ice cream help

I'm taking my 2 year old son to the Intrepid and would like to get ice cream after. Ideally something along the lines of Serendipity but I refuse to go there. Can anyone recommend a similar place? Ideally in Midtown, but I will travel along the west side. Nothing too exotic in terms of flavors. It is a 2 year old....

Many thanks.

Not the usual question

I have a beautiful corset I'd like to wear out to dinner. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to go without feeling awkward? The usual restaurant haunts (EMP, Jean George, etc) don't feel appropriate.

Saturday afternoon - child free

Budget. $100.
Not really interested in per se or EMP. Too much of a time commitment....

need beautifully lit / romantic restaurant for hubby

Monday. I can go up in price, no issue.

Thanks for the other threads.

BTW - I was on the Hawaii board and was tickled pink to see your reviews. I'm going in April / May. Maui - Wailea, Hana and Kauai - North Shore. Any new items of note I should be aware of?

Nougatine and NoMad recs

Thanks for the recs. Had to shift Nomad rezzie. Was so liking forward to it.
Nougatine - beautiful space but like everyone said, it kind of sucks. Fortunately it's not obscenely expensive. I'm a sucker for beautiful, elegant rooms which is why we went...

Could you recommend something other than the chicken? I feel bad for the geese stuffed with fatty food.

Visiting Montreal with not foodie husband

Hi, I'm visiting Montreal Feb 7 wknd with my husband. He has a pretty staid palate. Steak, meat and potatoes kind of guy. We'd like to pay about $30-50 pp for dinner.
I've made a reservation at L'Express. A friend recommended the Beaver Club. Is that any good? Seems a bit old fashioned. Somewhere like APDC is beyond him though I wouldn't dragging him to a restaurant like that if there were some safe choices on the menu. Do you have any recs?

Need fabulous cake to celebrate passing of life.

I need a great cake recommendation to celebrate a life.

I'm going to my friend's after work. I'm in union square and my friend is on LES. While I would like to go to Billy's, it's in the complete opposite direction. Does anyone have somewhere else to recommend?

Reporting back: Scarpetta, EMP, and Minetta Tavern (long)

I loved the parsnip course and my table agreed. We thought it is one of the better courses. Carrot course is baby food no mater how much EMP tries to dress it up ,albeit very nicely.

Strip house versus Keens

I went to Keen's on Monday and was a bit disappointed. My husband and I go about twice a year (once is for anniversary). In the last six months, we've gone twice and the steak hasn't been all that great. In March, I felt the steak was the weakest part of the meal. On Monday, the lump crab cocktail was fishy (sent it back) and the kale salad seemed to be on the verge of turning. I think we're going to have to start going elsewhere....

Help finding UES restaurant

I need help finding a restaurant on the UES. I used to walk past it from time to time. It was on a cross street. It had a very 'neighborhoody' look. It looked like it had been there for forever. Because it was on a cross street, it seemed like only ppl who knew the area well would eat there. I think it's in the late 70s or early 80s, somewhere between 1st ave and Lexington. South side of street. Close to what would be west side of avenue and not too far in from the avenue. Green outside. Maybe Italian??? Any ell would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Intimate dinner - post pregnancy

Hi,
I'm looking for to have an intimate dinner with my husband - sort of a 'just the two us' dinner after a month and a half of substantial newborn baby focused time. He's pretty plain Jane in taste. Nothing too exotic - Traditional American, Italian, French, maybe new American in taste. No steakhouse unless it is romantic. Pls exclude Two if by Sea. Looking to spend $150 - $200, with 1 drink each (have to take care newborn once we get one).

Thanks!

Food recs in Southampton

We're staying at the Reefs this week. I've read good things about Coconuts at the hotel. Also the food at the Fairmont's restaurants seems to get good reviews. I'm not sure how much of the island we'll be visiting. I don't seeing us going 1 hour away.
Can you recommend any places nearby? Reasonably priced.
Thanks!

Dinner at Eleven Madison Park - Impressive, Sometimes Spectucular, Ultimately Disappointing

I went on Tuesday for dinner. While the captain may have been ignoring me (which never occurred to me think about), it was clear to all that I was there with close friends and our intention was to talk, talk and eat. The other staff was flawless. Could not empty my water glass for the life of me.
The meal was very, very good. Clearly well thought out and executed. For me, I loved half the meal and the other half was take it or leave it. The granola - simply out of this world.

EMP tasting menu

Hi Chowhounds,

I'm going to EMP on Tuesday and will have their 4 course menu. In your opinion, which ingredients should I try? Will eat anything but raw fish (pregnant).
I know there's tons of postings on the site but I don't think anyone has asked this exact question....
Many thanks!

Where to eat in Petersburg Alaska

I made a reservation at the Scandia house. The front desk told me that Beachcomber Inn was closed and a different restaurant was opening up at it's venue. (???). We were looking forward the B.I. Hope it does reopen. We are there in June.

I'm looking for a rec in Petersburg, Alaska. It's a small fishing village in the Inside Passage. Has anyone ever been and have a suggestion on where to eat? Will be there for 24 hours. A place to stay would be appreciated as well.
