Yeah, I'm prepared to wait. Going to see if they'll serve the shochu straight.
As for the bahn mi, I don't imagine price being an issue there. The only limitation is I want to stay in Manhattan, though I know that *maybe* the best one might be in the outer boroughs. And no, you're right, I don't need to stray into innovative territory, what do you suggest?

Ok people, I’ve read a lot of your fabulous thread and have great respect for your food opinions. And now I need some more of them. I’m a grad student coming back to NY this week and am planning on taking a mini tour of some great (college priced) haunts in our fair city that I’ve recently been exposed to based on reading countless numbers of your threads.
I’m fairly certain of a number of the places I want to go but still wanted some of this boards’ input. Am I missing something obvious? Am I greatly mistaken about any of these places? Let me know.
And lastly, one more question: Anyone know where I can find a doner kebab sandwich preferably one like this-

Places currently on my list:
Russ & Daughters - going to get the super heeb. Can I get them to prepare so I can eat open faced?
Tehuitzingo - tongue taco, plus some tripe. Or is there a better inexpensive taco place with great tongue?
Ippudo - the buns and the akamaru modern
Baoguette - need a suggestion. Been to Saigon Bakery and want to try something a bit more innovative
Venessa Dumpling vs. Prosperity - where to go?!
Sichuan Gourmet - the tongue app, the cumin lamb, double pork, anything else?
Frites N Meats - Is it worth it? Would there be a better cart?
Katz’s - been there before, but going again. You can’t stop me!
And lastly, I really dig the idea of Sakagura. Can I get some reassurance if I decide to drop some dough there?
