Short rib grilled cheese - 8 oz or Joan's on Third?

I concur on The Foundry. Their stuff is really good, and the short rib grilled cheese is no exception.

Need burrito advice from someone who knows Boston and LA!

If you're still checking this thread, I'd be interested to hear what you thought of those places here... I also lived in Boston for 8 years and have spent a lot of time trying to find an equivalent to Anna's out here in L.A. -- both of my apartments were right up the street from the Anna's outposts, and it was a regular habit to get off the T, grab a burrito and walk home from there. It's kind of funny, but of everything in Boston, I think I miss Anna's the most.

Good, fairly cheap lunch sushi in WeHo?

Looking for a good place in West Hollywood to grab some sushi for lunch... not looking to break the bank or get some super-fancy rolls, just looking for some recommendations on places to get some good, fresh, non-gas station sushi that I can hit regularly. I've been going to Kura Sushi (Crescent Heights and Sunset) and that's pretty good, but I was wondering if anyone has any other places they can vouch for. Thanks!

upscale casual Italian or fresh fish/Santa Monica/Brentwood

I second Osteria Latini. I love that place... great food, reasonable prices and the service is really good too. I'd recommend making reservations though.

Did Jack Sprat's Grille close??

I read something on Eater LA that Jack Sprat's had been replaced by some burger joint called "The Six" -- what happened? I loved Jack Sprat's -- their air fries, burgers and sandwiches were amazing, and I really liked getting the pretzels before the meal.

West Hollywood = Chowhound Wasteland?

Joey's Cafe and Kokomo Cafe are always good for quick and delicious food, and I appreciate (especially with Joey's) that there's an emphasis on the food being both tasty and relatively good for you.

8 oz. on Melrose makes a hell of a burger, and the bar there has some interesting concoctions.

Marix has some incredible Mexican food -- especially the beef tacos and fajitas -- and the margaritas are pretty good too.

While the WeHo one on SMBlvd is the 2nd Baby Blues outpost, it has probably the best barbeque in Los Angeles (not to start yet another debate here on L.A. BBQ).

Froma on Melrose is a cool little wine/sandwich shop with some amazing dishes.

For good weekend dinners, I've become partial to Vinoteque and The Foundry, though they can be a little expensive and not just a neighborhood hangout type place.

Baby's A LIttle Closer: Baby Blues BBQ in West Hollywood

Already been to the new WeHo location twice (and going back again tonight) -- went once to try it and told so many friends about how great it was, they kept asking me to take them. The food is AMAZING, the servers are extremely nice and gracious, and the place is well laid out -- a lot easier to get a table than the Venice place, plus there's a valet parking lot.

First date, sushi, west side

California Roll Factory in West L.A. on Santa Monica Boulevard near Federal -- two doors down from Cafe '50s. GREAT sushi, very low price for what you get (which are huge delicious rolls), and the menu is 3 pages of really unique rolls.

8 oz. in WeHo has an absinthe drink... it's pretty much solid alcohol and will definitely get you fairly wasted.

Where is the best turkey burger in LA?

The turkey burger at Jack Sprat's on the Westside at Pico & Overland is delicious and huge, and the air fries are worth the trip alone.

Great Martini Bars in LA?

The Liquid Kitty on Pico in West L.A. is great. Great selection of martinis that are incredibly strong, plus a nice vibe in the place. However, it can get a little loud.

Indulge Cafe closed??

Took a bunch of co-workers down to Indulge Cafe at Pico & Redondo today for lunch, only to find the place was completely closed up with a note on the door saying the locks and alarm code had been changed. Even the sign in front was painted over. Anyone know what happened?? They had the best burgers...

What's good in Brentwood?

Osteria Latini at Barrington & San Vicente is one of my favorite restaurants in L.A.

Santa Monica or surrounding-Healthy Dinner Spot

I was unimpressed with Literati II... food was okay, menu wasn't that great and it was pretty overpriced for what they were offering.

Seafood, large group, Westside?

Hey folks -- looking for a good place to go next week with a group of about 8 people on the Westside. They're mostly seafood- not meat-eaters, and one has strict dietary restrictions, so we're not looking for a place where the chef makes what he wants and refuses to change. A place where we don't have to yell to be heard would also be great.

We've been to Ocean Avenue Seafood, which we liked, but I was hoping to try someplace new. Any suggestions?
