Gooey Butter Cake Recipe -- NYT
Here is a picture of Philadelphia butter cake for those of you who are unfamiliar with it. Philadelphia butter cake comes from Germany while the St Louis version was discovered by accident when a baker screwed up while mixing. (at least that's what I read)

I've never heard of a steak place asking if you want mayo on it, are you from western PA? Sounds like you went to a mediocre steak place do some more research next time or put the condiments on yourself if its too messy. I like Steve's in the northeast or geno's in south philly. Also its a matter of preference but I recommend staying away from cheese whiz.
Best pizza in Manayunk?
From what I've heard it was sold and the new owners couldn't recreate the pizza as good. Not sure if this is the typical the old is always better or not but dehydrated onions don't sound good.

Too bad you didn't get the Italian hoagie at Sarcone's I think its the best in the city my girlfriend is from south philly and she always gets them for me.
Also next time if you get a chance try the buttercake at Danish Bakers.

There is an Italian restaurant on Ridge Ave called PTO or something like that near Parkers Pub that is really good. If you go there early in the week they have some good specials. Also the moose is pretty decent and they have a parking lot.
ISO Donuts - Merrymead?
Danish Bakers is my favorite. Make sure to call ahead to reserve them because they only make a certain amount and they go fast.

If you were at Riekers you should have gone down the street to Danish Bakers and got some butter cake from there its by far the best in Philly.
