For great steak, you can't beat the Great American Land & Cattle Co on Alabama. The 2-lb T-bone with 1 lb baked potato and pineapple cole slaw is my favorite.
Best BBQ in Texas
I'm surprised to hear people say the State Line isn't very good. I've travelled to El Paso on business many times over the past twenty years, and the State Line (we always got the family style BBQ platter, with chicken) was always a reliable favorite. It's been a couple of years since my last visit though, so things could have changed. It's a real pity if they did go downhill.
Brunch type food in the evening?
Two more things:
1) My Dad had breakfast food there around 10 PM.
2) They deliver. I don't know what their delivery range is.
As for non-brunch food, their chicken parmigiana is pretty good, as are their cheesecake and chocolate mousse.

Midnite Express, Second Ave at 89th St. They're open 24 hours, and serve breakfast items whenever. I was there a few days ago for a late brunch (2-3 PM) and had a good, hearty serving of pancakes, eggs and sausage. Very tasty and filling.
Where can I find French eclairs?
Dunno about French eclairs, but our family has loved the eclairs at Glaser's Bakery (UES, 87th @ First Ave) for years. When we're in town, we always stop in to get some.
