Where to eat around Atlantic/Flatbush Ave. of Brooklyn??

I would recommend Burger 67 on Lafayette and Fulton Street. Great burgers (including veggie and turkey burgers) and a relaxed atmosphere. Mullane's is also good for salads, soups, pub food -- friendly and good service.

Moving to Prospect Heights

Chavella's is a great place for Mexican and I would highly recommend Gen for fresh, yummy Japanese food. For drinks, head to Franklin Park or walk over to Vanderbilt Avenue adn try Barrette (2 for 1 beer and wine during happy hour). Also, Barrette has this grilled cheese sandwich which is positively addictive. Welcome to the neighborhood. Places to avoid -- Abigael's (tiny portions but huge prices) and Plan B has awful burgers and mediocre wings.

Good Chow near BAM?

Alchemy is really, really mediocre food and the last few times I was there the service was terrible. If you're visiting from out of town I would skip it. Stonehome is a charming little place. It tends to get crowded on performance nights at BAM so get there early because you can't make reservations. I would highly recommend No 7. Great food and great service.

Should I visit Brooklyn for a meal?

Please note that Franny's is not open for lunch (only dinner) in case you were planning to come to Brookly during the day. Sea in Williamsburg is NOT by any stretch of the imaginzation amazing Thai food. Very standard. Fun lively bar scene but not good food. The bar mentioned is actually called Draft Barn (not Draught Barn) and it has only been open a few weeks....there are MANY better beer selections -- in Manhattan -- try D.B.A., Bind Tiger Ale House and Gingerman.

Great beer places in Brookyn are mostly in Williamsburg -- Spuyten Duyvil, Spike Hill, Mug's Ale House. Brooklyn Brewery and Barcade.

Should I visit Brooklyn for a meal?

I highly recommend that you visit Brooklyn during your stay. Near the bridge I would say you should go have real NYC pizza at Grimaldi's. Also nearby is a great chocolate shop called Jaques Torres -- great for truffles and for hot chocolate.

best place for an office holiday lunch in Brooklyn?

I would recommend Downtown Atlantic on Atlantic near Hoyt Street. They serve lunch , could easily accomodate a party of 7 and have fantastic deserts.

Family dinner on Vanderbilt, kind of near Atlantic?

While I think some of the dishes at Pequena are good. It is a very small restaurant so I wouldn't recommend it for a group outing.

beer and good friends in brooklyn

For a crowd of 10-20 people I would say that either Barrette (on Vanderbilt Avenue and Bergen) or Pacific Standard would be your best best. The Gate is overrated they don't stock as many good craft beers as they once did and there are no bar snacks. Union Hall is also a good option, nice vibe and bar snacks but the beer selection is not as interesting.

College Football and Bar Food

Hey douglas525,

Have you tried Croxley's Ale House on Avenue B. I haven't been there in awhile but I'm pretty sure they show sports and I remember they have good wings. Check it out and report back.

What neighborhood is this, and where to eat?

Coney Island Avenue is not part of Coney Island. There isn't much to see down in Coney Island.

Looking for something new in Park Slope/P. Heights

I would recommend trying some other places:

1) Gen sushi on Washington Avenue. It's always filled with a mix of neighborhood residents and Japanese hipsters.
2) Noona on Vanderbilt Avenue has a nice mix of Korean appetizers and good drinks.
3) Chavella's excellent, authentic Mexican with very fresh ingredients. Blows La Tacqueria away. It's on Classon between Park and Prospect Place.
4) Cafe Tapeo on 5th Avenue in Park Slope...excellent tapas and good selection of beer and wine by the glass.
5) Tempo on 5th Avenue is also great. They have great fish and the service is outstanding.

Need advice on beer in Brooklyn

I'm surprised that folks are so enamored with Beer Table. I have never seen a beer there that is that "obscure" and they seem to have no airconditioning at all.

Need advice on beer in Brooklyn

Glad to hear that you're goign to visit Brooklyn during your trip to NYC. I too am a craft beer and Belgian beer enthusiast. I would NOT recommend that you go to Beer Table their selection is quite overpriced, the space is small and it is not close to any other good beer bars. The best neighborhood to go to so that you can try several different bars is Williamsburg. In Williamsburg within a short walking distance you could go to the Brooklyn Brewery, Mug's Ale House, Spike Hill, Spuyten Duyvil (which has an excellent selection of Belgian beers), Barcade and Radegast Hall (German beers). Also, DBA a great beer bar that is in the East Village in Manhattan I believe has just opened a branch of their bar in Williamsburg also. Enjoy your trip and definitely report back and which places you tried.

In addition to beermenus.com I would also recommend that you go to www.beeradvocate.com they have a section where people rate their experience at beer bars.

Looking for new financial district lunch places

Le Financier on Stone Street has great paninis and salads.
Fresco Scotto to Go has excellent pasta, pizzas and salads as well.
Avoid Wall Street Burger Shoppe -- it's totally over-rated.

Micros to pick up at Wegman's, Rochester

Actually the best selection of beer in the Rochester area is at Beers of the World at 3450 Winton Place 585-427-2852. Excellent selection of craft beers from the U.S. and abroad. I would recommend that you try some of the beers from the Brooklyn Brewery.

Fish dinner suggestion needed: not Fish Camp

I would highly recommend Tempo on 5th avenue in Park Slope. Excellent fish, particularly the roasted orata. The wild salmon and striped bass are also good. They have a pre fixe menu $32 per person most nights, I think it's a bit higher on Friday and Saturday. Great, attentive service and a nice setting.

Prospect Heights Restaurants

Here are some of my neighborhood favorites:
Gen -- good sushi and interesting appetizers with a friendly staff

Chavella's - tasty Mexican food, very fresh ingredients and lots of veggie options

Zaytoons -- affordable, healthy middle eastern food. great for takeout

Barrette -- it's actually a bar but has great light bites such as a slider, chicken sandwich and the best grilled cheese sandwich ever. fun loving and friendly staff who pour a nice stiff drink

Franny's -- hard to get into since there recent rave review in the NY Times but great pizza and appetizers only drawback is it is a bit pricey

Antonio's -- good for pizza delivery, been around for ever

Places to avoid -- Soda, India Place, Aliseo, Burrito Bar, Tavern on Dean

Sad Days for a Ft. Greene Favorite

This restaurant has been gone for years and many new restaurants have opened in that general area. The Smoke Joint which replaced Cambodian Cuisine is a much better restaurant in my opinion.

Vegetarian Birthday Dinner and Dessert

For dessert I would recommend going to Downtown Atlantic on Atlantic Avenue between Bond and Hoyt. Excellent homemade desserts - cheesecakes, cookies, cupcakes, tarts and pies.

Food in Williamsburg

You should do a search for more suggestions but just a few off the top of my head. I would recommend Dumont Burger - great burgers, fish sandwiches and a good veggie burger. Spike Hill, Spuyten Duyvil and Clem's are great spots for drinks.

Great dinner at Relish in Williamsburg

My honey and I enjoyed a great dinner at Relish on Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Saturday evening. For appetizers we ordered the savory french toast stuffed with mozarella and carmelized fennel and the crumbled goat cheese salad with endive and grapefruit segments and then for entrees we enjoyed the hanger steak frites and a special for the evening of red snapper with hashed brussel sprouts.

The only problem that I had with the meal was the incredible inattentive service. While our food came out of the kitchen quickly and was delicious. The waitress was oblivious. We had to flag her down for everything. Refills on water, napkins, everything.

I would recommend Relish for good new American cuisine but beware of the service.

Alchemy, Park Slope

My husband and I stopped in last night. Unfortunately, they do not yet have their liquor licence but they are serving food. The food smelled great -- small menu - burger, steak, fish and chips, etc. Nice renovation also. They said they hope to have liquor on board by the weekend.
