Excellent again [Creamery, Menomonie, WI]

It had been about four years since we had dined at The Creamery Restaurant in Downsville, WI. Suffice it to say that the last time had not found the food preparation at its best. So it was with a little trepidation that we decided to try them again since we happened to be in the Menomonie, WI area.

This time though it was a delightful experience. With new owners and a new chef, Executive Chef Brian Griep, at the helm, they are back on top of their game. The dining has been touched up and is much more inviting than it was on our last visit. The service was knowledgeable and attentive.

The dinner menu was loaded with a fantastic array of appetizers and the main courses had a good selection of seafood and meats. We couldn’t make up our minds and finally decided the tasting menu was the answer. We were not disappointed.

After a memorable amuse bouche, each course of the five course offering was better than the last. And the wine parings were spot on, enhancing the already fabulously prepared food. Chef Griep is a master of the perfect sauce that accompanied each entrée – subtlety and enhancement being the keywords.

We would highly recommend The Creamery Restaurant as a great restaurant to visit. The surrounding countryside with many shops, a nearby bike trail plus both summer and winter sports activities makes for the perfect getaway destination.
