A fantastic birthday meal of starters at Sable in Chicago in March of 2011. Pork Belly BLT FTW!
My current drink of choice:
I am renewing my acquaintance with the drink of my ski and summer house mornings: the Bloody Mary. Slightly spicy with a nice horseradish bite.
I really wish I could:
eat just one of anything.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Brownies. Barefoot Contessa Outrageous for special occasions, but Bittman's are pretty good too (and easy to throw together). I also make an orzo, feta, dill cold salad that folks really like.
My favorite comfort food:
Shells with meat sauce, just like Mom used to make.
My most tattered cookbooks:
On my bookshelves, I have practically every Barefoot Contessa cookbook and many back issues of Cook's Illustrated. I cook a lot more from the Web these days though. My most traveled bookmark is Epicurious. I can vet the recipes based on the caliber and number of the reviews. Chowhound Home Cooking Board is helpful for narrowing down a particular recipe or technique. Hive wisdom.
