Hi All, My partner and I are coming back to NYC for a visit in april after having been gone for a year, displaced to Switzerland. We love food and really enjoyed NYC restaurants in the years we lived there. We will surely go to some old favorites, but we really want to try some new and exciting places too! Places we've loved *for guidance: Any recommendations? Thanks so much in advance!! |

Where can I take a Serious Foodie in UES/Yorkville? Cascabel is so fantastic. I am rarely disappointed there. The only thing I would not recommend there is the fish tacos. I just don't like their hearts of palm concept. But I pretty much love everything else, especially the pork belly gorditas, the costillo, the lengua tacos, and the hot chocolate/churros! Also, Cafe D'Alsace is great, but a bit loud. |

A french foodie's birthday dinner?! My boyfriend and I are both foodies and it is our last year living in NYC before moving to europe. He is french, and generally is not impressed by american versions of french food. However, we've had some excellent meals in NYC: I think our favorite was Corton when we went in october. We also really enjoyed Momofuku Ko a few months back and Anthos a few years ago. I'm trying to find a place for his birthday in ~ 2 weeks. I was thinking EMP but it's already all booked up. Per Se is just too expensive. I was pondering Gilt, SHO, Grenouille and Bouley. I've been to Bouley and really enjoyed it. However I'm shying away from Grenouille and Bouley because they are so french and i don't want to risk disappointment. Suggestions? Anyone tried SHO? Other recommendations? ----- Anthos Momofuku Ko Corton |

Updated Santa Cruz restaurant reviews/opinions, please! A few things not mentioned: Cafe Brazil on mission, great for breakfast or lunch |

Everyone forgot Cafe Brazil! its awesome and on mission. Also, theres a new mexican place on river and water which is excellent. the al pastor was fantastic and they had good salsas. my new favorite mexican place in SC. Also the afghani place next to the rio is a real treat, a great addition a town surprisingly lacking in ethnic foods. |
