Brittany/Bretagne - Quimper/Paimpol/Dinan Recs

Mmm cannot wait. Is the Breizh Cafe at St Malo similar to the one at Cancale?

Brittany/Bretagne - Quimper/Paimpol/Dinan Recs

Thanks for the confirmation regarding the oysters - definitely looking forward to eating them at Cancale. Is it necessary to make reservations for Breizh Cafe?

Brittany/Bretagne - Quimper/Paimpol/Dinan Recs

Hello Chowhounders!

I will be heading for a quick 3 night/4day trip to Brittany in 2 weeks and I was looking for restaurant recommendations. Near or around Quimper, Paimpol/Lannien and Dinan/St Malo area.

I would have loved to go to l'Ambrosie at Quimper but it's closed on Sunday and Monday (when I start my trip ...) and I heard of La Cotriade in Paimpol, but it seems to have lukewarm reviews so far.

Anyone have delicious foodie recommendations?
I've come up with
Breizh Cafe and Au Pied Cheval as good places to go but would love to hear more. For example where to get a good taste of the Agneau Pre Sale etc. and other must eats!

Also my partner is a vegetarian to my omnivorism, (but I'm not letting that get in the way of French feasting even if it means sitting on my lonesome in a restaurant. :( !) So if you know any good vegetarian restaurants too that would be great!

Cheers

Italian Near Daly City

I'm looking for any good Italian recommendations anywhere near Daly City, although I'm willing to travel either to the city or even San Mateo. I'm thinking maybe 30 per person excluding wine.

Thank you :)

Fine Dining at Cape Cod - Recommendations

thanks for all the suggestions! Will decide on one and let you know how it goes.

What do people generally feel about the pricier entrees at 28 Atlantic. Are you paying for the ambiance or the food in your opinion?

Fine Dining at Cape Cod - Recommendations

Oh just to mention, I've been to Brewster Fish House. It was lovely! I'd like to try another place this time though.

Fine Dining at Cape Cod - Recommendations

Hi!
I'll be heading over to the Cape this weekend and I'm looking forward to a good dinner one night. Budget isn't an issue. I was thinking of more innovative nouveau-american cooking styles with fresh ingredients or even fusion type food. Do you have any recommendations?

thanks!

Babbo - more specific questions. wine + menu.

Thanks for answering the questions.

Yes that crispy pork feet is looking to be brighter by the minute. If my friend gets all anti-grease I'll just have to eat it all by myself. Yum.

Thanks also for the sorbet photo and bar advice. Kathryn- love your extended Babbo recommendations and posts :)

Babbo - more specific questions. wine + menu.

Hi All!

I've read a fair bit of reviews about Babbo (sorry for posting another question topic) and I think I might try and chance it this Saturday by going to the bar with a friend at 5.30.

We're thinking of

antipasti:
1. Lamb's Tongue
2. Octopus or Pig's Foot (maybe octopus. dining partner not into fried fat [amazingly enough!])

primi:
1. Goose Liver Ravioli - A little reserved about this. Concerned that the sauce may completely overwhelm the ravioli and its stuffing.
2. Beef Cheek Ravioli, Chianti Stained Pappardelle with Wild Boar or Gnocchi

secundi:
Pork chops. I REALLY want sweetbreads, but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to fill both of us up

Dessert:
Sorbet and Gelatos. Hope it won't be lack lustre. May consider the semifreddo.

We're poor in the pocket out of town college kids saving up for a good dinner in NYC, hence our budget is sadly limited (but a few days of potato only meals is worth 1 night at Babbo. Its tough being a poor foodie). Which brings me to the questions.

We're definitely going to end up at the bar without reservations. I was wondering if the bar is limited to wines, or do they also serve cocktails as well?
We do fancy a glass of wine each with our meal, but the wine list at Babbo seems a little pricy.. what would your best suggestion be for this? The cheapest quartino is about 15 dollars a person. :\
Also, if we arrive at 5.15 say, and sit at the bar, we can't order food yet right? Hm maybe should just stick to 5.30.

Also since we have a two dish spot for our primis, I was wondering what other foodies thought about the overwhelmingness of the balasamic butter sauce.

Also about the dessert, how are the serving sizes for the sorbet and gelato, and are they really quite good and worth a taste?

Thanks a lot for any advice you have :)
xx

Dim Sum and Parking

Hello!

I was thinking of going down to Boston for dim sum this weekend (do they do it on Saturdays as well?) and was wondering what people felt was the best place for authentic dim sum since reviews seem to be middling across the net.
Also do you know where I could park in china town for un-exorbitant prices?

actually if you know anywhere around the state besides boston that does good dim sum, that'll be great as well.

cheers!

Clio Tasting Menu Or Gracies?

I have an anniversary dinner up, and I was wondering if anyone had an insight into whether they I should go for the tasting menu's at Clio's (in Boston) or Gracie's.

Gracie's 7 tasting runs at 90 dollars,

I believe Clio's 9 for 115? Or around there at least.

We're a teeny bit tight on budget, and was wondering what would be a better bang for the buck. :)

cheers
