downtown atlanta recommendations

Peasant Bistro (http://www.peasantatl.com/) and Legal Seafood (across the park - only one in the South other than Miami) are a couple choices for either dinner or lunch. I've been to Stats a couple times - fine for drinks but the food and service are terrible. A local's favorite (I live downtown) that has a cool European vibe is Social (http://www.socialintown.com/) - only open for dinner on Saturday - and lunch and dinner during the week - and considering the downtown will be packed with the SEC crowd, you can probably sneak into this tucked away place to avoid the tourist crowd that's only a few blocks from your hotel. FAB is around the corner (a little pricier, but good food) and Room in the Twelve Hotel is solid. If you really want to get the local experience for lunch - try the Highland Bakery (about a mile east of downtown).
