Seriously Now -- Which countertop appliances do you leave out on your counter?

I have a coffee pot, can opener, and my mixer on the counter. Anything else and I have no room.

Is Coconut Water Bad for You?

It is by far a superior energy drink compared to those energy drinks out there. I drink it occasionally for a boost of energy. The major downfall of this delicious drink, a natural diuretic. So don't drink too many!

Enough with this "presentation" silliness

Ah, glad to see I'm not the only one who finds this ridiculous. If I pay $25 for a plate, I want to see your expertise in the flavor not the presentation. Not saying that I would accept a gray pile of slop but I don't need shavings, and curls, and 3 sauces, and fruit bits I've never seen before along with some name no one can pronounce. That said, give me some good old fashioned mashed potatoes and fried chicken with a new kick and I'm sold as long as it's more edible than it is pretty!

Only Tools Don't Tip on Takeout, and Other Rules of Gratuity You Should Know

I'm sorry...if you offer takeout it's not a disruption. It's part of the business. I tip on quality and service. I have left what the waiter deserves, the bartender deserves, and if it's a serious problem, I will leave some with the manager. I am a complainer if I'm not satisfied. I go to be served and it needs to be done well. If I wanted to ask for my water, my napkins, my food, my drinks, etc. I would just stay home since I'm already doing it all myself. I'm not going out to fatten the pocketbook of some lazy rude waiter. Treat me well and I will reward you.

Rude guests bringing wine - should I have served it?

And how so had you been invited to her house and brought your lovely reds and she served you only her Mateus because she likes it? Would you have been offended had she not served your wine which you brought because you not only enjoyed it and wanted to share a gift with your host? One should consider the other side before being offended. I don't like reds at all. I like sweeter wines so I bring what I like and I really don't care whether it "goes" with anything or not. I drink wine because it is comforting to me and is my preferred alcoholic beverage. I find it bad manners to serve what you want, not what your guests want. I would walk out of a restaurant if they served me what they wanted rather than what I ordered. Gasp...bad manners.

Rhubarb-Braised Chicken Thighs

How is this rhubarb braised if you only add the rhubarb at the end? Hmm, I think that adding a rhubarb compote of some sort to top the chicken might serve the same purpose.

Is This Really a "Lobster Dinner"?

Ahh, we just ate lobster/gruyere raviolis from costco. I made my own alfredo and they were very delicious. The lobster was sweet. There were chunks as well as minced and they were stuffed. Definately worth it in my opinion.

Chocolate Company Seeking Beta Tasters

I am a chocoholic on every level. And I do pay good money for good chocolate. But I won't pay for someone to test out...that's silly. Hand it over for free people.

How Bacon Can Make Any Dish Suck

I agree with the overuse of bacon on everything and also with the egg on top of everything too. Bacons good but use in moderation!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It ... TIME TO PANIC!

LOL...I live in the northwest and we are used to lots of snow. That said, we have had a real riot listening to the terms, snowmaggedon and crippling, etc. 2 feet of snow paralyzes D.C. while 2 feet of snow here means maybe snow closures...maybe. It also signifies lots of hot chocolate mustaches and lots of stews and soup.

Super Bowl Food Faux Pas

I am doing a taco bar setup in the living room over warmer plates. They can come and go and eat tacos, taco salad, nachos, whatever combo they want and it will be set up right in the same room so no one misses a thing. I will set it up ahead of time so I won't spend all my time in a kitchen.

What was the worst food you HAD to eat as a kid?

My aunt had her own farm and made spaghetti one night which was my absolute favorite food on the planet. Well she didn't have any beef in the house so she "improvised" and used liver instead. Because they were poor, and we were guests visiting, we were forced to eat it. We still talk about how disgusting it was to this day and my mother has apologized for making us eat something so revolting.

Why are my chocolate chip cookies so flat?

I had the same problem so I started experimenting. It had nothing to do with cooling the dough. It was the butter. I only use Walmarts butter for them and they turn out perfect everytime.
