Westside- Westchester, El Segundo, Venice- Burger Craving

I like the burger at Sunny Spot.

You would have a hard time finding _________in Los Angeles...

Lobster newburg. I used to get it in Orange County, at Delaney's I think. Maybe it's more of an east coast dish? It certainly isn't the healthiest thing to put on a menu since it's so rich, but I wouldn't mind finding a good version of it somewhere.

Weekday Sushi Lunch near Century City

Hamasaku, if you like rolls.

Pea Soup Anderson's in Carlsbad Ca

It's definitely still there, just drove by it this past weekend.

Quiet dining in North County

Vivace at Aviara.

Where delicious in/near Beverly Hills (neither foo-foo nor dive) to take visiting foodie friend for dinner?

I'd say The Sherbourne, Fig & Olive or Culina. Spago is always a good choice too.

Looking for a great place for Easter Brunch this year - buffet preferred

The Rundown just sent out a list of their Easter brunch recommendations: Livello at L'Ermitage, One Pico at Shutters, Ford's Filling Station, Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel Air, Fig & Olive and Raphael in Studio City. They all sound like solid choices to me, but I have never eaten brunch at any of them.

Eating healthy near Santa Monica 3rd street

+1 for True Food Kitchen. And look for Seasons 52 opening this fall in the former iCugini space.

Amasia

I just called the number on the web site and she told me "around May."

plan check on sawtelle is now open!

Agree that the fried chicken and Chef's Favorite Burger are outstanding and that the fries are just ok. My friends had the mushrooms and oysters and raved about both of them, but they thought the rock fish was not very flavorful. The shortrib and crab dip were good but not great for me and the donuts were pretty fantastic. The Ronin cocktail was delicious.

The Sherbourne

327 N. Sherbourne Drive in West Hollywood behind Jerry's Deli.

The pictures look nice.

The Sherbourne

I'm wondering if anyone has eaten at The Sherbourne yet? I am intrigued by the "spud mixologist."

LA's Oldest Still-Thriving Restaurants

Also in Orange County, El Patio Cafe in Capistrano Beach, serving since the late 1930's. Love their tacos.

Need Del Mar Saturday lunch recomendations

I'm hijacking this thread a bit, but I'm wondering what are some good options for dinner on a Sunday night that are within a cab ride away from the Del Mar fairgrounds. Moderate price, American, Italian, seafood...a good place to sober up after a wine tasting event. Thanks!

Hostaria del Piccolo

I love the pasticcio, it is amazing. I've only had pizza once and it was fine but not super memorable.

Easter Sunday- what are my chances at finding a great birthday dinner!

Agree with Son of a Gun, that would be fun for a birthday. You might also want to consider Hungry Cat in Santa Monica, the food is very good. And something a little different could be one of the Peruvian restaurants like Picca or Osaka since there are lots of seafood items on their menus.

The Coffee Co. on La Tijera and Sepulveda Expressway, near LAX or just off of Sepulveda???

I eat there occasionally and I think it's good for breakfast. I typically just have eggs with bacon or sausage. I did like the spicy chicken sausage I had last time. And I really like their biscuits, they are very buttery. Coffee purists will hate me, but I also like that they have Hazelnut coffee as an option.

Average meal price at Banyan Tree, DUO, Ferraro's, Spago?

I tallied up the costs of my meals at Ferraro's over the past several years and it comes out to about $100. Typically I'll have an appetizer, entree, split a dessert and 1-2 glasses of wine. Duo is probably on par with that.

Wailea Bar Dining

Good to know about the crab dip, I'll have to give Joe's another try. I happen to really love the crab pizza, so we must just have different palates. I wish Gannon's would serve something similar, because then you would get the benefit of the view/atmosphere along with a spectacular dish. What dishes did you particularly like at Gannon's? I only ate dinner there once (after the transition from SeaWatch) and wasn't too impressed. I do love it for breakfast, though. And speaking of crab, the crab bisque at Tommy Bahama Cafe is amazing.

Wailea Bar Dining

The lobby lounge at the Four Seasons is really nice, we enjoy listening to the music while having a pre-dinner drink. The menu is decent, but I've only actually eaten there once and the food was fine, but this was after a few cocktails and my memory of the quality of the sushi I had is a bit fuzzy. I like the lobby lounge at the Kea Lani as well. They have a bar menu, but you really can order pretty much anything from any of the restaurants. I like the Oishi sushi dish they serve at Ko. The music here is nice too. I'm not sure when your trip is, but if it's open you should check out Alan Wong's new restaurant Amasia at the Grand Wailea. I'm hoping it will be a great addition to the dining scene. Monkeypod Kitchen has good food, but the ambiance is more noisy and energetic than at the hotels. But they have a good cocktail list, lots of beer on tap and great pies that are made daily. If you sit outside it's less hectic than inside. They have music here at night too. If the crab dip at Joe's is like the crab pizza topping at Hali'imaile General Store, then that would be worth a stop. The one time I ate at Joe's, though, I wasn't too keen on the atmosphere or service.

Good Thin-Crust Pizza on Westside?

I received an email from them a few weeks back that they did not know to where or when they would be relocating. Makes me sad too.

Haven't seen too much written on Roy Choi's new restaurant, Sunny Spot yet. A quick reflection...

Have not had the burger at A-Frame so I'm afraid I can't compare. I did really like the beer can chicken the one time I went there.

Haven't seen too much written on Roy Choi's new restaurant, Sunny Spot yet. A quick reflection...

You really should try to go back for the burger, it is excellent. I'd say you didn't miss much by not trying the hamachi collar, I thought it was just ok. But the burger is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced oceanview restaurant buy-out in Santa Monica?

Would Marina Del Rey work? If so, maybe check out Killer Shrimp.

Drinks, snacks and good jazz?

Looks like Strand House in Manhattan Beach has jazz on Sundays in the Strand Bar. I have not been yet, but the location is certainly great.

Late Night Eats & Drinks -- on a Wednesday

Looks like Red Medicine is open until 2 a.m.

Restaurant recs for dinner close to the Pantages Theatre

Agree with the Cleo recs and you might also want to check out Osaka for Peruvian food. The ceviches are terrific and the space is beautiful.

black decorating icing in little tube

Looks like Sur La Table might have what you are looking for, at least according to their web site. But it's in a bottle with a squeeze top, not a tube and it's for cookies.
