I went last week on their third night open. I usually don't visit places that soon after they have opened. I was blown away by how polished the service and food were for an opening weekend. Bartender was extremely knowledgable about the menu and preparation. Food was great. I remarked to a friend that if I was visiting from out of town and didn't know better I would assume that they had been open for a long time. All around great experience. Can't wait to go back.

Mr. Swank has reason to celebrate! But where?

Boston Chops seems like it would fit your steak, scotch needs and the atmosphere for a celebratory night out.

Bouncers Outside Restaurants

There are a number of logical reasons to keep someone at the door: to check ids; to keep intoxicated people from entering; to make sure the restaurant is not over it's fire capacity. Given its close proximity to the Garden and the amount of college students I'd say its a wise decision and most likely mandated by the city. Wouldn't it be a worse scenario if there was no one watching the door and the place was filled with drunk underage bruins fans??

Silvertone -- really?

I spent a good part of my 20's going to Silvertone. It used to be one of my favorite spots in the city, but I have to agree that the quality of food has gone down over the last year or so. I had the Mac & Cheese a couple of nights ago and it was awful and did not resemble the mac & cheese that I remember. I'm also sad they took the cold peanut noodles appetizer off the menu. I still go there for the wings (MUST get sauce on side or they are way too soggy) and the Jerk Chicken. The Jerk is still one of my favorite dishes. Served with fried plantains and rice with tabasco butter. The drinks and barstaff are still some of the best around. One more comment about the menu is that the prices are extemely low (probably why there are so many families there as one commenter noted). Maybe they don't want to raise the food prices, and in turn the quality of ingredients has suffered. I'd rather see them raise prices a doller or two and keep the quality high. I still have a soft spot for Silvertone and will continue to support them, but I hope they can bring back the quality bar food I remember.

Parents Meeting Parents: Help w/ Casual Dinner in Charlestown, North End, West End

I agree with the Joe's on the Waterfront suggestion. Seems to fit everything you're looking for: affordable, kid friendly, parking lots (for a fee). I'd also suggest the Warren Tavern for a nice historical aspect for out of towners. Family friendly and decent food. For a nicer dining experience in Charlestown I'd recommend Navy Yard Bistro. Excellent food !!

$1 Oyster HH Every Day of the Week...

Lucky's just started a really great Happy Hour menu that has Oysters for a dollar. Last week they were Island Creek's, yesterday they were Chatham's. Menu is Mon-Fri from 4-7. They also have $2 tacos, and their famous Kobe Sliders for 4 bucks.

Dining at Scarpetta Bar???

Thanks for the replies! We are coming down from Boston and staying Tues & Weds night. Any recommendations for dinner on Weds? I wanted to try Lincoln but my GF doesn't like the look of the room. She wants something a little more "quaint". Other considerations are Townhouse, Mark, Freeman's, ABC but I'm open to anything. I already ate at KO and WD50 on my last trip. Thanks for you help :)

Dining at Scarpetta Bar???

Has anyone dined at Scarpetta's bar lately? Do they offer their full menu? I checked their website but it didn't indicate. Planning on going Tuesday evening around 9pm. Do you think it will be overly crowded? Will we have trouble getting a seat at/near the bar?

Muchas Gracias!

What should I order at Market?

The pork chop was outstanding! Their ginger margarita was great too :)

Olives in Charlestown--gone?

It''s been shuttered for over 6 months. It closed Memorial Day weekend due to an exaust fire. There was a write up somewhere a couple months ago that he was revamping it into a more casual, neighborhood friendly place called "Fat Olives". Not sure if that is still the plan...

Fort Myers Beach recs

Belhaven on tap?

Love Belhaven!! Lucky's used to have it on draught. I'm pretty sure JJ Foley's has it on tap too.

Need help for lunch on Route 1 North of Boston?

Either Polcari's or Jimmy's would be good options for an informal meeting. Jimmy's may just be open for dinner tho, not sure.

HELP! Take Out Thanksgiving Dinners

Hello. Can someone recommend a place that does take out thanksgiving dinners? I need to deliver Turkey dinner to my elderly Grandmother on Thanksgiving. I'd like it to have all the fixins. I can pick up either Weds night or Thursday day. Needs to be in Boston or North of the city (Cambridge, Somerville, Medford area). Thanks for your help!!
