Pitti Gola e Cantina Wine Tasting Dinner - Florence

Hi cindor83. Yes, the 65E per person includes the wine. I'm going to try to upload some pictures that I took of the food. I tried to take a picture or each course, but I think I missed one or two. I know we started with cheese with honeys and jams, then bruschetta, leek soup, ravioli, salad with cheese, some kind of pate with honey, and then flourless chocolate cake. I'm sure these items vary each night, but we were really pleased with the quality of food. Since we were there for several hours, we left full but not overly stuffed. I can't compare the meal we had with ordering off the regular menu because we've only tried this dinner. We have been there for just wine and snacks but this was our first dinner there.

I'm not a wine expert, but I think we had some very interesting wines and we had a great time trying them all. I would recommend it highly.

Pitti Gola e Cantina Wine Tasting Dinner - Florence

My husband and I went to the wine tasting last night, and we had a wonderful evening. Emanuale walked us through a variety of wines and really made it interesting and fun for us. The food is served in small amounts but there were many courses, and I felt the quality was excellent. We had some of the best ravioli there that we've ever had. And we left very full and very satisfied with the event. I agree with the comment that it probably would be most fun to do with a group of people, but we definitely think it's worth doing.

I took several photos and I'll try posting those when we get home.

Palatium reservations help

I've been looking for a website to use for reservations in Italy. Have others used this and do you recommend using it? Or is it best to just call the restaurant?

Thanks.

Well, I still haven't heard from them after writing multiple times - and even using different email accounts. I guess I'll have to call them. Cookbug, when are you going to be there? Will you report back and review your dinner there?

Thanks.

Weekend in Milwaukee......where should we eat??

I'm not a fan of German food which is what many people think of as Milwaukee food. I think there are some great restaurants in the Third Ward area, and since you already plan to go there to visit the Public Market (great idea), I'd suggest you wander down Broadway or Water Streets and check out the options. The whole area might be considered "unique" to the area?

Also, there are several great (some new) restaurants on 2nd Street in the Walker's Point area (just south of the Third Ward). Crazywater is wonderful but also the new ones like Braise are also excellent. You'll need reservations for both of those.

Have fun!

First time in Milwaukee 1 lunch and 1 dinner, only.

I'd recommend Lakefront Brewery for your tour. They do a nice job there, plus it's in a great location by the river. If you really want the "big brewery" experience, you could always go to Miller, but I think Lakefront is more fun.

I'm not sure what you mean by "good dairy related food", but personally, I try to avoid chains when we travel, especially if we have the same restaurants at home. For seafood, you might try Meritage in Wauwatosa. Or if you want to go downtown, we really like Triskele's, and they usually have some kind of seafood on their seasonal menu.

Hope you enjoy Milwaukee.

Pitti Gola e Cantina Wine Tasting Dinner - Florence

I was hoping that someone would respond to your question since we are also hoping to try their wine tasting dinner. We loved going there just for wine the last time we were in Florence.

I've tried emailing them asking what nights they have the dinners and how to reserve, but I haven't had a response. Did you have to call them?

Thanks.

Report from Rome and the Amalfi Coast- Long

Thanks jmbinDC. We're going to be in Positano in a few weeks, and I really want to try Barilotto di Nonno. We won't have a car. Do you think we can take the SITA bus and ask them to drop us at the restaurant? Or maybe just take a cab from Positano? Is there an easy way to get to the San Pietro hotel first?

Simple and delicious suggestions between Pienza and Montepulciano...

We're going to be in the same area in a few months, and we've scheduled a tour and lunch at Avignonesi winery. If you go to their website and look for information on their Common Table, you should find it. I've heard good things about it, and we're looking forward to going.

An Early Look at "FnB" - Scottsdale, AZ

Thanks so much, ejs. We just returned from a trip to Phoenix and tried FnB after reading your review and comments of other. We absolutely loved the place and can't stop telling people about it. I had the leeks with the egg on tops which I'm still dreaming about. Everything was terrific and the people who work there are so friendly and fun. My husband insisted we return a second time just for the butterscotch pudding. Can't wait to go back!

Thanks for the great tips! Amalfi Coast 09 Dining Report (long)

Thanks for all the information! We're going to Positano in April, and your reviews will help us.

In your planning thread, you indicated you checked the closing dates for all the restaurants. I'm having trouble finding this information. Did you call the restaurants or did you find a way to determine what day they close?

Thanks.
