Wichita Kansas?
I'll keep the bluestem option for Sept when I should be back to KC as I'm leaving at lunch time on Tuesday. Glace was already on my list, as I'm a big fan of his chocolates too, and while there I'll also drop by the BetterCheddar&Penzeys (I always feel that they are for tourists, but the selection of products is great... remember, I live in rural KS). Thanks for the great advice, next time you go to Italy let me know, I might have a place or two to recommend.
Wichita Kansas?
Yeah, sorry, I remembered that after my post. $35 (wine excluded), but I'm willing to spend more if it's really worth it. Otherwise I'm happy to keep the budget low, as long as the food is fresh. I'm really spoiled and had a really hard time adjusting to the lack of food choices in small town KS for the last 3 years. I checked your page, Italy seems to be a gastronomic universe that you have not explored yet. You'll love it. We went to a nice Mexican in Overland Pk, Torreon, really enjoyable but pretty straightforward. Oh, and had a berry lavander snowcone @ fresher than fresh today, loved that. Lunch @ Bo Lings, which is never disappointing but always the same. I'll be in KC until Tuesday, hopefully you get this in time.

Wichita Kansas?
There is nothing really exciting in Wichita... I personally like Yia Yia's. I'm Italian and usually get bored with single course meals, Yia Yia's has a nice selection of starters and I often end up picking three for my supper. I'm not certain the waiters like it (more plates to serve), but I enjoy the variety more. Out of the main courses, I recently had and enjoyed a nice trout dish. The desserts are nice too. For lunch, I like Hana Cafe (sushi bar) in old town. It has a small menu, but with some nice bento boxes (I like the tempura option).
I'll be in KC this weekend with my 4-month-baby... any place I shouldn't miss? I'm a "piscitarian", I don't eat meat but seafood. I was thinking of trying Taj Mahal, I miss Indian food so much...

Wow, lots of choices and some of the menus are really interesting. I am about to leave now, I think I might try Salum for dinner tonight if we get in early enough. As for tomorrow, I will keep you posted... Ciao!

Winfield, pretty close to Wichita ... a big change from my hometown, Verona. We are happy here, anyway. As for the budget I was thinking around 30 each as it is not an official dinner and we will be heading back home soon after. Thanks again for the help!

Thank you for all the replies, I will spend the whole night checking all the places online ;) Now I feel that I should spend a few days in Dallas and try a few of them out. Options and choices are something I do really miss since I moved from Italy to a small town in Kansas. I am really looking forward to the trip tomorrow. Thanks again, chowhounds!

We are staying at the Hyatt Regency... don't tell me that it sucks too ;) Ok, so, considering that we are not familiar with the city, is there anywhere you would recommend. We like all sort of food, really, but a steakhouse would not be my first choice.

My food-loving family is visiting from Italy and I will collect them in Dallas this weekend. I'm looking for a restaurant in downtown for a nice lunch together on Saturday. My parents are chefs, but I am on a budget ;) Is there any place you could recommend? I've never been in Dallas before. Thanks!
