to eat? I love po boys, cajun/creole, whatever. Last time I went to Port of Call for an amazing burger and got some tourist trap jambalaya (that was frankly delicious, New Orleans tourist traps seem to serve better food than the ones we have here in SF).

Anyway, what lunch choices (that will be open this week) can would you suggest?
