Philip T's Profile

For those that love Pintxo...

The food here was fantastic. I don't quite know where to start. We ordered so many Tapas it was all so well done. The prep work for this food has a fabulous creative touch. I had the lamb ribs as my main course. It was simply outstanding. And the calamari tapas also really stood out as spectacular. Our server was also very good and knew his stuff really well. Very informative. Don't forget to make a reservation as this place gets quite busy and for good reason. I will be back here again for sure next time I am in Montreal.

A rare NY steak from Canyon Creek Chophouse Burlington is tough to top for steak! Awesome!

I didnt even realize it was a chain my first time there. I have been to Harbour 60 three times. Each time I felt unsatisfied and over charged. That is just me. I have never been to another Canyon Creek location. However i really did enjoy the food here. Ashley made it even better. Lol.

Authentic southern BBQ spots in TO?

Highway 61 on Bayview is crap. Stay far away if you want real BBQ.

A rare NY steak from Canyon Creek Chophouse Burlington is tough to top for steak! Awesome!

I went there tonight for the second time. My gf and I brought our 6 month old daughter there and sat her at the table with us, but in her portable car seat. The staff here is outstanding. Very friendly and very attentive . Our server for the second time in a row was Ashley. This girl is one of the best waitresses I have ever had anywhere. She is so adorable, very polite, and very attentive. The next time I go I am requesting a patio seat and her as our server once again.
The food is fantastic in my opinion. Me and my gf were joking calling Canyon Creek a "Super Keg"...lol. The steak is incredible. Rare....melts in my mouth. And the Blue Cheese crust is par none...and their lobster tail is amazing. I think Canyon Creek Burlington just might be my new favorite sit and eat location of anything, anywhere. I always leave this place happy and excited for the food I just inhaled. Lol.

And Ashley (I really hope I have her name right) makes an already great experience here that much better.

Roma Restaurant/Pizzeria on Bloor

I have been ordering the seafood pizza with cream sauce for quite a long while. This place makes that pizza so good that I put them with my top 3 favorite pizza places in the GTA. They do have new ownership, but I have eaten here twice since then and there has been no loss effect on quality IMHO.

Does Anyone Do Deep Dish in Toronto?

I will spread the word because this place deserves it. Mickey's pizza in Clarkson has become a regular treat. These people know deep dish. I just had the bbq chicken deep dish dragon and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Sadly CPK in Maple is closed, however I would have never found out about Mickey's pizza in Clarkson otherwise. They make fantastic garlic bread with cheese too. Going to Mickey's has become a weekly event for me. Anyone looking for deep dish needs to try this place.

Chicago style Deep Dish pizza in Toronto?

Go to Mickeys Pizza in Clarkson.

Mickeys Pizza for deep dish lovers. Worth the drive to Clarkson.

Ever since the sad day CPK shut down for some unknown reason, I have been searching for a replacement. I really loved CPK. The pizza and those melt in your mouth bread sticks. Spiro can not be replaced but Mickeys Pizza in Clarkson can sure hold its own. Wow. What a fabulous pizza they make. What a specialty store if I have ever seen one. Lol. I placed my order by phone... I went for the King Dragon Deep Dish. 2. One spinach and one pepperoni and sausage....and an order of garlic bread. After my order was placed they actually called me back to say they ran out of garlic bread. lol.

The guy inside Mickey is a nice guy. I picked up my order and was greeted by Mickey. We made small talk while my order was being finished. The pizza is fantastic here. Lots of toppings, an easy to eat crust, and the dragon dip is fantastic. 3 slices and I am stuffed. The quality of the toppings is also of a high grade. They load this thick. The bottom of the crust is bread like and thick. The pizza is well put together and you can use your hands. The spinach specialty pie is amazing. Loads of gooey cheese and spinach. The food was great and very filling. I am a new fan and I am happy to have found a place to satisfy my deep dish crave.

2 drawbacks. 1) The glass pop bottles are not twist open. My bad for being too lazy to get a bottle opener, I actually cut my finger trying to use my fork to open it. 2) This place is not too delivery equipped. I asked him about the possibility of a delivery to Oakville. He didnt take to that.

But the pizza was so good, I will drive to pick it up. Lol. Not as gourmet as CPK...but a solid and thick delicious pizza that will satisfy the crave.

WildWing? How to choose from 100 flavours?

I really enjoyed Wild Wing Oshawa. The staff. The ribs. Sadly that all seems like a distant memory now. Wid Wing Oakville stinks. I took my mom there for her birthday last week. Where to start? The starters are small. The meat is way over sauced. And I asked one of the waitresses if they did birthday cakes to bring to my mom, and she said NO. Not maybe...but NO. Only for our waitress to say yes they do. My timing got all screwed up to surprise my mom. I will never go to this location again.

Oki Sushi in Oakville. Fantastic place.

I had a Sushi crave. I had read some good things about Oki Sushi in Oakville. I took my family there yesterday and it was fantastic. The service was great and the Sushi was fresh and very tasty. I had the seafood boat and I loved it. Our waitress knew the menu very well and explained things very well to both of my parents who are not too familiar with Sushi. We brought my 5 month old daughter and this place was warm and welcoming. It was a little pricey but I am used to that in Oakville. I will go back to Oki Sushi again. It is comparable to the finest Sushi places I have been to in Toronto. Nice to have Sushi this good in Oakville.

379 Kerr street is where they are located.

What happened to their website?

I read on another site these guys are closed. What? Why?

Pickering?

I did research for this one and I was highly let down. I went online to look up a place close to or in Ajax for me to take my girlfriend out for Sushi at. My gf and I just had our first child and this was our first time out in a while. They close at 10:30pm. We got there at 9:30pm. That is more than enough time for a meal (all you can eat). From the time we walked in, you could see they were ready to close for the night. There was nobody there sitting in the place. Our waitress comes to our table with this attitude like us being there really bothers her. We then had some questions regarding portions, and our server went on to say we don't want those items and the all you can eat buffet is for only 1 of each. I knew that was a lie. We continued to get the items we wanted regardless, and as soon as I said "we would like to see a manager" she ignored me and simply proceeded to get out food items that we selected. Very weird. She brings it out, never replied to any of my thank-yous, was very rude still, and acted lke each food item we continued to order was coming out of her paycheck.

Being my girlfriends and mine, first time out in a while I think we did a fantastic job of ignoring how rude the service was here and have fun regardless...or at least try to.

We decided to go out and have a cigarette outside, we informed our waitress of this, she nods to understand, We are standing outside and this other woman runs out and says "Where are you going"! IN A VERY RUDE WAY. We were shocked by this. We went back in,

They demanded we pay our bill at like 10:15pm when they close at 10;30pm. We agreed to. The wait staff then left right away an the left some cook guy behind. We still had our soup and drinks left over. We had already told them that we are not interested in orderinng anymore food. The guy that was siting there watching us finish our drink and soup then stands up at 10:35pm and tells us we have to leave they are closing. I couldnt beleive this guy was sitting there watching us, and he had the nerve to standup, walk to our table and tell us we had to go. 5 minutes after they close.

All in all, food quality was fresh and good. the service stunk. We felt rushed and we felt like we were being treated poorly because we got there a full hour before they close.

I will never recommend Makimono Ajax to anyone. The service stinks.

late night cake?

Cafe Demetres cakes are garbage now.

They used to use a cake distributor named Nanny D's up in Vaughn that used all real creme cheese...ect...

...then they stopped using Nanny D's and went to some card board tasting crap.

Ever since Cafe Demetres stopped using Nanny D's for there cakes, I wouldn't advise anyone to eat them....at least not the Danforth store anyways.

Don't forget, it's Ribfest this weekend!!

I went to centenial park on Saturday. My first time at ribfest. It was hot out but I had a great time. Fun games and fun rides.

I tried both Crabbys from London Ontario and Camp 31 from Paris Ontario.

A total edge would go to Crabby IMHO. I thought there ribs were outstanding from Crabbys. Camp 31 is a little over blown imho. And the ribs from Camp 31 tasted over cooked and tough. I don't like those types of ribs.

I still think Wild Wing in Oshawa makes the best ribs I have had in the past 5 years. Lol

The Big Smoke Barbecue - Oakville

Not too impressed.

I decided to have dinner with my dad here the other night.

Service was slow, but friendly. Onion rings were so so. Coleslaw had too much vinegar imho, and the mac n cheese was just ok.

I had the rib sampler which included a half rack of beef ribs, and a half rack of pork ribs.

Rib meat was tough, tight, dry and a little over cooked. Smoky tasting....sure. But far from anything else. Lol. Sorta tasted like beef jerky imho.

I will say however that the pork ribs were considerably better than the beef ribs.

Wild Wing makes much better ribs than The Big Smoke- Oakville.

Will not return.

The Best Ribs in Toronto

I was very impressed with the ribs from Wild Wing Oshawa.

It was outstanding.

Slow service, but incredible authentic Mexican food

The business card says Mexican Lindo, but the store sign says - Fiesta Azteca.

I was a little confused at that.

South Street Burger Co. ?

Yes it is. Awesome onion rings too.

Simple menu. Burger or burger w cheese and/or bacon....sums it up...but very, very good. Good fries too. The Laird location is great.

Highway 61: I feel so ripped and dissed

Highway 61 is known to lie. They even had the nerve to take a quote from a bad Eye magazine review, and totally use it out of context on their website like it was a good comment when it was simply not.

Never eat the food of a place you can not trust. Highway 61!

Highway 61: I feel so ripped and dissed

Highway 61 is a joke. Horrible place. The worst on Bayview.

Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple. Easily the Best Pizza in the Toronto area. Worth a delivery charge.

CPK also makes an amazing Hawaiian deep dish. Wow!

I also love there garlic bread sticks. They melt in your mouth and are easily the best I have had. For such a simple menu item, CPK does them like a work of art.

Best burrito in the city...

Mexico Lindo (Fiesta Azteca) on 1618 Bayview avenue is the best Toronto Burrito I have ever had.

The shrimp one is stuffed with shrimp and simply amazing, and the other one I tried was the beef...also amazing.

These guys on Bayview have no website, but they are very good. Amazing Mexican food.

Slow service, but incredible authentic Mexican food

Mexico Lindo- Fiesta Azteca 1618 Bayview avenue in Toronto.

This being a place I have been to before, I decided to finally get a review down on these guys.
First off, the food here is amazing. This little Mexican eatery on Bayview is a special place with a comfortable food ambiance and great filling large portions.

The service however, is very friendly, but a little slow. Slower than last time, that's for sure. I thought I was simply hungry and grumpy, but no...lol...it was slow. No chips and salsa automatically when I ordered (I had to ask for it) and no cutlery when my food came. The waitress was very friendly and warm, just nowhere to be seen and probably tired.

This place is a family operating location and incredible food, and NOTHING LIKE THE COMMERCIAL WANNABE FAILURE OF A HIGHWAY 66 BBQ NEXT DOOR!!!
Going out to dinner with my girlfriend was fabulous and lots of fun. We craved this little Mexican eatery and the amazing Sangria they make. Hmmm. They use aall kinds of real fruits and it is so refreshing that you don't realize you are buzzed from the alcohol until you stand up. Lol.

We ordered some amazing Nachos and had an incredible cactus sauced lime flavored Calamari and it was fantastic.

My main course was the Burrito Grande with steak strips, and my girlfriend had the Burrito dinner with shrimps. Both were fantastic. There is a real homemade touch to the food quality. Even the rice and beans were delicious.
These guys make a fantastic Sangria. And again, the cactus lime calamari is to die for. So unique and delicious you just can't help but to love every bite and dip your bread in it afterwards.

If this place had a website, and if they were open a little later and perhaps had to people on wait staff at all times....this place would easily be a contender for best Mexican food in Toronto.

I will go back again and again. Too bad they are right next to the worst place to eat in Toronto- HIGHWAY 66.
Regarless Mexico Lindo is a big winner in my eyes.

Chicago Pizza Kitchen - TERRIBLE Experience

Well I ordered from them the other night. His wife answered the phone and the pizza arrived tasting incredible. I even received some samples of a new spinach product they are working on and that was fantastic too.

Chicago Pizza Kitchen is just as good as it was in November.

Highway 61: I feel so ripped and dissed

I feel for the OP. The owner didnt give a damn about my complaints either in regards to food quality or bad service.

Highway 61 is a dump. I felt ripped and dissed too. To the tune of $90.00 in which I left exact change. These guys served me broken bones and flavourless meat. They also write a whole wack of fake reviews and aside from their blatant shilling, they also take Eye Magazine bad review quotes out of context and they use it in their advertising...and still, nothing about this place changes.

Highway 61

I COULDNT AGREE MORE.

Highway 61on Bayview is a dump that has horrible food. The overall quality of their food is simply very bad. Mix that is with the horrible service, and you have yourself a horrible experience.

They asked me to contact them after a bad review I wrote on another site. I called them twice and they never got back to me.

I'm happy they didnt. If you want flavourless meat with broken bones and zero juicyness....go to Highway 61. A very bad eatery, with no attention to detail or customer complaints. I'm kinda tired of the fake "this is the best bbq in Canada" reviews too. These owners are clueless in so many ways.

Chicago Deep Dish in TO

I've writen a review in regards to www.chicagopizzakitchen.com. Being from Toronto, this is the thickest and tastiest pizza I have ever had. Fresh toppings, perfect goden crust, and layers and layers. You cant go wrong with this place.

Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple. Easily the Best Pizza in the Toronto area. Worth a delivery charge.

I didnt ask about Toronto. I may however be interested in investing in a Toronto location. Nothing like this in the GTA. I'm a big fan of this place all of a sudden.

Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple. Easily the Best Pizza in the Toronto area. Worth a delivery charge.

I figured it was about a half hour delivery from Maple to my house in East York. Spiro charged me an $18.00 delivery fee. I also made certain that my order was over $40.00 in food alone.

It seemed like a new concept for this far of a delivery. I did however express my peeked interest in what I had read about this place previously. He may have been just as excited about having me try this Pizza. He sounds passionate about his product and on such a personable level too.

Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple. Easily the Best Pizza in the Toronto area. Worth a delivery charge.

Ok. For starters, I don't write food reviews in anyway. I am new to this.

As a pizza lover my whole life, growing up in Toronto, I finally stumbled accross the type of Pizza I like best. Pan Pizza. Once this was determined years ago I then began to search for a pizza that I like best in a Pan Pizza format. Pizza Hut imho has always had the "take a number" company assembly line taste and it is full of mistakes and not that thick at all. Not worthy of the title Deep Dish. So my search continued. I've always read allot about the subject of Pan Pizza and I was on a quest for a Deep Dish in the Toronto area.

I finally came accross a referal on another message boards lounge section on the topic of Deep Dish and was advised to check out Chicago Pizza Kitchen www.chicagopizzakitchen.ca. Problem is I live in East York, and this store is located in Maple (North West GTA). I do drive so I did consider a trip out there. That is how badly I wanted true Deep Dish. So I called them, and I spoke to Spiro the owner. He was very nice. And he gave his business a personal customer service touch by way of his awesome phone personality. He told me a bit more about his history and company and he advised on trying the Spiro peperoni Deep Dish. I had 3 other friends to feed at my condo in East York, so I decided to go for it. I think I was still in complete shock that it seemed as though my quest for a true Deep Dish has now been matched. Lol. Anyways, Spiro explained a small delivery charge based on my location and I didnt mind either way. I was so interested in checking this food out.

My order arrives less than an hour after I placed it. A very sweet delivery girl shows up at thee time Spiro had said.

This pizza is simply amazing. I don't care if this sounds like a shill. I have never had pizza this tasty in my entire life. The pizza was topped with a meat sauce, the crust is flaky, tasty and amazing and the spices and marinated flavours of the meat and the Asigio cheese was incredible. The thickness was that of what I always wished a deep dish pan pizza to be. I need a knife and fork I thought, but the pizza is baked so well that I was able to pick it up and it held together no problem. Just like a slice would. 1 large pizza has fed 4 of my friends (all big guys) and there is still pizza left over. I have now found my new pizza place and it is called Chicago Pizza Kitchen in Maple. Keep up the good work Spiro. I hope to get to know you better and try more items on your amazing menu. **Side note** the garlic sticks are very original, crispy, and tasty. You will never have garlic bread sticks like this anywhere.

Ask Spiro for the green spicy chilli to add to your pizza. He included it in my order and if you like spices, it compliments the pizza in an incredible way.

I have no complaints. This is the best Pan Pizza I have ever had.
