800 Degree Pizza Falls Flat

Even if you do manage to get that far east (which I hope you mean in jest since it's still west of the 5) I wouldn't use the opportunity to eat at Mother Dough. We had dinner there shortly after Mozza and were pretty disappointed given that the prices were more or less on par but the entire experience as significantly less. The cleanliness was immaculate though.

Lamb/Mutton/Goat Plates

Aladin Sweets & Market located in the Little Bangladesh area of greater Wilshire Center (139 S Vermont Ave., 90004) has mutton kababs, curry and stew prepared in a karahi. I think it's something of specialty of the house, but my wife isn't a fan of lamb or mutton, so I've never been able to go that direction. Everything that we have ordered has been very good, with the exception of the beef kabab which we found a bit dry.

Best steakhouse in the Los Angeles area.... Hey Chowsters... Chime in!

I went for dinner last go around and it was just a massive crush of people. Unless there is no other way you can afford to visit, I would avoid during DineLA.

Mo Chica downtown

Don't be too hard on yourself. The experience at the original location had seriously degraded from what it was a few years back.

Del Taco Coming To SM Blvd. WLA

There is one location in Culver City at Jefferson and Sepulveda, and one on Lincoln at Washington in Marina Del Rey. I doubt these meet the perception of Westside for most people. There is definitely room for the chain to grow.

I once saw a passing rabbi attempt to break up a cat fight between a cross-dresser and another man just outside the Del Taco that used to be on Highland. Cheap fast food brings out the best in humanity.

Anyone Been to Post & Beam in Baldwin Hills?

Has anyone made it to Post & Beam in Baldwin Hills? The restaurant opened about a month ago and is a newly constructed free standing building at the backside of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.
Thanks in advance!

Amazing Peruvian Food in an Unexpected Location - Mo-Chica

Had lunch here today and prices seemed higher. Turns out a 50% increase on sides and drinks since OP. Staff is tired and not friendly. Loma saltado was good but not standout as before. Definitely an overall turn for the worse. Total bill with tip for two entres and no drinks was $35.45. Seems a bit steep for a food court. This isn't the Ferry Building.

Kula Revolving Sushi: J-Town

My wife went this week for lunch and reported back that all plates are $2.00 and the sushi was good...given the price. It's already pretty crowded. Seems like the most you could lose is $15.00 or so if you go and it doesn't pan out.

Since it's a fixed price, some plates only have one piece. She's fine with Whole Foods sushi for lunch, but generally complains about quality below that. It sounded like her experience was better than pre-made and Todai.

Sorry I don't have more to add.

Birthday party (dol) in Koreatown

Second Younsusan, but this may be more traditional and expensive than what you're looking for. The Dragon has private rooms and is popular for its Chinese/Korean food.

MaDang 621 is somewhat fancy with an outdoor area and easy parking, and the food was good when we ate there in December. But for what it's worth, the reviews on Yelp are all over the board, and you might want to have a local friend check it out first.

I don't want to dissuade you, but think you might have a hard time finding something that fits the bill for fun with good food, and that satisfies the importance associated with the first birthday party in Korean culture.

Golds 99 essential restaurants 2011 up

My opinion, and that of many others, is that J Gold is not a particularly highly regarded food writer. I am also waiting for the day that the media stops referring to him as "Pulitzer Prize winning Johnathan Gold". Yes he won the award in 2007, but it's not like he was knighted.

Donuts in the Marina?

My office just moved to the Marina and I can't seem to locate any donut shops in the area. I know that local supermarkets have a bakeries, such as Pavilions and Gelsons, but I'm looking for an actual donut shop.

Thanks so much for the assistance!

Jitlada suggestions

The last time I was there the owner recommended a fried sage dish that was very good. I can't recall the name but I do not imagine there are too many similar items on the menu.
