Different variety and different breed taste test

We raised 7 different varieties of potatoes this year in our garden and had friends come over for a taste test. The potatoes were boiled, no seasonings or butter... just potatoes.

The favorite was a banana fingerling, followed by a variety called Bintje. The other varieties got mixed reviews but may have been due to differences in the way they were grown. It was obvious that some would be best suited for salads (Banana Fingerling). We are always looking for different varieties to try. Suggestions? BTW the other varieties I grew were Irish Cobbler, Alaskan Sweetheart, a Russian Purple, Kenebec, and Norland .

We also raise lamb and this week are going to do a taste test of different breeds- in this case New Zealand lamb available commercially, and then our Tunis/Cheviot cross and our pure Tunis. Our friends already did a taste comparison of the NZ lamb compared to the Tunis/Cheviot cross and all of them preferred the Tunis/Cheviot.

The Legacy of Lamb was a taste test of a number of different rare breed lambs. The results were published in the Hobby Farm magazine The breeds tested were Gulf Coast, Hog Island, Jacob, Katahdin, Leicester Longwool, Navajo-Churro, Santa Cruz, St. Croix, Tunis - and commercially available Australian lamb. The winner was the Santa Cruz lamb; second place was Tunis; and third place was Jacob.

So not all potatoes or lambs are created equal.
